Chapter 1969: Catching Up With Martial Emperor (1)

Eighth level.

The world was shaking.

The moment Su Yu left the ninth level, he was faced with a large amount of power of laws. He was here before, so he knew how powerful this place was. Ninety-nine projections appeared, while the projection of a human appeared above them all. Ninety-nine beams of light shot toward Su Yu.

"Impudent!"

That roar did not come from Su Yu. Rather, it came from the human projection above them. It was not a real human. It was merely the manifestation of the power of laws. The massive human projection suppressed the ninety-nine beams.

Su Yu looked around. On one side, there was the manifestation of humanity. On the other side, there was the manifestation of the myriad races. He did not waste too much of his time here. He took out two tokens nonchalantly.

His human lord's token and Xing Yu's token.

With the inclusion of the two tokens, the aura of the human projection surged. Initially, the ninety-nine beams were pushing it back. But now, it was able to push back.

This was a clash of wills. A clash of fortune.

Prior to this, Su Yu wouldn't have the ability to participate in it.

But he had grown significantly since then. He also had the fortune of humanity and Xing Yu's token with him. His fortune had surged enough that he could even suppress the fortune of the myriad races.

Loud rumbles rang out repeatedly.

Su Yu looked around and did not bother to participate more in the clash between the projections. He looked down at the assembly building.

Then, he roared, "Heavenbridge. Show yourself."

His voice spread everywhere.

Shortly after, a gate appeared midair before transforming into an old man. Heavenbridge Marquis was slack-jawed, but he recovered quickly before rushing over in excitement, "Emperor Yu! You're back!"

His excitement was real. It wasn't feigned. That was way too scary. Earlier, he had thought that it was someone else who had returned. He wouldn't even be that scared if it was really Human Emperor. He was more worried that Human Emperor was dead and the myriad races were the ones returning. That would be way too scary.

When Heavenbridge Marquis moved nearer to Su Yu, he looked around and exclaimed in joy, "Stable Army, Shadow, Cloud Fire, Cloud Water, Brave Martial...you're all here!"

Then, he looked at Great Zhou King uncertainly before ignoring the unknown face. He said, "Emperor Yu! Did you go to the Upper Realm? Did you wipe out the old human antiques? Did you win? You must have won, right?"

Once again, Su Yu felt like the gate talked too much.

He couldn't be bothered to answer all those questions. After shooting the clashing projections another glance, he looked at Heavenbridge Marquis and said, "How has Martial Emperor been?"

"That scoundrel has been bullying your loyal servant every single day!" Heavenbridge Marquis started complaining, "He has regained some of his power and formed a willpower body for himself. He is very strong, much stronger than this loyal servant! Now, I can only keep watch over the eighth level. That scoundrel tried to get me to teleport him up, but I would never betray you, Emperor Yu!

"When I sternly refused him, he tried to kill me! He is too strong, even with only a willpower body. He is far stronger than I! Can you defeat him, Your Majesty? If you can't, I'll teleport you straight to the underground level. You can make him bald instead!"

Shadow Marquis and the others were staring at Heavenbridge Marquis with astonishment. So this guy was still around? He seemed as talkative as ever. So many people had died, but this guy had survived. Sure enough, those undeserving of death tended to die early while those deserving of death tended to live long.

Suddenly, Heavenbridge Marquis looked at them and asked, "Are you scolding me inwardly?"

"..."

They ignored him.

"Your Majesty, they're scolding me!" Heavenbridge Marquis complained sorrowfully, "They loved talking badly about me in the past! They were jealous of the favor Culture King showed me! Even when I greeted them, these people would always ignore me!"

Brave Martial General couldn't resist asking, "Heavenbridge Marquis, when did you receive Culture King's favor?"

"I received my title from Culture King himself! What is that if not favor?" Heavenbridge Marquis asked, "Are you denying that?"

They were left speechless. That seemed to be the case. But Heavenbridge's title...they had a nagging feeling that there was a special meaning to it.

Su Yu ignored the conversation and gave Heavenbridge Marquis another look before asking with surprise, "You're now a tier-three Daofuse. Did you grow more recently? You were a tier-four Daofuse previously."

Heavenbridge Marquis grinned and said, "Your Majesty, I had to spend a lot of effort suppressing the chaotic power of laws in the eighth level previously. But recently, the power of laws has dissipated considerably. Furthermore, the people breaking through into the Daofuse Realm in the mansion previously had also absorbed a lot of the ambient power in the air."

Su Yu nodded, "Not bad. If everything goes smoothly, you might be free to leave the mansion after the power of laws in the eighth level is fully subdued. Are you happy to hear that?"

With a sullen face, Heavenbridge Marquis nodded, "Yes. I'm very happy."

Su Yu said, "Good to hear."

Su Yu knew what that fellow was thinking. That fellow was scared of the outside world. It was too dangerous out there. He would rather stay and guard the entrance to the eighth level.

However, Su Yu did not intend to waste a free combat power he could use. He said, "You can continue staying here, but you will probably end up as Martial Emperor's first kill after he regains his freedom."

Heavenbridge Marquis' face stiffened as he nodded, "Yes. Recently, he has been picking fights with me repeatedly. Thank you for the reminder, Emperor Yu."

Surprisingly, he did not argue. He knew very well that it was indeed getting dangerous in here. He had only spent some time chatting with Martial Emperor recently. But for some reason, Martial Emperor grew more and more annoyed with him the more they spoke.

Heavenbridge Marquis believed that it wouldn't be a bad idea to leave the mansion.

"Martial Emperor?"

The ancient humans were surprised to hear that title. They had been ignoring that title when it was mentioned earlier, but they couldn't help but grow curious now.

Lan Tian grinned and said, "Don't you know him? Poor you. The first through seventh levels of the Luminous Domain Mansion were forged from Martial Emperor's body. And Martial Emperor isn't dead. Don't you know that? Did I not mention this before?"

At that, their expressions changed.

Cloud Water Marquis looked at Su Yu and asked, "Emperor Yu, is this Martial Emperor the same Martial Emperor from the final years of the primordial past, the same Martial Emperor subdued by Martial King?"

Su Yu nodded, "Yes."

The others exchanged gazes without revealing their emotions, with Brave Martial being the sole exception. Instead, she exclaimed in joy, "Is he a Master of Law? Since he's alive, can we..."

Su Yu said, "Don't get your hopes up. Martial Emperor holds a deep grudge toward Martial King and the others. Ancient remnants like you guys will not be immune to his hatred as well. Martial King and Culture King forged his very body into a mansion and used his arse as a garden. Do you remember Devote King's place? Yes. That's the spot. What would you do in such a position?"

"..."

Their expressions changed.

Brave Martial asked, "Emperor Yu, you mean...he...upside down?"

Su Yu nodded, "Yep. Isn't that fun?"

"..."

They were rendered completely speechless.

After giving it some thought, Brave Martial General said, "I guess we need to stay away from him."

What could they even say to him?

How fun.

She tried imagining herself in Martial Emperor's position and she concluded that she would probably direct her anger toward ancient humans like them as well. No wonder Su Yu said that they shouldn't be too hopeful about this.

Shadow Marquis sighed and said, "Martial Emperor...he might be the sole Master of Law left. Back then, he was stronger than many Masters of Laws as well. If we can get his help..."

It would be a massive advantage for humanity. Compared to a proper Master of Law like him, those so-called Venerables of the Upper Realm were nothing.

Of course, those Venerables could probably put up a good fight or even win against a Master of Law when working together. After all, these Venerables had actually fulfilled the requirements for advancement. They had simply been stuck for an unknown reason. Then again, Martial Emperor was by no means a regular Master of Law. Thus, nothing was set in stone.

Su Yu seemed rather indifferent to this as he said, "It doesn't matter. He can do whatever he wants so long as he stays out of my way. Anyone standing in my way will be an enemy. And an enemy will naturally be dealt with."

The expressions of the others changed again. Dealt with? How difficult would such a person be to handle?

Su Yu did not harp on the topic. He looked around before looking up at the clashing projections. With a smile, he said, "This is a good opportunity. Great Ming King, pay Radiant King's Residence a visit. That's your ancestor's turf. Maybe you can find some nice surprises there."

Su Yu had visited Culture King's Residence before, but he had not been able to enter two of the rooms there, the ink room and the paper room.

"Lan Tian, go check out the paper dao room of Culture King's Residence. Try opening it. If that's not possible, so be it. I'll try again when I have the Heavenly Hunt Index in hand."

At the moment, Liu Hong had the Heavenly Hunt Index. Thus, Liu Hong would be the key to opening the remaining two rooms there.

"As for Martial King..."

Su Yu considered the matter. The residences of such powerhouses wouldn't be easy to enter. Su Yu only knew of one Martial King descendant in existence, Zhou Hao. He was still busy fighting in the Allheaven Battlefield.

"We'll ignore Martial King's Residence for now. I doubt we can find anything nice in Control King's Residence. As for the rest of you, return to your respective residences and take your stuff in there. Search the other residences you can enter and grab whatever you can."

After giving the others their orders, Su Yu returned his focus to the assembly building. Were there treasures inside? Then again, this was basically a glorified meeting room. It was unlikely that there would be treasures in there. On the other hand, the residences here were probably filled with treasures.

Looking at the powers of laws that were still busy in the sky, Su Yu said, "Let's go. Stop wasting time. Grab anything useful. It's a waste to leave them all here."

"Yes!"

The others were feeling quite excited. It had been too long since Cloud Fire Marquis and the others were separated from this place.

Even during their time in the Lower Realm, they would never enter the Luminous Domain Mansion whenever it opened. The eighth level was simply too dangerous, and Heavenbridge Marquis would not allow anyone entry.

Soon, only Great Zhou King was left beside Su Yu. He looked at Great Zhou King and said with a smile, "Great Zhou King, keep an eye on the two tokens. They are suppressing the powers of laws here, giving the others the chance to search the residences here. I'll pay Martial Emperor a visit."

Great Zhou King asked, "Emperor Yu, shall I join you?"

He was worried that something bad would happen.

"It's fine. He won't try anything before he's fully free. He's afraid that I'll do something drastic and drag him down before dying as well."

Great Zhou King did not insist.

Su Yu was quite curious about Martial Emperor's current status. He had to take a look himself and get an idea of how much longer Martial Emperor would take to regain full freedom. With one look from Su Yu, Heavenbridge Marquis opened the passage to the seventh level.
