The mechanical man turned his eyes towards Asher. He began walking forward with calm steps as the echoes of the battlefield in the distance reached their ears. The mechanical man extended a hand, and a Lightsaber hummed to life in his grasp, powered by his suit once again.Arriving at a particular distance, the man lowered himself into a stance, then vanished as his body turned into a phantom, the earth beneath his feet blasting backwards from the force of his movement.
He arrived with a thrust aimed straight at Asher’s chest, his move merciless and vicious.
Asher’s perception slowed time for him yet again as he read the flow of the attack. From the way the air and sound barrier had collapsed, he could tell that if he met this attack head-on with his current power, his hand would break, as this mechanical man had become stronger and faster for no apparent reason.
Gravity came alive around Virelass as the weapon hummed with even greater power. The power surrounding Asher intensified as a blackish hue cloaked his body, layering over his Light enhancements.
Without missing a beat, his right foot and right hand shot forward like vipers as he performed a high-speed thrust. With another sundering burst of force, the tip of the Lightsaber met the tip of his rapier with an eardrum-rupturing impact. Both weapons stopped each other in place, force and momentum travelling between the two of them.
In a blur, they disappeared from existence, their weapons meeting endlessly, their speed increasing with each movement and passing second as they seemed equal in swordsmanship, speed, and power.
Asher couldn’t understand it, but something felt weird. Although this unknown man matched him in pure swordsmanship, he seemed like a fake, like he hadn’t trained and practised like everybody else to attain this level of swordsmanship.
It simply lacked... individuality.
Asher didn’t jump to any conclusions. He would find out more as the battle went on, as rushing to guess would only lead to mistakes.
His rapier tore towards the man’s chest. The man raised his Lightsaber from above as he blocked expertly. He deflected the rapier before slashing at Asher’s stomach.
Asher’s foot twisted, his shoulder and waist following as he shifted his force and centre of gravity. As he dodged, he slashed towards the helmet with ridiculous speed and sharpness. But the mechanical man was no slower; he simply leaned backwards, effectively dodging the attack as his back became parallel to the ground.
Virelass twirled in Asher’s hands as he changed his grip and stabbed downwards with wicked speed and precision. As the attack was about to land, the mechanical man reacted, and thrusters erupted from his palms, his body shooting backwards as he dodged in time. His body twisted as thrusters emerged from beneath his feet, allowing him to take to the air.
The moment he reached a particular distance, his Lightsaber appeared once again. He raised it towards the sky, its size increasing with ridiculous speed as it stretched for metres. Without missing a beat, he brought the colossal weapon down upon Asher’s head.
Asher snapped his head skywards as the incoming attack loomed over him, casting a shadow across his body. Virelass vanished from his grip as, the next moment, rays of Light gathered at extraordinary speed, forming a gigantic sword of Light of the same size. He took a step forward and swung it upwards to meet the incoming attack.
The gigantic Lightsaber and colossal Light sword collided head-on. The collision tore space apart, the impact phenomenal as everything within a thousand-kilometre radius was ripped to shreds in what seemed like no time at all, the sheer destruction escalating as smaller Light blades ripped through everything in the area.
Earthquakes surged through the battlefield as the earth itself shattered.
Through the smokescreen, the mechanical man moved once more. The moment he appeared, he unleashed various thrusts towards Asher, his speed and finesse ridiculous. Asher was surprised when he saw the attacks; the man had caught him off guard.
He hadn’t been caught off guard because he had failed to sense or see the attack coming, as he could perceive through a smokescreen at this level of power. Rather, he had been caught off guard by the way the mechanical man performed the attacks.
This was his own attack style; the mechanical man had copied his attacks.
At that moment, Asher immediately reached his conclusion. The mechanical man possessed some form of artificial intelligence that could read and copy people’s attack rhythms, flow, and everything else, allowing him to bypass years of hardship and labour.
The Gravity around Asher’s body vanished as purple Lightning crackled around him. Purple Lightning and yellow Light combined, his sheer destructive power and speed rising as the world seemed to crawl around him.
And with that, he shot into the attack. He weaved through each thrust like smoke, and in a yellowish-purple flash, his rapier tore into the mechanical man’s shoulder with devastating power.
The mechanical man felt the full brunt of the impact, his body shooting backwards like a ragdoll. The man twisted and landed as he felt his shoulder go numb. His eyes snapped towards Asher as he guessed that Asher must have figured out one of his abilities.
He had watched the Inter-Empire Tournament and seen just how combat-intelligent the Tenth Sun was.
Although the Tenth Sun had moved faster than his AI’s calculating capabilities, it didn’t matter. His Astra Energy hummed with even greater intensity as he poured it into the AI, increasing its computing speed to read and follow every attack made by the Tenth Sun.
Asher, for his part, was also surprised. With the destructive power that Light and Lightning possessed, he had expected to tear through the iron suit, but he hadn’t. The man wasn’t even injured.
’Unless it’s a soul-bound weapon...’
Asher guessed, as he wasn’t sure. The suit was too bizarre to be a soul-bound weapon, but he didn’t eliminate the possibility.
Unknown to him at that moment, he was correct. The Black man’s iron suit was a soul-bound weapon, as that was his ability. The suit granted enhanced speed, strength, durability, and vitality.
With the indestructible properties of soul-bound weapons, he was safe inside, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be injured, as the force of an attack could still be transferred to him.
Asher’s knees dipped forward ever so slightly as he shot forward like a bullet, his body closing the distance. Arriving in a blur, hot white flames came alive as he struck the iron suit with searing heat and burning force.
A titanic white explosion erupted as flames consumed the iron suit. Asher intended to melt and burn the metal, roasting the man from within and turning him into human-shaped charcoal.
The mechanical man frowned. He was still boosting his AI’s calculating capabilities when Asher attacked, so he couldn’t keep up.
"Boosting complete. I can now keep up with the target’s speed, even if their speed increases twice as much."
A mechanical voice echoed within Nick’s mind.
"Perfect."
He thought to himself with a smirk. Although the Tenth Sun was already moving at ridiculous speeds with his Lightning and Light combination, his AI could now keep up with even twice that speed.
