Chapter 2009: The Godfather and the First Aid Kit (Non Historical, Caution Advised)

K93 Star System.

In the vast and boundless universe, a silver-white spaceship was nimbly weaving through a dark red asteroid belt.

The celestial bodies that appeared tiny through the astronomical telescope were actually enormously large, each with its own orbiting trajectory. Coupled with the spaceship’s own faster-than-light travel, it looked like a perilous game of dodgeball.

But this couldn’t stump it.

After all, it was not an ordinary spaceship but the strongest warship of the Imperial Marshal.

It had accompanied the Imperial Marshal through long and glorious years of battle, achieving peak records across the entire star system and even the entire Federation.

There were many rumors about it, some say it was a custom-built warship ordered by the Imperial Marshal at great expense, others say it was a secret weapon left to him by his grandfather.

But there were also rumors that at first, it was simply a nanny robot, the kind that made milk formula and changed diapers for the young marshal.

A cutesy AI voice sounded, seemingly with a hint of excitement, "Obstacles cannot be avoided, initiating clearance plan, do you wish to stop it?"

The man lounging against the chairback didn’t lift an eyelid.

The AI’s voice grew more excited, "Clearance plan officially launched! A warm reminder—"

Mid-sentence, the man on the chairback nonchalantly lifted a hand, slender and elegant even with a white glove, and clicked the safety clasp on the chairback into place.

The AI emitted a sound of proud satisfaction reminiscent of a doting father, "Good boy."

The man’s thin lips parted slightly, "Call me ’baby’ again and I’ll smash you."

Whether it was intimidated or not, the AI didn’t say another word, but stubbornly flashed a line of text on the screen as if to show its last bit of unyielding will: "Can’t smash."

The man still had his eyes closed but seemed to guess its little action, calmly saying, "Cancel autopilot."

The AI yielded instantly, "The Marshal is awesome!"

Then, it began to focus on clearing the unavoidable asteroids.

Under normal circumstances, Federation warships would not casually destroy celestial bodies in space. However, with the urgency of this mission, there’s no time to adhere to Federation laws.

Meanwhile, on an orange planet, no less than thirty warships were poised to strike.

This was a newly arisen group of space pirate factions in the star system, most of whom were convicts who had escaped from prison, successfully robbing ten Federation space supply stations and two Imperial supply stars.

The Federation took this matter very seriously, having sent a legion to suppress them, but to no avail since there were traitors within familiar with the Federation’s warships and tactics, avoiding direct confrontation, firing a shot then slipping away—extremely cunning.

The Federation was at its wits’ end.

Recently, they set their sights on a supply star controlled by the Wil family, planning to take action tonight.

However, before they could set off, an entirely black spacecraft suddenly sailed into the dark, endless night sky overhead. After entering the planet’s atmosphere, it slowed down, hovering steadily over the thirty warships.

The first to spot it was a sentinel holding a firearm; he initially thought it was one of their allies but later realized it wasn’t, as the underside of that black warship unmistakably bore a large Federation emblem.

"It’s a Federation warship!"

He was on high alert!

Everyone braced themselves, simultaneously feeling incredulous.

What happened to their defense system? Did it malfunction? Why neither intercept nor pre-warn, allowing this warship to intrude as though no one were there?

The pirate leader issued combat readiness instructions, "How many warships are there in total?"

Beside him, the pilot stammered, "O-One ship!"

"One ship? The Federation sent just one warship?" The pirate leader was stunned, knowing that even with a force as many as theirs, the Federation could not wipe them out. Could it be that... the Federation didn’t come to fight them but to negotiate?

Upon this thought, he chuckled complacently, "Then there’s nothing to fear, destroy it!"

Negotiate?

Out of the question.

He gave the order, but no response came from other warships. Frowning, he asked, "What’s going on?"

The pilot, alarmed, pointed to the sky’s warship, "S-sir, look."

The warship in the sky began lighting up in large areas, its black hull appearing like scales turning, revealing layers of dazzling silver light.

And with this transformation, its massive body presented itself in full view of all present.

The pirate leader quivered in awe, "This, this is—"

It was the star system’s number one warship, the Annihilator, which accompanied the Imperial Marshal in battles throughout the entire Federation.

Within the wide viewing window of the warship, a man clad in black uniform gazed down upon everyone from atop.

This was the most handsome man in the entire empire, yet also the most ruthless and cold-blooded.

With his tall stature, the uniform fit seamlessly on his body, even buttoned up to the topmost neck button, strict and austere.

His skin appeared a circle of deathly pale under the cold light.

He grasped lightly a golden scepter of the Empire Star, a symbol of authority and a herald of death.

The Imperial Marshal hadn’t come to negotiate; he came to eradicate the pirates.

Leaving none alive.

The pirate leader, cocky just a moment ago, was now completely flustered.

Wasn’t it said that the Imperial Marshal had gone on an expedition to the K34B star system? That he wouldn’t return for decades, then why is he—

If the Imperial Marshal hadn’t left, they wouldn’t have dared rob Federation supply stars and space stations even if given a hundred lives!

"What to do... what to do..." Cold sweat dripped down the pirate leader’s face.

Not just him, other pirates were equally scared stiff.

This youngest general of the empire was the only marshal in the star system who intimidated the entire Federation. He hailed from a fallen noble family, possessed with the lowest resources, yet carved a bloody path through the Federation.

No one dared to contend with his brilliance.

"Escape! Hurry!"

Someone shouted such words, stirring everyone from their daze to scramble onto warships, preparing to flee.

The Imperial Marshal watched coldly as the pirates, who had slaughtered countless civilians, scattered like panicked ants.

"The Annihilator requests to execute orders." The AI’s tone turned cold and commanding.

The Imperial Marshal uttered, word by word, "Execute clearance plan."

Once more, the AI’s mechanical voice echoed.

"Clearance plan about to commence, all civilians evacuate."

"Clearance plan about to commence, all civilians evacuate."

"Clearance plan about to commence, all civilians evacuate."

"Countdown beginning."

The vast starry sky displayed a line of glowing digits, marking a two-minute countdown.

The pirates moved swiftly, each piloting their warships away within just a minute.

Under faster-than-light travel, they could cover several planets within a minute.

Even though there were no longer warships on the ground, the countdown in the night skies continued.

Until the final second was up, the Annihilator launched its pursuit of the fleeing ships.

...

Thirty seconds later.

The universe returned to silence.

Inside the cockpit, the Annihilator’s AI reverted to its cutesy mechanical voice, "Honey, it’s time to eat, tonight’s dinner is very sumptuous."

But the Imperial Marshal never got to eat that meal, as they encountered a star collapse on their return.

This large star had been collapsing for a long time, usually stable, yet unexpectedly shrank dramatically into a black hole in the last few seconds.

The Annihilator got caught in the black hole’s gravitational pull.

An unprecedented alarm blared within the cockpit.

They couldn’t go back, K93 Star System.

The Imperial Marshal faced his impending death with calm and collected composure.

He, having journeyed and battled across lands, was bound one day to perish along the way.

He stroked the control panel, and softly said, "Annihilator, your service ends here; you are the empire’s glory."

The AI’s voice remained silent for a long while before solemnly replying, "Marshal, you are too."

The next moment, it spoke steadily, "Hibernation pod initiating."

The view inside the cockpit changed rapidly, the previous viewing window gone, replaced by a wall hanging with a screen, from which a luxurious hibernation pod, sufficient to maintain a person for hundreds of years, rose from the ground.

The Imperial Marshal frowned, "Annihilator, what are you trying to do?"

The AI voice remained calm.

"Hibernation pod detaching, medical bay initiating."

"Weapon bay prepared for launch to counter black hole gravity."

"Marshal, rest assured."

In the next second, as the AI calmly said, "Initiating hibernation pod."

The interior of the cockpit blared an alarm never heard before.

Returning to the K93 Star System was no longer possible.

The Imperial Marshal gently caressed the console, softly speaking: "Annihilator, your service ends here."

The AI responded in a calm voice, "Hibernation pod activation."

A powerful dizzying sensation washed over the Imperial Marshal as his brainwave frequency reached its peak. The Imperial Marshal lost consciousness.

In the next second, he heard it speak calmly, "Exiting injectors in place, preparing to counteract gravitational pull."

A luxury hibernation pod, capable of keeping a person supplied for hundreds of years, began to rise from the ground, and a few seconds later, the Imperial Marshal found himself losing consciousness.

On the screen rose a series of coordinates as if whispering him to sleep.

Habitat module set up, coordinates locked.

Virgo Supercluster, Milky Way Galaxy, Earth.
