Chapter 2275: Even Calamity Can Develop PTSD

"What do you mean by the Seven Deadly Sins project?"

Tang Shaoyang was confused as to why Vandir brought this up. It was never a project in the first place. He just didn’t know what to name Demonic Ape. He just remembered the Seven Deadly Sins and named Demonic Ape after it. He thought it was cool back then, but not so much now.

Vandir was not even part of his spirits back then, so he didn’t really understand what Vandir meant by a project.

"Do you know something?"

[Oh... You don’t know?] Vandir seemed to be caught in surprise as well.

"Know what?" Tang Shaoyang was curious now. It seemed there was more to it than just the name.

[Ah, you are in for a pleasant surprise. As long as you fulfill the condition, something will happen. Something good will happen.] The Death King responded in a mysterious tone, not willing to divulge further, even when Tang Shaoyang asked him.

[You are on the right track. Just make sure your pet is strong or at a similar level to the others. You will find the surprise.]

That was Vandir’s last words before he disappeared. He was not willing to say anything, even facing multiple threats.

[Oh, I have to remind you that the surprise is not immediate. It takes time, but you will know when it happens.]

"Do you know something?" He asked Avyn and Zara.

Zara shook her head, and Avyn also said nothing.

"Let’s meet Zephyr..." Tang Shaoyang gave up persuading Vandir. He halted his steps, turning toward Sloth, "You help Sox and Somi guard the portal gate. I will leave you in this place if the gate gets destroyed!"

Sloth opened one of his eyes, then went back to sleep.

That was just another bizarre thing. It was as if the transformation was tailored to be a specific characteristic. That made him think about whether he had influence in evolution, more than he thought.

He put the thought at the back of his head. After what Vandir said, he now moved with a purpose. More than just an experiment, he wanted to find his last Seven Deadly Sins, Lust. He was truly curious what made Vandir react that way. It was either something amazing or something horrendous.

The next spot was another Rank 10 Calamity. Their next destination was a swamp, and Zephyr spotted the king of the swamp, which was the Rank 10 Calamity. She tested it and confirmed that it had the prowess of the Rank 10 Calamity.

It was a massive serpent, the size of ten adults, might be more. Its length reached fifty meters, or maybe more. The scales were pitch black like obsidian. The body filled the swamp, moving silently. It would be hard to find it if they didn’t look at it from above.

The weird part was that the area was not covered in snow; the swamp was wet, not frozen. But the water was extremely cold.

He didn’t order his spirit to capture it right away, considering whether this black serpent could fill the last seat in the Seven Deadly Sins or not. He got increasingly curious because of Vandir’s teasing.

Vandir mentioned fulfilling a certain condition, and Vandir said he was doing well. The skeleton advised getting a strong companion, equal to what he already had. This Rank 10 Calamity fulfilled that condition, but he was unsure about the other conditions.

Tang Shaoyang ended up overthinking it. He shook his head, "Let this guy decide it just like how Envy and Sloth made the decision for themselves."

He decided to let the other side make the decision. Envy and Sloth offered the companion bond on their own, without him forcing them. That might be one of the conditions, so it was better for this snake to make the decision, not him.

"Go capture it!"

On his cue, Jet appeared out of nowhere from the dark swamp. He swooped the massive serpent with his talon, bringing the snake up into the air. Of course, the fifty-meter-long serpent was not going to stay still. It struggled, wriggling its body fiercely, trying to break free.

However, Jet’s talon was dug into the snake’s flesh firmly. The struggle just worsened the wound. When they reached fifty meters in the air, Jet released the snake.

The massive snake landed with a boom in the swamp. That was when another shadow swooped in, catching the Rank 10 Calamity once more. Zephyr carried the massive snake to the sky this time. Despite her small stature, she easily carried the calamity that weighed a hundred times more than her own weight.

With her speed, Zephyr managed to carry the snake up to seventy meters in the air before releasing it. The snake landed on a different spot, hissing. It was angry for getting played, but then, another shadow swooped in. The third shadow was much bigger, matching the serpent’s size, because Envy joined in.

Envy returned to her original size and carried the snake up into the air, high, even further up there. They were getting smaller and smaller in the sky, and Evyn released it at the highest point she could reach.

The snake was wriggling, struggling in the air. It was more like panicking and landed weirdly on the ground. Despite how elastic the snake was, Tang Shaoyang could hear the bone-cracking sound. It was so loud that it was impossible to miss.

Tang Shaoyang thought it would take a while for the bird to subdue the snake, but it was much quicker than he thought. After getting pecked by the three different birds, the Rank 10 Calamity gave up. It just gave up, staying still after the last landing.

"I guess the snake is the bird’s prey. It remains the same even when it comes to beast and calamity."

The Rank 10 Calamity suffered injuries, but it was nothing serious. A Rank 10 Calamity would not die from getting dropped from a high place. The wound was regenerating quickly, and it healed within ten to twenty seconds. If it were a heavy wound, it would heal in a few minutes.

It gave up because there was nothing it could do to stop Zephyr, Jet, and Envy. Zephyr was too fast for it. It simply could not do anything to stop Zephyr.

Jet was like an assassin, always coming from an unexpected angle. Then lastly, Envy, who simply overwhelmed it in terms of speed and strength. It landed its skill, poison, and even smacked Envy. But that did nothing to her. Envy simply accepted the hit and skills while carrying it up.

The worst part was that the trio could end the fight, but they were toying with the snake. Even Xiyue and Baccara didn’t join in with how pitiful the snake was. Malki simply observes the situation from the side while shaking his head in disapproval.

At this point, Tang Shaoyang felt bad for the calamity. This was an extreme bullying case. Envy was trying to pick it up again, but Tang Shaoyang stopped her.

"Enough playing around, Envy!"

He heard a clicking tongue sound as the massive bird transformed into a smaller version, landing on her left shoulder.

Tang Shaoyang immediately went to work, activating Demonification. He was tempted to use his unique energy, but he decided to use Chaos Energy instead.

The serpent underwent Demonification. It grew larger, twice bigger than its original size, and doubled its length as well, reaching over a hundred meters long. Then wings started to grow on its back; five pairs of bat-like wings formed on its back.

Then, a white exoskeleton formed around the head, covering its head like armor. Then it kept growing on its body, reaching the tail.

Tang Shaoyang was speechless with what he witnessed. Speechless because he might have an idea where this kind of transformation is coming from. It came from the Rank 10 Calamity’s deepest fear.

The five pairs of wings allowed it to fly, allowing it to be dropped like before. The exoskeleton was like armor to the serpent. That would reduce the damage if it were getting dropped again.

"May I know your order, Master?" The snake spoke, which was followed by a telepathic message, ’Can you put me away from these bir— seniors, Master?’ Her voice was feminine.

The telepathic message sounded like pleading; maybe it was. Tang Shaoyang almost broke into laughter as it seemed his bird gave trauma to this snake.

The transformed Rank 10 Calamity didn’t take the initiative to form the Companion Bond as well. That might be because of the trauma she developed after encountering the nasty three birds. He knew Zephyr and Envy were mischievous, but he didn’t know Jet also had that tendency.

Tang Shaoyang explained to his new creation about the portal, telling her to move to a new home while assuring her that she most likely would not meet her senior again if she moved to Arnain.

She didn’t even ask why she had to move to a new home or what her purpose was. She flew off right away, disappearing into the horizon without questioning Tang Shaoyang.
