“How could the king be so ruthless?” Xiao Qi lamented, a frown in her forehead.
Although she was born in the High Duke’s Public House, she knew very well that the cruelest of them all was the Emperor’s household. The Emperor’s thoughts were cold and would always prioritize benefits before everything else. There was no difference between trash and life in the Emperor’s eyes. However, Fu Mengshan was no ordinary official. He was one of the Emperor’s favorites since he was extremely loyal to him. Nobody would be able to accept it if the Emperor simply killed him off. Who else could still be loyal to him if they found out?
Chu Li said, “It’s like we’re living in the tiger’s den and all Emperors are the same. There’s no difference between them.”
“Sigh…” Xiao Qi sighed.
The Yi Public House were only able to remain loyal to the Emperor because of the lessons learned from their ancestors. It would be impossible to change this habit but the current Emperor was so cruel that it was not worth being loyal to.
Chu Li stated, “I’m afraid the incident of me lurking about within the Holy Church of Light would be revealed as well.”
“Are you going to kill Gu Yu?” That’s too risky!” Xiao Qi exclaimed as she shook her head. “It’s not that easy to kill Gu Yu and the punishment is simply too great.”
She understood Chu Li very well. Hence, she was sure that he would kill Gu Yu.
Xiao Qi had guessed that Gu Yu must have been protected by many top-notch masters that were no weaker than Chu Li. Gu Yu would have been assassinated otherwise. The Imperial House had many top-notch masters from within the Inner Mausoleum that rarely appeared in public. With these top-notch masters protecting Gu Yu, it would bring upon incredible trouble if he failed to assassinate him.
Chu Li replied, “He’ll definitely threaten me with this and he’ll definitely spread the news across the land. I must deal with him before then so that he could not do anything about it!”
Xiao Qi looked at him and sighed helplessly as she did not speak any further.
Chu Li smiled. “If we really do fail, we still can hide in Spirit Cranes Peak.
“Alright.” Xiao Qi smiled.
She would not stop Chu Li from doing so. Although it was dangerous, which incident had he encountered that was not dangerous? Yet, he was able to turn the tables around. Furthermore, he still had God’s Limb and Spirit Cranes Peak if all else had failed.
Chu Li vanished in an instant.
Gu Yu was in the Secret Guardians Hall’s main hall the entire morning as he read through the scrolls. He soon placed down the scrolls as he felt his headache intensifying the more he read. Then he slowly strolled out of the Secrets Guardian Halls, leaving the main street and started strolling on a random street.
He wanted to reward himself for his effort. Hence, Gu Yu entered a small restaurant, sat down and sighed.
He realized that he was not worthy of being a Commander and he was quite frustrated with it.
From everyone else’s perspective, Gu Yu held high authority and it seemed extremely exciting. However, the truth was that he rarely felt the excitement of having such authority. In fact, he felt like he was sitting on needles and everyone in the Secret Guardians Hall was laughing at him.
Anyone would feel extremely great when they had been promoted, but this feeling did not come to pass as Chu Li had killed it. So, he was already in a bad mood due to this but Gu Yu got another slap to the face when everyone found out that Mei Er Court had rebelled against him which caused his influence to drop drastically.
His glorious time was on the verge of coming back when he had found Chu Li’s weakness!
He had never expected it. When Gu Yu went to assassinate Fu Mengshan in the Emperor’s stead, he came across a huge untold secret from the dying Fu Mengshan that Chu Li had been spying on the Holy Church of Light from the inside!
This was a huge merit that had yet to be reported to the Emperor. If Gu Yu were to report it himself, the merit would be his!
However, he immediately brushed off this idea when it crossed his mind.
If it were someone else, Gu Yu would have reported this to the Emperor immediately and thought of his next step afterward. However, Chu Li was different. He believed that this was a good chance to throw Chu Li under the bus and get him to listen to Gu Yu obediently once he told Chu Li about this.
When that occurred, Gu Yu can set Chu Li up however he wanted. Gu Yu felt that the sun was extraordinarily bright that day and the weather was incredibly good; he felt incredibly energized.
The small restaurant he visited looked rather normal but the grilled fish there was amazing and it suited his taste buds really well. He had eaten here multiple times and was always satisfied with it. What was more important was that the lady boss was an incredibly beautiful woman. Gu Yu’s appetite was incredibly huge whenever he dined here while enjoying her beautiful figure.
While Gu Yu was planning something in his head, he had already done his research on this restaurant. The man of this restaurant was able to cook such amazing dishes because his ancestor was the chef for the Imperial House. Although four generations had passed, the secret recipe of the grilled fish was still passed down.
It had been four generations and their networking was on the verge of exhaustion. Hence, they could only open a small restaurant in a place that was not so busy. As the commander of the Secret Guardians Hall, it was a piece of cake for him to buy out this entire family.
However, Gu Yu enjoyed this phase — the phase where he could not obtain what he wanted. That was because he would lose interest once he had gotten hold of them.
There were two Elders in gray robes sitting not far away from him and they did not seem to be related to him at all.
Gu Yu greeted the lady boss with a smile as he watched her deliver food to the customers.
Then, an Elder in green robe slowly entered the place and sat at the table beside Gu Yu. He waved his hand to summon the lady boss, casually ordered two dishes and looked at Gu Yu.
Gu Yu glanced at him and ignored him afterward. He was just another old man who did not know any martial arts. Gu Yu had no reason to talk to him at all.
The two Elders in gray robes stared at this Elder in green robe for a while before turning their heads away slowly to admire the lady boss’s beautiful figure. They seemed to have enjoyed what they were looking at.
“Boom!” There was a loud boom out of the blue. The Elder in green robe had punched Gu Yu at the back.
Gu Yu was sent up into the sky. The Elder in green robe appeared behind him and punched him again to the back of the head.
This punch had squashed what was inside his skull. Even if he was saved by the Spirit Blessing Pill, he would still be an idiot who would never wake up again.
“No!!” The two Elders in grey robes roared as they charged in.
The Elder in green robe punched Gu Yu one more time before rushing out of the place through the window and disappeared in a blink of an eye.
One of the Elders in grey robe went to check up on Gu Yu while the other chased after the culprit.
However, the Elder in green robe had disappeared when he rushed out of the restaurant. He immediately jumped up to the rooftop to see that the main street was filled with so many people that he could not even spot the Elder in green robe.
The Elder in grey robe shouted at the sky as he took out an item from his embrace and shot it towards the heavens.
“Boom!” There was an explosion in the sky and soon it was covered in a cloud of fire that would not disperse.
It was a signal to shut all the gates in that town.
The Secret Guardians Hall’s Commander was an important figure. Since he was assassinated this easily, they would eventually find the culprit if they locked down the entire town.
However, the Elder in green robe had already disappeared from the city and appeared in High Duke’s Public House’s Jade Guardian Island. Chu Li had already reverted back to his true face then.
Xiao Qi was sitting by the garden reading her books. When she saw him returned, she looked at him as if she was thinking of something.
Chu Li smiled gently. “It’s a success!”
“Was it really that easy?”
“He thinks that nobody dared to assassinate him.” Chu Li shook his head. “He had only brought two Protectors out. Although they were top-notch masters, they were not wary of the situation at all.”
“Nobody recognized you, right?”
“What I used was Divine Light Fist.” Chu Li smiled.
Xiao Qi nodded softly as she could not feel relaxed at all. Nobody should look down on others as no one could be sure that nobody could recognize that it was Chu Li.
