Chapter 1989: Chaos VS Torchbearer (3)

Heavenly Fate Marquis nodded with a smile. Then, he looked at Su Yu and said, "Fellow Daoist April, Venerables like us might not need to fight immediately. Can I trouble you to watch over the people from my race when they're in the field?"

Su Yu said, "You are too polite, Senior Heavenly Fate. I will only be acting on my orders."

He had an odd feeling. Why was this guy asking him for that favor? The fate race was too mysterious. Did this old man notice something? No way, right?

Su Yu was extremely cautious, so he could detect any attempt to spy on him. Not even a powerhouse of the fate race could spy on him so easily unless it was a Master of Law.

Heavenly Fate Marquis did not elaborate. He sighed and said, "The tribulation of the myriad races is upon us. I can only hope that the coming war against the chaos race will go smoothly for us."

These phenomena had been around for quite a while, but they had been contained inside the concealing formation previously. With the formation broken, they were finally appearing in the sky.

Venerable Nether was seething with anger.

Yu Xi and the others were all soaked in the blood of the nether experts they had killed.

Dou Ke, who was panting slightly, said, "They teleported over from the Human Mountain. We didn't manage to kill the final Daofuse."

That was not what Yu Xi was concerned with. Rather, she was frowning as she sensed the two rapidly approaching auras.

She sounded helpless as she said, "We failed to complete the mission cleanly. So be it."

"Pick up the speed."

At her order, the group increased its speed. Sensing that their pursuers were closing the gap rapidly, Yu Xi tossed a jade talisman behind with a sneer while shooting forward. Moments later, two figures reached the same spot.

Suddenly, a rumble rang out.

A powerful explosion erupted.

The two Venerables were forced to move aside to avoid the explosion. Venerable Nether frowned. A trap? But the explosion didn't seem too powerful. Suddenly, he looked up at the center of the explosion. There, a spinning mass of energy appeared.

Next, numerous roars rang out. Before the two could resume their pursuit, several ancient beasts emerged nearby before rushing toward them.

Venerable Desolate cursed and said, "They stirred the chaos power here! They know this place too well!"

As they spoke, the four ancient beasts reached them.

Some were running on the ground, and some were flying in the sky. All four were Daofuses.

"Outsiders. Die."

There was intelligence in these ancient beasts. Sensing the rejection of the chaos dao toward these outsiders, they attacked without any hesitation despite the powerful auras the two were emitting.

They were ancient beasts. They had been around since creation.

Boom!

As a battle erupted, Venerable Nether grew angrier.

A dark river manifested in the air. It shot forward, causing space itself to disintegrate in its path before wrapping around one of the ancient beasts. Instantly, the dao of the ancient beast collapsed while the beast itself was reduced into fine powder.

Down below, Venerable Desolate stomped on the ground. Just as a tiger-like beast was about to pounce on him, the ground shook before exploding right under that beast.

With a rumble, the beast was torn apart by the explosion. Two of the four beasts had been slaughtered in the blink of an eye. The two remaining beasts were alarmed, and they hurriedly roared to call for help.

Seeing what they were doing, Venerable Desolate frowned and said, "Venerable Nether, we need to pull back. There are a lot more ancient beasts nearby. If we remain, we might end up encircled by the ancient beasts. That will force us to start the war in advance."

The myriad races were unwilling to start the war before they were even done investigating their enemies.

With an unsightly expression, Venerable Nether gnashed his teeth and said, "We'll leave after killing these beasts."

Venerable Desolate nodded. He did not see the need to refuse such a simple result. The two were far too strong for these beasts to handle. Less than ten seconds after the start of the battle, all four ancient beasts had died.

Right at that moment, a voice rumbled from the distant forest, "Outsiders, you're courting death."

With a snort, he left with Venerable Desolate.

Yu Xi said, "We return for now. These Venerables aren't our targets. Uncle Yue Hao and the others will know what to do about them."

With that, the group resumed their journey back.

Back when Su Yu mentioned Yue Luos' name to Hundred Battle King, he did so to provoke Hundred Battle King into looking for Yue Luo. Even that was suspicious, as why would the chaos race bother mentioning Yue Luo's name if it was really them?

Venerable Scrape and the others started searching the area for clues.

All of them looked solemn.

They had lost two pseudo kings before even starting the war. These people were simply too decisive.

And they were also incredibly brazen.

"Humanity sure is capable."

If it weren't for the internal conflict of humanity, the myriad races would most likely stand no chance against humanity. Fortunately, humanity was not united.
