Chapter 2271: Soulmate

The pack leader accepted the name gratefully, and it was now watching its pack member turn into Demonic Calamity Fox. Tang Shaoyang named the new race with it, Demonic Calamity Fox, but it remained unregistered as a calamity.

He turned two hundred and thirty-four calamities into a new species, Demonic Calamity Fox. All of them went through the same change as their pack leader. The difference was their tails. Most of them had four tails, and some had five. None of them had six tails, let alone seven tails. That indicated the pack leader was truly special.

The second difference was their size. It didn’t change the fact that they got bigger than their pack leader. Just like that, Tang Shaoyang had his first Demonic Calamity pack.

He checked on Zara, who got good news for him. She had established the connection between Arnain and Wintermont. It was stable, but the issue was that they could move it around. The distance between Wintermont and Arnain was too far, and the connection was faint. She was concerned that moving the portal might affect the connection.

As for creating more gates, she didn’t want to do it because of the amount of work needed. So yeah, Tang Shaoyang must use this portal gate to move his Demonic Calamity army through this gate.

Zara was currently enlarging the portal that could fit a dragon-sized monster. Not just the portal gate here, but at the other side as well. The faint connection made the work more complicated than she liked. That was why she didn’t want to create a second portal gate.

Tang Shaoyang didn’t mind it. He was happy as long as it worked, and he had a discussion with Sox earlier about moving him and his pack into a new home. It was reluctant since it regarded Wintermont as its home, but had to agree because Wintermont would be recycled into the God Realm. That was the whole point of clearing the abandoned world, after all.

Before Zara could finish the final product, he noticed another movement. Through his Chaos Eyes, he found the same calamity fox was moving toward them, moving in a pack. Not just him, Sox noticed the movement as well.

The first one to move was the Skeleton Army. Skelly1 ordered the Guardian Division to take the vanguard, as the Frostbond Division and Mage Division followed.

This time, the Mage took action first because the Guardian Division was not in position. The mage skeletons turned the ground into mud that trapped the calamity fox. Then the Frostbond division followed by freezing the mud, trapping the calamities before they could completely freeze them up.

The last action was followed by the Guardian Division, still using a U-shape formation. That concluded the battle against the Rank 8 Calamity threat. The Skeleton Army was quick and efficient.

During all of that, Sox had been watching without interrupting. It was observing the skeleton’s movement and how they handled the battle. It was not eager to test out its new strength. Sox looked like he was trying to learn the strategy.

"What do you think? Should I kill the pack leader? Then you will absorb the rest into your pack?" Tang Shaoyang didn’t know how the calamity fox ran its pack. But one thing is for sure, there can’t be two leaders in one pack. It was either he killed the frozen pack leader and let Sox absorb the leaderless pack, or he would have two packs of Demonic Calamity Fox.

If it were up to him, he just wanted one pack. One pick in a big number was better since what he needed was an army, not two groups with different minds. However, he let Sox make the decision, respecting the leader. Letting Sox decide how it wanted to lead the pack.

"I am grateful you are respecting my choice, Master. But can you wait a little longer, Master? I have something to confirm before I make the decision."

Tang Shaoyang nodded, "Go ahead. We still have time before my wife finishes the portal gate to your new home."

Sox didn’t dawdle as it jumped and landed on the back of the frozen pack. It was circling the smaller calamity fox behind, seemingly observing something.

Tang Shaoyang was curious what Sox had in mind. He joined to see what Sox tried to find, but it seemed the Demonic Calamity Fox had already made the decision when he arrived.

"We will merge our pack, Master. But you don’t need to kill the pack leader."

"What do you mean? Do you think this pack leader will agree to merge with you... Unless you want to give your position to this pack leader?"

Sox showed its sharp, white teeth, which he assumed Sox was smiling, grinning, "She will agree, Master. This pack leader is a female, and she will become my soulmate. Pack leaders only accept another pack leader as their partner."

Tang Shaoyang learned something new, but was not sure if it was useful. But it seemed the pack leader only consummated with a pack leader. It might be similar to how a conglomerate only married their children to another conglomerate’s children.

"If that’s what you wish. If there’s an issue, I wish for you to resolve it yourself, not me."

He warned Sox, and the latter responded with a nod.

Tang Shaoyang used Calamitification on the new pack leader. It started to change, and by the end of the transformation. He saw the difference. The base remained dark-colored, but the pattern was different. She had diamond-shaped shade instead of dots, and it was violet instead of gray. Everything else is the same, including the size, which was similar, but he noticed that the female Demonic Calamity Fox was half a meter longer than Sox.

The female Demonic Calamity Fox broke free from the ice. Her character was totally different from Sox’s. The first thing she checked was the frozen pack member, concerned that they might be in danger. She didn’t even notice Sox’s present as she turned toward Tang Shaoyang.

"Are you going to kill them, Master?"

"Don’t worry. You will keep your pack. I will turn them into Demonic Calamity just like you."

Tang Shaoyang could see that Sox seemed to be disappointed because the female Demonic Calamity Fox didn’t notice him, "But why don’t you have a conversation with him first? He said he wanted to merge his pack with yours."

Only then did the female pack leader turn toward the direction that Tang Shaoyang pointed. There was silence for a moment, no reaction from her.

"But before that, I need to name you first. The conversation will be easier if you have a name."

It didn’t take long for Tang Shaoyang to find a good name for her: "From now on, you are Somi!"
