Cain and Liltana left school together.
While Cain usually went to school on foot, as Liltana was an Imperial Princess, she went to school by carriage. By the carriage parking space in front of the academy’s entrance, Nigeet was standing next to her carriage.
At seeing her leave the school building alongside Cain, Nigeet’s face showed a little surprise.
“Good work at school, Your Highness. …Well, if it isn’t Count Silford. I’m Nigeet, Her Highness Liltana’s butler. A pleasure to meet you.”
Nigeet bowed to Cain with a straight back, then smiled.
“Cain-sama, he’s my butler, Nigeet. He’s been taking care of me ever since I was little. Anyway, we’re going to the Sarakhan Company. Cain-sama will be giving us some of that glass craftsmanship.”
“I’m Cain von Silford Drintor. Nice to meet you… uhh, how do you know my name…?”
While Cain found it strange, Nigeet answered with a huge grin.
“That, well, y’see, Her Highness’ constantly going on about––”
“N-Nigeet! Stop with the unnecessary details!”
Liltana hurriedly interrupted Nigeet. Nigeet hid his expression of ‘I said too much’ with an artificial smile, and opened the carriage’s door.
“Ah, how rude of me. Please, do get in.”
Liltana urged Cain to get in the carriage with a red face.
The two of them got in the carriage, Nigeet, the coachman, gave a signal, and the carriage started moving.
Liltana gave Cain’s face next to her a sideways glance, gripping the necklace around her neck, then sighed.
(It seems like Cain didn’t notice after all…)
While Liltana was having such thoughts, the carriage proceeded towards the Sarakhan Company.
As the carriage rolled to a stop in front of the building, Palma had already returned back to the store from school and was standing there in her uniform.
Nigeet opened the carriage’s door and Cain and Liltana got off, and while Palma was surprised at the fact that the two were unexpectedly together, she still bowed.
“Cain-sama, Your Highness Liltana, welcome.”
“Palma, you seem to be working hard. Is Tamanis-san here today?”
“He was here earlier, but he had to go to a meeting with all the companies in the royal capital. Which is why I’m holding down the fort… I’m terribly sorry that even though both Your Imperial Highness and Cain-sama came, the shopkeeper isn’t here to greet you.”
Responding to Palma’s polite apology saying it was no big deal, they asked if they could borrow the reception room in the back.
The two of them were guided by Palma to the reception room in the back of the store and sat down opposite each other.
Palma brewed black tea for the two who had sat down.
“I’m terribly sorry they’re not high-grade tea-leaves…”
Palma apologetically said as she poured the tea into cups and placed them in front of the two.
The two of them had a short chat while drinking the tea, then moved onto the main topic.
Without seeming to really care, Cain took out glass after glass from his Item Box and placed them down randomly in front of himself.
“…an Item Box…”
Telestia, Silk, Palma and the rest of the Sarakhan Company’s personnel all knew that Cain had Item Box.
However, Liltana hadn’t known, which made her make a surprised expression and mutter what she had.
“Ah, right… Your Highness didn’t know. I don’t really show it to the public, so please keep it a secret.”
Cain winked at her, then lined up the number of glasses she had ordered neatly.
With four glasses each of three different designs lined up, Liltana was captivated by their beauty.
“I believe you only asked for ten, but I thought I’d round it up to four of each type, so two are presents from me. You did come all the way to the Kingdom too, after all.”
Said Cain with a huge smile which made Liltana’s cheeks dye themselves a little red.
“Thank you very much, Cain-sama… Also, please call me ‘Lil’. Teles and Silk also call me that, after all.”
“––Lil…”
Cain seemed to suddenly be thinking about something, but immediately looked back at Liltana.
“Anyway, Cain-sama, you seem to have a talent for arts and crafts as well. You already govern a town, and dabble in art like this just for the fun of it… there’s no-one in the Empire with this much talent. I’m quite jealous of the Kingdom.”
“That’s not the case at all. I’m just being helped out a lot by people around me.”
After that, the two of them continued chatting, when there was a knock on the door and Nigeet stepped into the reception room.
“Please excuse m–– th-these are wonderful!”
Entering the room, Nigeet was instantly distracted and fascinated by the clear and vividly multicoloured glasses lined up on the table.
As Nigeet gazed at them excitedly, Liltana hit him on the head.
“Nigeet, that’s unbecoming of you.”
As if his attitude before being hit was a lie, Nigeet said ‘Forgive my rudeness,’ and went to stand behind Liltana.
“Cain-sama, I’m terribly sorry for you having to witness that disgraceful attitude.”
Said Liltana, bowing her head, but Cain told her not to worry about it, and their conversation continued.
And while Liltana had requested a little more extra, she was quickly convinced that this time around was a special case, and that they’d have to wait their turn next time.
Tens of coloured glasses were then lined up on the table to be put in storage by Palma.
“This many…”
While Liltana swallowed at the number of glasses in front of her, Palma checked how many there were, then carried them off into the back of the store.
When all that was finished, the glasses sold to Liltana were also stored in a designated box.
“Your Highness, this shall be the delivery to you. Please confirm it.”
“Yes, I have confirmed that they were all stored in there, so it’s all right. Nigeet, could you please carry them to the carriage.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Nigeet carefully picked the box up and carried it out to the carriage.
When it had been stored on the carriage, Liltana stood up.
“Palma-san, thank you. I could get them quickly thanks to you. I look forward to meeting you at school.”
“I look forward to it too.”
Palma smiled nervously in return to Liltana’s own smile.
“Well then, it’s about time for me to be going home. We have valuable items with us after all, and… Cain-sama, we’ll give you a lift.”
“Ah, no… yeah, alright, if you would be so kind. Palma, see you at school.”
“Thank you very much, Cain-sama. I’ll contact you about who’s made reservations soon.”
The four of them left the reception room, and while they got in the carriage, Palma saw them off.
“Then, I’ll be in contact tomorrow…”
Watching the carriage disappear, Palma muttered, then returned to the shop.
“Cain-sama… would you like to stop by my mansion? We have valuable goods with us, and I’ll be worried if Nigeet handles them all alone.”
Liltana whispered to Cain inside the carriage.
“But wouldn’t that b––”
“Ah, we also brought tea leaves from the Empire. I can bring those out, if it’s all right.”
Cain folded under the strong pressure from Liltana, and thus they headed to Liltana’s mansion.
Liltana’s mansion, while in the nobles’ district of the city, was on the opposite side from Cain’s. Thus, it was some thirty minutes away by foot.
The mansion, as befitting one housing a princess from the Empire, and to maintain the pride of the Kingdom, was a way more splendid building than Cain’s mansion. In terms of size, it was around as large as Cain’s father’s mansion. And as expected, unlike Cain’s mansion, it hadn’t been magically remodelled.
The carriage arrived in front of the entrance, and as the two of them disembarked, the servants were all lined up in front of the mansion.
“Welcome, Count Silford.”
The servants all greeted Cain, bowing. Cain hesitantly followed Liltana into the mansion.
TN: I almost forgot to say, I have to go to school next week (they finally did it, everyone!), however a) it’s going to be only every other week from now on (so I don’t have to go in two weeks) and b) I translated enough chapters this week to keep the daily releases alive next week, so to you, nothing will be changing except for the chapters going up later
