Liltana was in a daze as she gazed at the glasswork.
Glassware with red or blue patterns the likes of which couldn’t be found in the Empire was displayed in a class case on one wall.
“Welcom–– wait, Your Imperial Highness!?”
Palma’s surprise at the fact that the guest she thought she’d go help out was Liltana was clear.
“Uh… you… know me?”
“Yes, I’m Palma, from class A. You’re always with Her Highness the Princess and Silk-sama and Cain-sama…”
“Oh really… Anyway, it’s my first time seeing such beautiful glasswork… is this normal here in the Kingdom?”
Liltana asked Palma while gazing at the glasses on display inside the glass case.
“Those products aren’t available for sale to the general public yet… They’re available by reservation only, and they get sold as soon as they’re ready.”
“…Is that so… That’s a pity… I’d like to buy them and take some home if possible though…”
Liltana responded dejectedly to Palma, but received a truly unexpected answer.
“––Although perhaps… if it’s Your Imperial Highness, I might be able to ask him whether you could be given some first––”
Hearing that, Liltana grabbed Palma’s shoulders.
“Really!? Can I really have some!? Those glasses…”
Surprised that her shoulders had been grabbed so powerfully, Palma explained.
“If the buyer is you, Your Imperial Highness… Cain-sama is the one who makes these glasses. So I might be able to get him to make them for you immediately…”
“Okay! Could you please do that then…? I too… will ask him to do so at school. Nigeet, pay her.”
“––Understood… then, we’d like to make a reservation and pay right now.”
Nigeet went to the counter, paid for the products, and received a reservation ticket.
“Hey, Palma, is there anything else unusual here? If so, please tell me about them. Although, we have reversi in the Empire already. That was also something from the Kingdom, right.”
Liltana asked Palma more questions while looking at products other than just the glasswork.
“Yes! Cain-sama was the one who invented reversi as well! Other than that… the restroom, maybe…?”
“The restroom? What’s different with that…?”
There was nothing different in the toilets of the mansion prepared for them by the Kingdom and the toilets in the Empire. Thus, Liltana found Palma’s statement strange, and tilted her head in confusion.
“Umm, well, for that one… you will have to try it out yourself…”
Liltana listened intently as Palma, slightly nervous, tried to explain.
“Then, can I try it out here? Could you show me where?”
“Yes, understood. Then, this way…”
Palma nervously guided Liltana to the toilet. Then, after Palma had explained how to use it, Liltana said she understood and went inside.
“Nigeet! We’re taking one of these back with us immediately!”
Nigeet, surprised at the bright-red-faced Liltana’s vigorous outburst after having exited the restroom, looked at Palma.
“That’s what everyone says when they’ve been and tried it out…”
Palma explained apologetically to Nigeet, and Liltana opened her mouth as if to follow up on what Palma had just said.
“Nigeet, arrange for all toilets in the mansion to be replaced by ones like this. …And make it quick.”
Wondering what was going on, Nigeet answered ‘Yes, Your Highness, understood’.
“Palma-san, I did some good shopping today. I’m really glad I came here. Well then, I look forward to seeing you at school from now on.”
“Thank you for buying our products. See you at school then.”
Liltana smiled as Palma bowed deeply.
Being seen off by Palma, a satisfied-with-her-shopping Liltana got in her carriage and headed back to her mansion.
Back in the mansion, Nigeet asked Liltana, who was relaxing on the sofa, a question.
“Were the restrooms… really that good…?”
Nigeet, who hadn’t experienced the toilet himself, could not comprehend Liltana’s actions at all.
“It’s revolutionary… after having experienced that, having to return to the Empire makes me depressed… When we return to the Empire, please buy them in bulk to take home. They really are amazing.”
Nigeet nodded while wondering about Liltana’s insistence on the fact.
––And a few days later, the mansion had undergone some construction work, and new toilets had been installed.
While there should have been a wait time as per the reservation, Palma had persuaded the Company’s Chairman, Tamanis, that they couldn’t possibly let an Imperial Princess wait.
Tamanis had no choice but to accept, surprised by both Palma’s enthusiasm and the fact that a Princess from the Empire had been a customer.
“Your Highness! It’s amazing! I’m really grateful you had them installed throughout the whole mansion. The maidservants are all ecstatic as well.”
An excited Nigeet with a slightly red face thanked Liltana, bowing deeply.
At that, Liltana nodded proudly with her arms crossed in front of her.
“Indeed. I knew you’d understand.”
“I understand your feelings now, Your Highness. And to also acquire that glassware with that fine craftsmanship, as expected of Your Highness.”
“…Well, that’s…”
While Nigeet was picking up the glasses decorating the table one after the other, fascinated, Liltana recalled an exchange she had had at school.
––A little while back, on a certain weekday.
Liltana didn’t usually talk to Cain. That was because two of his fiancées were always with him, which made her hesitant to speak to him in person.
(If I can’t even do this much by myself…)
Liltana called out to Cain during break.
“Cain-sama, I have a favour to ask of you…”
As she had directly addressed him, which was unusual, Telestia and Silk also looked up wearily.
“What is it, Your Highness Liltana?”
Cain answered with a confused face. Then, Liltana gathered up her courage and continued.
“Well actually, I have a request to ask of you, Cain-sama… Umm… I’d like some of those glasses with the beautiful craftsmanship. They said at the company that I had to make a reservation, but then Palma-san said to directly ask you…”
Cain had been wondering whether something had happened with this request out of nowhere, but finding out it was just about the glasswork, he sighed in relief and smiled at Liltana.
Having suddenly received Cain’s huge smile full-blast, Liltana’s cheeks were dyed red.
“Sure, no big deal. And if it’s just for friendship with the empire, then I don’t mind handing some over for that reason either––”
Cain suddenly felt Telestia and Silk stare at him intently from next to him.
“Well, that’s not–– I’ve already made a reservation too.”
“Understood. Then I’ll stop by Palma’s place on my way home and hand them over.”
“That soon!? Thank you very much!”
Liltana, forgetting herself for a moment, grabbed one of Cain’s hands with both of her own and shook it up and down, her happiness quite visible.
And while Cain found her rejoicing so much somewhat unusual, he let her be.
“––Lil, umm, could you…”
Coming back to herself at Telestia’s words, Liltana noticed she had grabbed Cain’s hand with her own and blushed.
“Ah… I’m sorry…”
Liltana, with an apologetic yet still red face, let go of Cain’s hand.
“Then let’s go to the Sarakhan Company once school’s out for today. I’ll give them to you there.”
While Liltana nodded at Cain’s suggestion, Telestia and Silk both looked like they had just swallowed something bitter.
“*sniff sniff*… why do I have internal affairs class today…”
“Me too… Teles, we’ll just have to endure for today. There’s no way around it…”
Telestia and Silk had electives that day, so Cain had intended on going home before them. Liltana had only chosen nobles’ class, so she didn’t have any lessons in the afternoon.
Not being able to bear having to give up, Telestia and Silk’s shoulders dropped in disappointment.
