Chapter 1825: Old Wan Is Still The Best (2)

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Su Yu did not know much about Culture King, but he could feel the arrogance and pride of Culture King. He must have the ability to split his character technique to make it easier to study. But he had not done so. He probably believed that a fool was not qualified to inherit his dao.

No ordinary person could understand the pride of a genius like that. Even Culture King himself knew very well that his dao might be left masterless forever.

That much was clear from what his recorded projection had said previously. The projection had said that humanity might have ceased to exist by the time it was out. Evidently, Culture King had not expected anyone to inherit his dao anytime soon.

However, his students were surprisingly capable. Unfortunately, it was likely that they were truly bad at combat. They must have exhausted all their time and energy on research, neglecting their cultivation before dying from old age.

Or perhaps their study of the pen dao had killed them through backlash. After all, they had split the dao. In any case, Su Yu intended to gather them and help them recover their memories.

Suddenly, Su Yu thought of someone else and said, "There's also Ye Batian. Try to look for him. He Tu, you know him. Try to keep an eye."

He Tu laughed and said, "Ye Batian...yes, his death was truly regrettable. He would have reached Daofuse by now if he were still alive. He was also the one to make public the existence of Culture King's inheritance."

Ye Batian was a hard person to criticize. But he must have discovered the secrets of the various daos prior to his death. After gaining the ability to see the various daos with his eyes, Su Yu was starting to understand Ye Batian. He must have initiated the research on character fusion back then after discovering some of the secrets behind the various daos. The value of those secrets had dropped significantly since Su Yu opened his Heaven Gate.

Without Ye Batian, Liu Wenyan wouldn't have been forced to hide in Nanyuan for so many years. And in turn, Su Yu wouldn't have joined the multiple character faction. He wouldn't have inherited the pen dao. He would have missed out on a lot of things. He would be in a completely different situation today.

With only the Book of Time, he would probably still be hiding himself and absorbing blood essence in secret to grow strong. And after a few years, the Upper Realm would open and humanity would be exterminated. That would be the end of his story.

Su Yu said, "Just try to look for him. If he's nowhere to be found, so be it. He has only died recently, so he might not have awakened yet. But with the recent disturbance of the river, I suspect that the recently deceased will start awakening as well. Perhaps we can find him. Or perhaps he was unlucky enough to die right after awakening. In that case, there's nothing we can do."

He Tu nodded. He would keep an eye.

After making all the arrangements, Su Yu prepared to leave. No matter what, the Death Realm was too depressing a place for him to stay long.

***

He did not stay in East Heavenly Domain for long.

After a short while, he returned to the Spirit Suppression Domain. There, he thought about something before flying toward the ancient castle beneath Grandstar City. That was the sole ancient castle in the Spirit Suppression Domain. Or to be precise, that was the sole death sovereign remaining here.

***

"Chief Commander!"

Kingdom of Xing Yue.

The commanders under Xing Yue still remembered Su Yu. But right after, the one named Xing One by Su Yu hurriedly corrected himself, "Greetings, Emperor Yu!"

Clearly, the death spirits here were up to date with the recent happenings as well. They knew who ruled the current Death Realm.

Su Yu smiled and asked, "Where is Lord Xing Yue?"

"Inside the castle."

Su Yu waved his hand and sent them off before moving to the dark palace. The surroundings of the palace were decorated with some dark plants, but this was by no means a pleasant sight.

Then again, one couldn't expect too much from the Death Realm. One should be happy with any plant. One shouldn't be too picky.

Seated on her throne, Xing Yue stared at him coldly. With the connection between her and Su Yu, she was aware of his arrival. She asked frostily, "Why are you here?"

"What is this, Lord? I am here to make a report to you. I have conquered the Death Realm for you. From now on, the Death Realm is yours."

Xing Yue was losing her mind. What the hell was he talking about? Sure enough, Su Yu was still as good at spouting nonsense.

"Hmph!"

She snorted instead of replying. Su Yu chuckled indifferently and sat down like this was his own home. Then, he looked at Xing Yue again and said, "Lord, have you regained more of your memories recently?"

"I can't be bothered to recall them." Xing Yue was clearly not in the mood to converse.

Su Yu said, "Come on, I believe you have a noble identity. You might know some secrets, or perhaps the location of some treasure vaults. Maybe I can dig those treasures out for you, Lord? We are lacking in both people and wealth recently. Allow me to be of service and dig these treasures out for you."

With an eager look, Su Yu continued, "Lord, do you remember any treasures left by the Human Emperor?"

"No!" Xing Yue asked coldly, "Is this why you're here?"

"Not really. I only asked in passing. I'm mainly here to visit you, Lord." Su Yu grinned and said, "I now know the steps involved in resurrecting a death spirit. But I still lack a lot of things to actually do it. For example, the paper dao. The pen, ink, and inkstone daos have all found their successors. But the paper dao is still not with me. Even with the paper dao as well, I might still need more things to do it."

Su Yu asked, "Lord Xing Yue, do you remember any of this?"

If Culture King was really here to resurrect her back then, would she remember it happening? She was an ancient being that had been here for an untold amount of time. She was able to enjoy her time in her very own castle. She was very different from the other death spirits.

She was essentially a super shut-in. It wasn't that she couldn't leave, but she had opted to stay for over a hundred thousand years here. That dedication to remain a shut-in was truly admirable.

Did she remember Culture King? According to Su Yu's speculation, Culture King's resurrection target would either be South Heavenly King or Xing Yue.

Xing Yue frowned as she stared at Su Yu for a long while before saying, "Is resurrecting a good thing? I can see how even living beings like you spend all your time in battles. Endless battles. What is so good about fighting? Battle after battle, shattering the heavens and filling the Myriad Realms with corpses."

Su Yu laughed and said, "I fight because I have no choice. But there are many benefits to being alive."

Xing Yue sneered. Many benefits? She did not think so.

With a chuckle, Su Yu waved his hand. Instantly, a scene of blooming flowers appeared before them. Staring at the projection, Xing Yue blanked out, mesmerized. Su Yu smiled and said, "Lord, this is the benefit of being alive. Look at these flowers. How beautiful are they? The dark and withered flowers of the Death Realm can't compare. There is no endless darkness out there. Endless, boring, darkness."

After a long while, Xing Yue asked with the same blank expression, "Where is this?"

"Culture King's Residence."

"I...seem to remember this place."

Su Yu's eyes flickered. Indeed! Culture King's old residence was not a place just anyone could go. Only a select few could be there.

After staring at the projection for a long while, Xing Yue muttered, "There is a small villa there. There is a tree in the courtyard. Is that so?"

Su Yu nodded.

After some time, Xing Yue shook her head, "I can't remember anything else. I have long forgotten these memories. Perhaps I have met Culture King before. Time Sage..."

Su Yu raised his brow. No way. This couldn't be the Time Sage, right? The Time Sage was still in combat somewhere. Xing Yue blanked out again. Time Sage. Su Yu had first heard this name from her. Prior to that, not even Grandstar and the others were aware of that name.

Suddenly, Xing Yue rubbed her head, as though she had recalled more things. She said, "I think I am recalling something. I might...know Time Sage! Culture King and Time Sage are gone. Human Emperor is gone as well. All that...might be related to Time Sage. She...seemed to have discovered a big secret..."

At this point, her head started aching. She shook her head and said, "A secret related to the River of Time...I think? Time Sage...she was very powerful. She also loved running everywhere, exploring the unknown. She probably knew more secrets of the Myriad Realms than anyone else. She knew too much...hence she disappeared..."

Xing Yue continued muttering for a while. Finally, her aching head reached an intolerable level. She shook her head and said, "We'll stop here. I don't remember anything else. Before coming next time..."

Xing Yue looked at Su Yu again and ordered coldly, "Before coming next time, pluck some of these flowers and bring them here as tribute."

Su Yu grimaced as he said helplessly, "That...won't be easy. A dog is watching this place. Fat Ball. Do you know him?"

"No." Xing Yue coldly said, "These flowers were probably planted by Time Sage. We probably knew each other. A mere dog is not qualified to refuse my request. I'm only asking for some flowers."

"But Senior Fat Ball might not trust my words."

Xing Yue frowned and said, "Trash! Can't you complete a simple task like this?"

She thought about it and said, "Time Sage's dog? I don't remember seeing one. Perhaps I never met him. But I can remember some flashes from the past. I believe I was there before. I visited this garden before. I remember leaving something there..."

Su Yu's eyes widened. What was it? Out with it! Was it a supreme treasure? Xing Yue was actually there before? And she had left a treasure behind? He couldn't miss this!

At his reaction, Xing Yue sneered and said, "Don't get too excited. It's no treasure. I don't remember what it is anymore, but I remember it isn't something too valuable. It must be buried in the back courtyard. If things are still the same, it should be buried under three blue flowers. It might have crumbled apart by now. After all, it has been countless years since then."

Su Yu memorized the description. He did not remember if there were any blue flowers there, but he could always go and take a look. So what treasure had she buried there? Why did this fellow bury her treasure in Culture King's Residence?

Just who was Xing Yue? Su Yu's curiosity was growing. Unfortunately, Xing Yue did not have too many of her memories. Perhaps that was the limitation of her current strength.

Seeing that Su Yu was still not leaving, Xing Yue resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She disliked conversing with him. But she forced herself to say something, "You may leave now. Remember, I don't know about any treasures. I only remember that Time Sage had a book, a book recording a secret. Do you have that book?"

That surprised Su Yu. Had he ever mentioned a book to her? How did she reach this conclusion? A secret in the book?

Su Yu had grown enough to slightly utilize the Book of Time, but he still couldn't control it. Nevertheless, he would start paying more attention to the book due to this reminder. Perhaps he could try and see if he could find the so-called secret.

He had to take the book seriously as that was the very foundation of everything he had right now.

"Sure. Thank you for the guidance, Lord." Su Yu stood up, smiled, and said, "I shall take my leave. I will continue conquering the world for you, Lord. Do remember to notify me if you remember any treasures in the future."

"Hmph!"

Xing Yue snorted coldly. This guy was totally taking her for a fool. Conquering the world for her? What a stupid lie! Su Yu merely chuckled before leaving.

After he was gone, Xing Yue snorted again. Despite her reaction, her mood seemed to have improved significantly. She started decorating her castle again. This was a castle she had worked on for countless years. In the past, she loved this place. But now, she couldn't help but feel that it lacked some color.

Perhaps...life as a living being would indeed be more interesting.

Meanwhile, Su Yu had left through Grandstar City's tunnel.

Naturally, this place was no longer Grandstar's territory. Zhou Potian was the new guardian of the place.

When Su Yu first emerged, Zhou Potian was looking quite nervous. But when he saw who it was, he exhaled in relief and said, "Emperor Yu, my father told me to pass you a message if I see you. He said that you need to return to the Human Realm. Something seems to be off lately. We also received some news from the Upper Realm. Apparently, humanity had suffered a massive loss recently."

Su Yu nodded. News from the Upper Realm?

Massive loss?

So be it.

Seeing how indifferent Su Yu was, Zhou Potian grew anxious as he said, "Emperor Yu, if humanity does lose ground in the Upper Realm, we will be in deep trouble when the Upper Realm opens."

Su Yu glanced at him and said, "Why are you so anxious? Learn from your old man. He's calm all the time."

"This time, even my old man is growing anxious!" Zhou Potian said helplessly, "He has been very anxious after receiving that news. That news is very bad for us. Apparently, a pillar of humanity in the Upper Realm had collapsed."

"Why did the pillar collapse now after so many years of survival?"

Su Yu gave it some thought and shook his head, "There must be a turncoat. I don't know about the Upper Realm well, but I did learn something about that place. We don't have that many survivors up there. Most of these survivors are hiding in some danger zones. Why did one die suddenly? The timing isn't right. Sure enough, even the traitors up there can't sit still anymore."

Zhou Potian did not know why Su Yu was so sure about this, but he had nothing to say as he didn't know much either. He didn't even know who Marquis Minshan was. He was only telling Su Yu this because his father sounded anxious.

Su Yu was completely nonchalant as he asked, "Have you seen Principal Wan anywhere lately?"

"No."

"Fine. Send him a message if you do see him..."

But suddenly, Su Yu thought of a better way to contact someone. He flew out of the city and roared, "Principal Wan, if you hear this, please take a trip back to the Human Realm! We need to discuss our conquest of the Myriad Realms!"

His voice spread everywhere. Clearly, he was as arrogant as ever.

In fact, he would be more than happy to see some myriad race experts ambushing him right now. He could have Grand Dream City arrive with all the experts inside, catching all these ambushers by surprise. This would save him the trouble of hunting these myriad race experts down.
