Seventh level. Death tunnel.Upon arriving, Su Yu said nothing and activated his blood character. Blood started condensing midair. Too many experts had died here. Since Old Zhou did not have the habit of consuming blood, quite a lot of blood was left behind. Before long, a drop of blood took form.
Devil blood.
Su Yu raised his brow. He had gathered Invincible blood essence of the immortals and divines before. But this was his first drop of devil Invincible blood essence. Not bad at all.
Next, he dragged the little furball out and said, "Look around for carrier treasures."
Su Yu had used all his accumulated carrier treasures. He was rich enough to act wantonly like this. There was no need to hold back since he did not intend to give those carrier treasures to anyone else. Nothing was more important than his own strength. His Mark of Civilization was already good enough that perhaps even Invincibles would fight each other to the death to obtain it.
Of course, Su Yu had not exhausted all his treasures. He still had his two dragonblood fruit trees. The smaller of the two was too small to serve as a carrier treasure, but the bigger one would do fine as a carrier treasure. He was keeping it for emergencies.
The little furball was unhappy at being told to work, but he still moved out and started sniffing everywhere for something good. For him, carrier treasures smelled good as well. Before long, he returned with a leaf atop his head. The leaf was emitting a weak sense of life.
"What is this?"
Su Yu was quite surprised. Was that a carrier treasure?
Lan Tian was quite knowledgeable. With one look, he said, "This might be a leaf from an ancient source establishment tree. It was rumored that there was a gigantic source establishment tree here in the ancient past. It was incomparably tough, and even a single piece of leaf from this tree was good enough to serve as a carrier treasure. This might be one of these leaves."
Su Yu was surprised to hear that. Even a leaf was good enough to serve as a carrier treasure?
Each tree should have countless leaves, right?
"Is that true?"
"It's a rumor." Lan Tian smiled and said, "It might not be true. Even if it's true, I doubt every single leaf is good enough."
Su Yu nodded understandingly. This was similar to Old Zhou's nasal hair. Not every strand of hair could serve as a carrier treasure. He walked toward the death tunnel, noting that not a single death spirit was left in the area. Even the heavenly laws in his immediate surroundings had been demolished.
Xing Yue looked at the tunnel and said, "Leaving through this tunnel now will be your best choice. Nobody will even notice it..."
Su Yu smiled, "It's not that simple. I believe countless death spirits are waiting not far away. The moment you enter, they might tear you apart."
Xing Yue looked at him suspiciously. "How do you know that?"
What a stupid question. Su Yu was left quite speechless. With something so major happening here, it must have attracted the attention of numerous death spirits. Did she somehow lose her recently gained brain?
"Just wait here, Lord. Don't run around. I will think of a way to take you out. This tunnel is too dangerous for you."
"Hmph!"
Xing Yue answered with a snort. In Su Yu's ears, that was a yes. He looked at the entrance to the eighth level and...blanked out. Where was the entrance?
How odd. Wasn't the entrance there before? Where was it now? What in the world? Why was the entrance gone? He soared into the sky. Lan Tian did the same. The two looked around, but they found nothing.
With a frown, Su Yu took his mayor's medallion out. After activating it, he said, "Mayor of Grand Dream City, Su Yu, is reporting for duty at the assembly. Please open the entrance." Only silence answered him. But a short while later, a gate appeared. It slowly opened, as though it was hesitating. After it was sure that the seventh level was safe, it finally opened fully.
A mechanical voice rang out, "Identity verification."
Next, a wave of power swept over Su Yu's body. When it reached his sea of willpower, it searched the little furball as well. But when it reached the Culture Tomb, the power of the laws carrying out the inspection was interrupted slightly.
After a long while, the mechanical voice rang out again, "Mayor of Grand Dream, Grandstar, Empyrean Cloud, and Rainbow Rain Cities. Guardian of Culture Grave. Grade-four authority. Entry to the grade-three area is prohibited."
Su Yu blanked out. He did not understand fully. Guardian of Culture Grave? Culture Grave...Culture Tomb. Was the Culture Tomb...actually the tomb of the Culture King? Did his ownership over the Culture Tomb make him the guardian of the grave?
Su Yu was confused. And what did a grade-four authority signify? Was grade one the highest level of authority? And who was the speaker? Was this the voice generated by the heavenly laws? Or was this someone alive?
Su Yu asked, "Senior, are you the heavenly laws or are you a living being?"
"..."
Su Yu was rendered speechless. That sounded like something a living being would say. But if this was a living being...what a terrifying thing to know. He suddenly started fearing the prospect of entering the eighth level.
With a wide smile, Lan Tian said, "Principal of Human Realm's Heavenly Dao Academy, Lan Tian, is back to report to the assembly."
Once again, Su Yu blanked out. What?
When the power of the heavenly laws completed the scan on Lan Tian, the mechanical voice rang out again, "Principal of Heavenly Dao Academy. Grade-seven authority."
"..."
Lan Tian disagreed with the assessment, "Is this right? I'm the principal of the Heavenly Dao Academy! If even Su Yu can get a grade-four authority, how am I a grade-seven?"
The voice ignored his protest.
Lan Tian continued, "From the ancient records, the Heavenly Dao Academy was the main academy in charge of educating humanity during the ancient past. A principal of such an academy should be comparable to some marquises. How am I only a grade seven? Take a closer look at the name of the academy. Isn't that a cool name?"
Nobody replied.
Su Yu looked at Lan Tian with astonishment and asked, "Senior, do you mean that your authority is low?"
Lan Tian snorted.
"What else? It's obvious. The first grade is probably the highest grade. How is the seventh grade not low?"
Su Yu shrugged. He was quite confused as well. Was his grade high or low? The mayor of Grand Dream City should be quite high in grade, right? More importantly, was his authority a result of Grand Dream City or the Culture Tomb? He was unsure. He knew too little about the ancient past.
Also, what was this voice? Was this the manifestation of the heavenly laws or an actual living being? He only knew that he had to be careful here. Things felt dangerous.
After taking a look at the dark entrance, Su Yu looked at Xing Yue and reminded her, "Lord, remember to wait here for me. Don't run off by yourself."
"Hmph!" Xing Yue said furiously, "Are you ordering me?"
"Not at all." Su Yu said, "I'm going on a mission for you, Lord. Please wait for my good news here. I will be reporting back to you soon!"
Xing Yue didn't deign to say anything else.
With a chuckle, Su Yu stepped into the entrance. After a short moment, the world before him brightened as he found himself reappearing in a large hall.
It was a majestic hall.
The mechanical voice rang out again, "Wait here. Do not roam around without being summoned."
"..."
Su Yu was speechless. Was this for real? Everyone here was dead. Who would be summoning him? Was this a joke?
Just then, Lan Tian wrinkled his nose and signalled Su Yu before pointing at the ground. There, a dried stain could be seen. He sent a voice transmission, "Kid, blood. Fresh blood."
Su Yu raised his brow and sent the little furball a voice transmission, "Take a sniff. Check whose blood this is."
The little furball did as told, but he looked incredibly unwilling. He had been lacking motivation lately as he had not been paid for all his work.
He lazily said, "This...seems to be that blood...blood devil king...Blood Fire? I think so."
He spoke with zero enthusiasm.
Su Yu's heart thumped. Blood Fire? So Blood Fire was still alive? Su Yu furrowed his brows. That was a ninth-degree Eternal. That wouldn't be an easy opponent. Why was that fellow not dead? Sure enough, when one reached such a level in cultivation, one wouldn't die easily. Not even Old Zhou had succeeded in killing him.
They were surrounded by darkness. Looking around from where they stood, it felt as though they were looking into the boundless void.
Su Yu wondered about the builder of this place. Was this where everyone would wait when they came to report for their duties in the ancient past?
How miserable.
How overly bureaucratic.
Anyone capable of setting foot here would be a respectable expert. Yet someone like that would be forced to wait here like a child.
Su Yu said nothing. Instead, he activated the deceit character and covered himself before phasing into the ground and becoming a part of Lan Tian's shadow.
Lan Tian started feeling uncomfortable. He sent a voice transmission, "Kid, you're giving me a lot of pressure. I keep feeling like you will jump up and kill me at any moment."
"Impossible. I'm not that kind of person."
"You are."
"I'm not."
"You are."
"..."
Fine, fine. Su Yu decided to stop wasting his time arguing. Then, Lan Tian checked the direction the blood on the ground was heading toward and dove into the darkness. Despite having entered the darkness, they had yet to leave the hall.
***
From above, the hall only covered a small corner of the eighth level.
It was unremarkable, but independently, it was massive.
Countless buildings could be seen all over the eighth level. Each of them was incomparably massive.
The buildings were not strewn about disorderly. Rather, hundreds of buildings came together to form a palace complex at the very center of the level. The complex was not surrounded by walls. Instead, it was surrounded by massive statues.
Each statue depicted a different life form. Gigantic lion, ferocious hou, majestic phoenix, mysterious dragon, ethereal immortal, overbearing divine, and domineering devil could be seen among the statues.
All in all, there were ninety-nine of these statues, serving as the walls of the palace complex. A shut gate could be seen below each statue.
Above them, an indistinct formation could be seen. And an indistinct silhouette could be seen seated cross-legged above the formation. One person, suppressing all lives for eternity.
Also floating above the palace were two massive characters.
Myriad Realms.
Yes. Myriad Realms.
All around the palace complex, numerous glorious residences stood.
Culture King's Residence.
Martial King's Residence.
War King's Residence.
Peace King's Residence.
Divine Emperor's Residence.
Devil Emperor's Residence.
Immortal Emperor's Residence.
The Pseudo Emperors of the ancient past were also the Emperors of their respective races. Thus, their residences were known as emperor residences while the human king residences were known as king residences.
Surrounding the various king and emperor residences were the various marquis residences. Among the marquis residences was a relatively small residence: Heavenly Overseer Marquis' Residence. Yes. This was the ancient residence of the Heavenly Overseer Marquis.
Beyond the marquis residences were the residences of the well-known titled generals. These were the only people qualified to live here. The titled generals qualified to build a residence here would be the best among the best. Even some of the weaker marquises would only be allowed to reside on the seventh level.
Naturally, there was also a king residence on the seventh level, but that was the sole king residence there. It was there to suppress the death tunnel.
The hall stood beyond all the residences. It was akin to a gate. After going the gate, one could go through the various residences before reaching the Myriad Realm Palace.
