Instead of stabbing at the incoming sword, Su Yu targeted the dark River of Time. The sword of his opponent continued forth, stabbing through the Mark of Civilization and breaking through the many layers of defenses erected by the beastly projections in the book before hitting the Heaven Gate.

Right at that moment, a powerful defensive barrier appeared atop Su Yu's skin. That was the defensive barrier his body had produced naturally after seventy-two forgings.

Even the defensive barrier was broken through by the sword. However, Su Yu remained calm. Just then, his pen struck his opponent's River of Time. With a rumble, the entire river roiled, looking like it was about to break apart.

At the same time, the appearance of the shadow devil was finally revealed before Su Yu. This was a dark-skinned devil with a single horn on his forehead. He had a surprised look on his face.

Su Yu's defense was way more powerful than he had imagined. Clearly, Su Yu had been growing rapidly.

As for the ancient cities, Grandstar City was the only city not suffering from any death spirit disturbance. After all, death spirits were no pets of Su Yu. The death spirits might have killed some of his enemies before, but that was mainly due to the fact that those enemies were living beings. If Su Yu had appeared before them as a living being, they would attack him all the same.

The death sovereigns under the various ancient cities seemed to be viewing this as an opportunity. All of them were wreaking havoc in the death tunnels, intensifying the burden on the various ancient guardians. They couldn't leave without a proper reason as that would result in a punishment by the heavenly laws. Thus, this was their way of protesting without going against the heavenly laws.

If they could somehow break the death tunnels doing this and remove the barrier between the Death Realm and the Allheaven Battlefield, the fault would be placed on the ancient guardians, not them.

The laws would always provide one with a way out, including the death spirits. Thus, all the ancient guardians were forced to suppress the death qi in their death tunnels while fighting their opponents.

Before long, about thirty more Invincibles arrived. They had the numbers to completely ruin the current balance between the two sides. With the addition of the newcomers, over 130 Invincibles from the myriad races had gathered outside the Human Realm. There were also about forty Invincibles gathered outside the Celestial Chasm Realm to prevent the human Invincibles trapped there from returning.

"Are the two of you capable of defeating or killing two death spirit marquises?"
