Sounds started coming out of the gate.
After an indeterminate amount of time, an ancient beast resembling a buffalo emerged with some struggle. First, the buffalo stretched their head out to look around. The sight of the devastation stunned the buffalo.
Why did it feel like this place had just been faced with the great annihilation? Was this the damage from a previous battle? Was everyone dead? How convenient. They knew that Yu Qing was dead. The matron dragon was dead as well. A major battle had erupted in the Myriad Realms. But did everyone die from that battle?
They looked around, but there was no living being in sight. Only some corpses could be seen.
Before long, the buffalo emerged from the gate entirely. Voices were still coming from behind the gate, seemingly asking a question. The buffalo replied through their willpower, "The Myriad Realms...seemed to have been destroyed. Or to be precise, the Upper Realm has been destroyed. I can only see corpses and destruction everywhere."
A voice rang out, "Look around more."
"Sure."
The buffalo started exploring, but they were cautious and remained near the gate. They had yet to notice the tea plant. As an expert counterfeiter, how could Su Yu make the mistake of making his counterfeit too easily available?
Anything precious would not be discovered so easily. In any case, a chaos beast wouldn't be too stupid. He had to find a remote corner and make the tea plant look like she was dying for the whole thing to be convincing enough. It would look too suspicious for the tea plant to appear right in front of the buffalo.
Su Yu was very good at this.
"Where's the chaos will?"
The buffalo muttered to themself. The marker could still be felt, signifying that the chaos will was still around. Where was it? That marker was very important. Perhaps they would be able to figure out if this was a trap after finding the chaos will.
In their search, they could sense some chaos undulations nearby. They were cautious, so instead of going personally, they manifested a tiny buffalo with a drop of blood before sending the manifestation over.
After a while, the small buffalo returned with a ball of light in its mouth. It was found in a nearby crater. Perhaps Yu Qing had dropped it after she died, and nobody noticed.
"I...found the chaos will so easily?"
The buffalo recalled the words of the others before they departed. They had warned him that this might be a trap if the chaos will couldn't be found. In that situation, he should return behind the gate as soon as possible.
But now...
After a short pause, the buffalo transmitted behind the gate, "I found the chaos will! It was found in a large crater in the battlefield."
"You found it?"
Numerous eyes appeared behind the gate. They seemed doubtful and confused. Was this really not a trap? The chaos will was not something one would abandon so easily. That was the marker for them to exit the Hell Gate. And it had been found randomly in the battlefield.
Were the enemies unaware of the chaos will? Or were they all dead? Everyone knew that Yu Qing was dead. As for Zhou Ji, he would keep a low profile after entering the Hell Gate. Thus, the chaos beasts behind the gate were still unaware of the developments outside.
"Is that Su Yu dead as well?"
They knew that the one who had killed Yu Qing and the others was someone called Su Yu. But they didn't know more.
"I don't know." The buffalo said, "Maybe...I should visit the Lower Realm and take a look as well?"
But just voicing that suggestion caused him to shiver with fear. Thus, he abandoned the plan right after it took form. The Upper Realm had basically been destroyed. What if the Lower Realm was fine and Su Yu was still down there? Going there would be suicide.
"Just having the chaos will is good enough. With this thing around, we can continue tracking the location of the Myriad Realms. Ancient Cow, keep looking around and see if you can find any survivors."
"I'll try."
The buffalo continued their search. However, they seemed blind as even now, they had yet to discover the tree plant. Even Su Yu, who was waiting in hiding, was starting to lose patience.
How dumb! Did this fellow not know that with the chaos will, they could summon some chaos beasts over and order them around? Holy shit! Did he need to teach this fellow something so basic?
Anyone with a brain would be trying to summon some chaos beasts with the chaos will to see if there were really any survivors nearby. It was only natural for the buffalo to call some chaos beasts over as they were supposed to be on the same side.
Su Yu was starting to grow tired of this. How were these chaos beasts so stupid? This was so tiring. Was he supposed to teach them the right way to fall for a scam? Otherwise, they would be too stupid to fall for a scam.
Su Yu had taken numerous aspects into consideration when planning his scheme, but he had neglected the stupidity of his potential target.
"When scheming against dumb people, I need to lower the complexity of my scheme appropriately."
There was no helping it since these people seemed incapable of complicated thought.
For example, when scamming a complete idiot, one simply needed to walk up to them and say something like: "Give me some money and I'll give you some candies."
And then, the fool would hand the money over. It was that simple.
Meanwhile, Su Yu had planned his current scheme thoroughly with layer upon layer of psychological tricks involved. Alas, his target was too dumb to even notice anything. Su Yu nearly popped a blood vessel when he saw the buffalo walking past the tea plant without noticing anything. He felt as though he was singing a song to someone who was deaf.
Fortunately, the buffalo wasn't exactly alone. Their brethren were still waiting behind the gate. And some were not as brainless. This scheme of Su Yu was actually quite effective against smart people.
A voice rang out from behind the gate, "Is the chaos will in your possession? Try looking for ancient race survivors through the chaos will. With the chaos will, members of the ancient race will be willing to obey. It will be much easier to gather information through them."
The buffalo's eyes widened with realization as they exclaimed in admiration, "Right! Supreme Spirit Ape is still as smart as ever. I nearly forgot about that!"
A different voice rang out in support of the ape, "Yes, look for the survivors from the ancient race."
Before long, a faint burst of willpower rippled out.
"All members of the ancient chaos race, show yourselves!"
However, there was no response. The buffalo's expression changed slightly. Did everyone die?
The chaos will was quite useful against chaos beasts. Powerhouses like the eight-winged tiger and chaos dragon were harder to control, but those below the level of a Venerable would not be able to resist the call of the chaos will. However, they received no response.
The buffalo continued looking around. Finally, they sensed something vague as they muttered, "There...seems to be a response, but it's so weak. Is that fellow...injured? Or weak?"
"Take a look?" A suggestion came from behind the gate.
The buffalo thought about it and nodded. It was likely that there were no other survivors in the area, anyway. "Sure. I'll check. If I don't return, assume the worst. Be careful and don't come out if I don't return."
"Don't worry."
And then, the buffalo flew away. After a while, he saw a large mountain ahead of him. That was a crumbling mountain with a crater at the foot of the mountain. In the middle of the crater, a badly damaged tea plant could be seen. The tea plant looked extremely weak, as though it was on the verge of dying.
"Hmm?"
When the buffalo focused, they were stunned. "A member of the ancient wood race. It is dying from its heavy injuries."
Did that reply come from this small tea plant?
"A Daofuse..."
This was no powerhouse. In fact, Daofuses were quite common in the Chaos Mountain. However, that was all in the past. Everyone else had died, leaving this tea plant as the sole survivor in the area.
After a quick scan of their surroundings, the buffalo descended. A wave of chaos power rippled out of their body before entering the body of the tea plant. With a slight shiver, the tea plant recovered slightly. Slowly swaying her branches about, she asked, "You...who...are you?"
The buffalo smiled. Finally!
"This one is known as Supreme Ancient Cow!"
The buffalo asked, "Are you a local ancient?"
"I...no...I...came to answer the call of chaos by Lord Chaos Dragon...but...but...all the lords...died..."
The buffalo nodded and asked again, "What happened here?"
"Big battle...strong powerhouses fought..."
The explanation was unclear and confusing, but the buffalo was able to piece everything together based on what they already knew before this.
A major battle. A bunch of powerhouses were involved. The restriction had been removed from the Myriad Realms. That resulted in the emergence of a bunch of Masters of Laws. Someone called Hundred Battle fought someone called Su Yu. And then, an unknown giant joined the battle as well. The tea plant did not know the name of the giant. She only knew that the two males had fought a battle intense enough to collapse reality itself.
Countless people died. Ultimately, even Hundred Battle died. Su Yu, with the few survivors under him, fled back to the Lower Realm, leaving a scene of devastation behind him.
"Su Yu survived?"
The buffalo gasped with shock. Hundred Battle was a name he knew. According to the tea plant, Hundred Battle hadn't been fighting alone. He was also assisted by a powerful female giant. But everyone died while Su Yu survived. However, he seemed to have sustained heavy injuries from the battle.
"How many subordinates did he escape with?"
The tea plant answered, "I don't know. A few."
"A few? How many are Masters of Laws?"
"I don't know."
Speechless.
The buffalo felt like they were speaking to a fool. Then again, this wasn't surprising. It had always been hard for those of the ancient wood race to gain sentience and turn into spirits. Even after turning into spirits, it would take them a long time to develop their wisdom. Clearly, the one before them was not one with a lot of intelligence.
However, just learning about Su Yu's status was a big enough gain. The buffalo grabbed the tea plant and started carrying it toward the Hell Gate. At first, the tea plant was alarmed. But soon, she calmed down again.
***
A short while later, the buffalo reached the Hell Gate and informed those behind of his findings.
A voice came behind the gate, "Can the words of this little fellow be trusted?"
The buffalo did not seem too worried as they said, "It doesn't know much. It's too weak to know more. If it weren't for the chaos will, I wouldn't have discovered this little fellow. It has been greatly weakened. It would have died if I hadn't reached it in time. It couldn't even think straight anymore. How would it be able to lie to us?"
What a stupid question. Why were those fellows behind the gate suspicious of everything? In any case, the tea plant did not know much. Most of what the buffalo told the ones behind the gate was what the buffalo had guessed themself. By doubting the tea plant, they were basically doubting the buffalo. It was only natural that the buffalo would defend themself.
"In short, Hundred Battle is dead and Su Yu is alive. Sure enough. I knew it. Things wouldn't have gone completely silent if Hundred Battle were still around. So he died. That Su Yu fellow is quite a scary one, it seems."
"So what? He's too young. And he seems to have sustained serious injuries as well."
"How many Masters of Laws does he still have?"
"This ancient wood fellow is too stupid. It can't give me a clear answer."
Listening to the conversation between those behind the gate and the buffalo, the tea plant spoke blankly, "I...I don't remember...much. I...can't tell much either...but I have been...here all along...My main body...left a brand of what I saw...would...that be useful?"
The buffalo blinked before laughing, "True! The ancient wood race is capable of leaving memory brands behind. Show me."
"But..." The tea plant said, "I...don't have any chaos power to summon the brand."
What a troublesome fellow. The buffalo sent some chaos power into the tea plant's body. Only then did a scene start playing out before them. It was unclear, but one could see a Su Yu who was coughing blood endlessly in the projection. Behind him, three individuals could be seen.
All four were heavily injured, and their auras seemed rather subdued as they flew into the distance.
In fact, Su Yu was so heavily injured that he was having a hard time staying in the air. Those behind him wanted to help him, but he pushed them aside grumpily. That action, in particular, caught the attention of the chaos beasts.
