“Damn it!” Reynolds exclaimed as his lightning armor cracked from the sheer cold the Seelie-like creatures were emitting as they attacked.
“No wonder that old guy dared not enter this place.” Grey now understood why the gray-haired beastman was so fearful of this place. One has to know that from the beastman’s words, he did not even come this far, yet it terrified him in such a terrible manner.
Three Seelie-like creatures shot out cold energy beams at the duo who blocked with the lightning and fire element respectively.
Grey did not dare to carelessly use the space element to teleport from one place to the other in fear of losing sight of Reynolds.
“Do we really have to wait?” Reynolds asked as he struggled to deal with the Seelie-like creature attacking him.
Grey thought about it shortly before shaking his head, “No, but if we leave now, it’ll be harder for us to assist Klaus and Alice if they need any help.”
Reynolds gritted his teeth as he quickly braced himself for a long struggle. Although it was not certain if Klaus and Alice might need their help, the duo did not want to take any chances.
Grey and Reynolds focused on defending as they tried to take out as many Seelie-like creatures as they could. With the elimination of each Seelie-like creature, the area they were waiting grew colder and colder. In a matter of seconds, the duo could see their skins starting to freeze over. Even Grey who could still use the water element as well as its ice abilities was having a hard time staying warm.
“I can’t hold on much longer.” Reynolds cried out in a shaky voice as his lightning armor shattered to pieces once again from the extreme cold. His teeth were clattering uncontrollably.
Assessing the situation, Grey knew there was no way they could stay there for much longer as that would only put them in danger. They wanted to assist Klaus and Alice, but to do that, they needed to remain alive.
Just as Grey was about to call for their retreat, he sensed something rapidly approaching. Raising his head, he saw Alice and Klaus running towards them.
He did not even get the chance to heave a sigh of relief when he saw a scene that made his scalp tingle. Behind Alice and Klaus, were at least twenty Seelie-like creatures. Himself and Reynolds had almost given up in the face of not even up to ten Seelie-like creatures for the past few minutes, yet Klaus and Alice brought over twenty over! Mind you, this was just the ones he could see, from what he could vaguely sense, there were way more than twenty behind them.
“Run!” Klaus and Alice exclaimed at the same time the second they saw the situation the duo were in.
Reynolds, who was still quivering from the extreme cold, immediately wrapped himself in lightning and shot off in the direction they came in without hesitation. Of all three of them, he was the only one who had no means to deal with the cold. Alice had a Seelie that can at least help negate most of this unexplainable cold, whereas Klaus can be regarded as a genius when it came to ice abilities. Grey might not be on the same level as Klaus and Alice, but he still had the water element nonetheless, so to a certain extent he could still reduce the effect of the cold.
Seeing Reynolds bolt, Grey and the others did not dilly dally. All three rushed after him, in a bid to escape this cursed place, behind them… a sea of Seelie-like creatures were chasing after them.
A few seconds later.
The first figure to fly out of the trench was none other than Reynolds, who lightning armor was flickering, clearly on the verge of going out. Grey was the next, before Alice and Klaus flew out.
They did not even try to get rheir bearings before rushing in a particular direction with Grey in the lead. He was the only one who could track the position of the gray-haired beastman.
Just as they left the trench, the the very edge of it, a swarm of Seelie-like creatures appeared, but they did not dare to step out of the trench.
Grey and the others had no idea the Seelie-like creatures could not leave, and even if they did, none of them wanted to stay there any longer. Just like the gray-haired beastman, they were all traumatized by the Seelie-like creatures and did not want anything to do with it.
A few thousand meters away from the trench, Grey finally stopped and looked ahead.
“Why did you stop?” Reynolds asked as he looked behind to see if they were still being chased. Even though he had not seen any signs of the Seelie-like creatures since they left, he was a little worried they might be on the verge on catching up to them.
“They’re not following us, no need to be so scared.” Klaus teased when he heard Reynolds questioning Grey for stopping.
“I wanted to confirm from them if they managed to get anything good.” Grey turned his attention to Klaus and Alice.
“They better dare not say they didn’t get anything. I almost lost my life in that damned place!” Reynolds said, his eyes locked onto Klaus, seemingly ready to pounce if he did not hear anything positive.
Seeing Reynolds on the verge of attacking, Klaus decided against playing with him before smiling and saying, “Luckily we got something good. Very good actually.”
“Oh, can we see?” Grey asked.
“Unfortunately it’s inside our bodies.” Klaus shook his head, before pointing to Alice, “In her case, her Seelie was the one who absorbed it.”
“As long as we get something good, it doesn’t matter.” Grey replied, he turned forward and said, “That old guy is up ahead, do you need some time to digest what you have, or should we continue?”
“It’ll take a while if we need to absorb it, so let’s head to the next clan. We can cultivate after fulfilling our side of the deal.” Alice suggested.
Klaus did not have any issues with this, therefore the group continued ahead.
