The white dog was surprisingly easygoing. He had agreed to almost all of Su Yu's requests after arriving. He was only stubborn about one thing: his mission to guard his master's home.Su Yu did not know if this was due to the white dog's kindness, or perhaps the white dog had only been so helpful due to his inheritance from the Time Sage and Culture King. Was that why the white dog had refrained from biting him? Unfortunately, he was in a rush. He would have loved to spend more time with this loyal dog.
Not wanting to waste more time, Su Yu stood up and said, "Senior Fat Ball, I'll be taking my leave for now."
He looked at the book spirit and tea plant. With a slight hesitation, he asked, "Could you...hide for a bit?"
"Hide?" The tea plant looked at the book spirit, who nodded with a smile. Then, he transformed back into a book. As for the tea plant, she also vanished, turning into an imprint on the cover of the book.
For some reason, Culture King seemed to love books a lot.
That much was obvious from how a mere book he had written had grown so strong after developing sentience. Then again, the original form of the book, the Myriad Dao Sutra, was most likely something special as well.
The book spirit said, "If the human lord is interested, I can enter your sea of willpower and read you some texts..."
Entering his sea of willpower? Previously, the book had called him a young friend. Now, the book was calling him the human lord. He did not realize the significance behind this change.
He only knew that it was very dangerous to open up his sea of willpower to strangers. Then again, his sea of willpower was already quite a happening place. It had the Book of Time, Mark of Civilization, Culture Tomb, and the little furball in it.
And now, a spirit formed of the Myriad Dao Sutra was offering to enter with a tea spirit to read him some texts. After a slight hesitation, Su Yu stopped worrying. In truth, these people already knew everything about him. His biggest secret was the Book of Time. And these three were already aware of his biggest secret.
Also, if they wanted to kill him, they could simply do it directly. There wouldn't be a need for them to first gain access to his sea of willpower.
"Sure." Su Yu agreed, "I'll be troubling you, Senior."
"I'm only doing what is right."
With a flash, the book vanished. Inside Su Yu's sea of willpower, an additional book appeared. This was the third book in his sea of willpower. Both the Mark of Civilization and Book of Time were books as well. Su Yu had somehow turned into a book collector.
Unlike the Book of Time, the Myriad Dao Sutra was white in color. When the book saw the Book of Time, the book spirit's voice rang out, "The Book of Time's spirit...has been destroyed. Only a weak pre-sentience remains. It is now similar to that ancient tree in the courtyard. This book was heavily damaged before..."
The book spirit was written by Culture King while the Book of Time was forged by Time Sage. Thus, he was lower in status.
Culture King might have put a decent amount of effort into writing the Myriad Dao Sutra, but the Book of Time was Time Sage's ultimate weapon, something she had exhausted countless resources to make. Thus, there was no comparing the two.
A spirit of something like the Book of Time could probably reach the Great Dao Realm right after birth. Sensing the greatly weakened Book of Time, the book spirit had complicated emotions.
Was Little Mistress really dead?
She wouldn't have given up on a book she had worked so hard on otherwise.
Perhaps...she was really dead.
Perhaps Fat Ball...could no longer see his little master. He would no longer receive praise for the flowers he had taken good care of.

Su Yu said nothing else.
With the book spirit and tea plant gone, he cupped his fists at the white dog and said, "Thank you, Senior."
The white dog cupped his paws in response.
Then, he spat three drops of golden blood out. Instantly, an intense fragrance filled the courtyard, but the fragrance was withdrawn into the three drops almost as soon as it appeared. With a slightly weakened tone, the white dog said, "Take this. You don't need to activate its imprint in the book. You can directly utilize its power after absorbing it. My imprint in the book is always active."
"Thank you."
Once again, Su Yu thanked the white dog.
Three drops of blood essence!
He did not know if this was a high price for the white dog, but he could only hope that it wasn't. He had a lot of respect for a loyal dog like this. Compared to the white dog, Heavenly Overseer Marquis was a true scumbag.
The white dog said nothing. Instead, he started watering the flowers again. Su Yu stood there and watched for a bit. The sight of a dog watering flowers was slightly comical, but he couldn't bring himself to laugh. Something about this scene was...saddening. He wondered if the white dog would feel lonely without the book spirit and tea plant around.
Su Yu vowed to finish the battle as soon as possible and take them back. In a way, this place was a hidden paradise. Its tranquillity had remained for ten epochs. Alas, he had broken its peace. Built in the middle of a sea of flowers, this residence was truly akin to a secluded paradise.
Su Yu couldn't understand Culture King's decision to leave this place back then. Was staying in such a paradise not better than becoming the Culture King? But at that thought, Su Yu recalled his own decision to leave. He had also been offered the choice to stay here long-term.
The white dog had allowed him to stay here so long as he stayed out of Culture King's house. Nobody could reach this place. He would be safe here. Not even Daofuses could reach this place. Perhaps Great Dao experts would be required to break into this place.
But could Su Yu accept that offer? He really liked this place. Unfortunately, this was not his paradise.
With such thoughts, Su Yu started walking away. Suddenly, the white dog's voice rang out, "Hey, I forgot to ask. What's your name?"
"Su Yu!"
"Su Yu..." The white dog said, "Okay. If you can't defeat them, just hide here. If you encounter Master and Little Master out there, remind them to come back. Tell them I have been taking good care of this place. I miss them."
"I will."
Su Yu did not look back. But his mood dropped further.
One dog. A hundred thousand years. The dog was still waiting.
Waiting for his masters.
Culture King and Time Sage.
Suddenly, Su Yu thought of himself. If he were to die in battle, would anyone wait a hundred thousand years for him? His father wouldn't live that long. He doubted that someone capable of living that long would be willing to wait a hundred thousand years for him in a small house.
Finally, Su Yu stopped before the waterfall.
Behind Su Yu, the white dog put away the teapot and cups before sitting in front of the door and looking at Su Yu's departing back. He kept looking until Su Yu was gone from his vision. Only then did he lie on his stomach with a lonely look in his eyes. He continued lying there while staring at the waterfall.
It had been so long since he saw someone new.
But that someone new had left so soon after arriving.
He remembered his master and little master leaving like this many years ago as well. First, his master left and started coming back less and less. Then, his little master left and started coming back less and less as well. Until finally, the little master left to never return.
Subsequently, the master returned once and informed him that the master was going to look for the little master. But the master had also gone missing after that.
The white dog lay on his stomach in melancholy. Gone. All of them were gone.
Was his little master dead?
Was his master dead?
He saw the Book of Time. That was Little Master's strongest treasure. How would Little Master give up on that book?
"Woof! Woof!"
After barking at the thin air a few times, the white dog shut his eyes. He wanted to sleep, but he was afraid that he wouldn't wake up in time to welcome Master and Little Master when they returned.
It had been so, so, so long since he last had a good sleep. He had taken such good care of these flowers. When would Little Master return to look at them?
Just one glance. That would be enough.
Just one glance, before giving him a scratch behind his ears and telling him he was a good boy. That would be the happiest day in his life.
He wouldn't leave. He would wait here for them to return.
He was afraid that if he left, nobody would be here to welcome them when they returned.
With that tiny bit of hope in him, the white dog entered a light sleep. Complete silence engulfed the hidden paradise yet again.
***
As Su Yu's vision blurred, he found himself back in the outside world.
When he looked behind him, he felt as though he could still see the white dog waiting for his master alone.
Gasps rang out all around him.
Then, someone exclaimed, "Holy Lord!"
Su Yu turned around to see the same group of people waiting for him. He hadn't left for long, but he felt like he had traveled through two different eras. Things were peaceful and calm in the Culture King's Residence. But out here, a warlike atmosphere filled the air, alongside a thick stench of blood. He was reminded that the war had yet to end. Peace had yet to come.
Zhu Tiandao and the others focused on Su Yu. They were quite disappointed to see that nothing much had changed. Su Yu had not returned as an Invincible. Then again, Su Yu hadn't been inside for long. He did not have enough time to cultivate. Even if he did find some treasures in the ruin, he wouldn't have the time to make use of them. Also, it was unlikely that a mere treasure would be able to help against Daofuses.
Junior Zhou King said, "Holy Lord, this waterfall is fading away..."
Since Su Yu had stopped keeping the Book of Time active, the waterfall was on the verge of fading away.
"It's fine. You don't have to maintain it anymore."
At that, Junior Zhou King stopped pouring his energy into the waterfall, allowing it to fade into nothingness. Everything appeared the same. Yet everything had changed. On the other side of the valley, there was a field of flowers, an ancient residence, a dog, and an ancient tree. The dog was there, faithfully waiting for the return of his masters.
While Su Yu was deep in thought, everyone was looking at him in anticipation. So what was the result of his visit? Were there any gains?
Marquis Xia, in particular, was feeling even more anxious than the others. His father had been slammed against the realm barrier several times. There was still only one face up in the sky. So how did he know? Because he had felt several similar impacts since then. And he believed only his father could survive that repeatedly. Great Ming King would probably lose the ability to fight after being slammed into the realm barrier once.
Marquis Xia noted that apart from having slightly recovered, nothing much had changed with Su Yu. He couldn't resist asking, "SuHoly Lord, did you gain anything in there?"
"The gains are decent." Su Yu did not explain. He exhaled and said, "Let's go. We'll see how things are at the realm entrance."
"Yes!"
Nobody protested. That was something they had to do. Even if Su Yu hadn't gained much from the ruin, he still had the female furball around.
Seeing that Su Yu was back, the female furball tried to enter the Mark of Civilization again. But suddenly, she blanked out as she looked at the other side of the sea of willpower. There, she saw a book with a plump girl on it.
A female furball and a plump girl stared at each other with blinking eyes. Shortly after, the plump girl exclaimed, "Wow! Another Soy Bun?"
"I'm Flatbun! Who are you?"
The female furball was very curious. This wasn't someone she knew.
The plump girl asked again, "Are you Soy Bun?"
"I told you! I'm Flatbun!"
"Oh, oh. I'm Tea Plant..."
"I don't know you."
