"Mana Core... at last," Adam softly muttered under his breath as he clenched his hand.He could feel the raw strength coursing through his feeble body. He could feel his spirit sea rejoicing in harmony. And finally, he could feel his mana and spirit energy resonating with one another.
"So this is resonance," he murmured, his lips curling into a faint smile.
He raised his head and noticed the beam of holy light piercing the gloom of the Dark Valley and bathing him in warmth. Slowly, the pillar of light thinned until it completely disappeared.
It wasn’t a coincidence that such a phenomenon occurred right as Adam attained Magushood.
"Coincidence..."
He knew someone who practiced in coincidences. He realized that this phenomenon was the Will of the World’s way of congratulating him on his advancement.
As darkness once again reigned supreme in the forbidden zone, Adam gradually flew back to the ground.
As soon as his feet touched the earth, he used his Staff of Calamity to support his weak frame. He didn’t know how much time it had taken him to undergo the advancement. And to be honest, he had stopped caring about it a long time ago.
Due to the shortage of food and water, his figure had grown frail. He was severely malnourished. His physique was no longer as it used to be. He was no longer the tall, broad-shouldered, and muscular man he used to be.
However, his frail body still housed a vast reserve of pure and tyrannical mana, and his mind, sharp as ever, remained a wellspring of nearly boundless spirit energy, perfect and profound.
He turned towards the heart of the Dark Valley and could still feel a vast and malicious aura emanating from there. Far into the distance, he could even sense corrupted fauna growing with otherworldly energy.
Adam inhaled deeply, then exhaled. He repeated the process a few times, his expression unreadable under the shadows of his hood.
"I can feel the mana particles in the air," he muttered under his breath. "The concentration of mana is astounding in this region!"
This was a Mana Core Magus, the pinnacle of arcane strength in Tron. They could more vividly sense the mana in the air. They resonated more deeply with this mystical energy that permeated the world.
Adam remained unmoving for a few moments as he sensed the profound changes in his mind and body. The most obvious change was that...
"It’s so quiet."
After years of listening to the ravings of the Laughing God, his mind had suddenly turned calm and peaceful.
The silence was deafening.
After his fractured spirit sea was healed and his soul became whole again, the Eternal Soul Lotus had awoken from its slumber and begun to actively suppress the ravings of the Faceless Mask.
Additionally, it also subdued the sinister voices that permeated the Dark Valley. Now, all he heard were faint murmurs, so soft that he could ignore them.
Once again, he turned towards the heart of this forsaken place, his expression unreadable under his hood.
Just what could the source of these sinister voices be to be able to go toe-to-toe with the whispers of the Laughing God?
He couldn’t help but grow solemn as he thought to himself.
If I assume the Laughing God was an existence greater than an Emperor Magus, what does that tell me about the abomination at the heart of Dark Valley?
The more he thought about it, the more serious he became. Despite advancing to the Mana Core Rank, he still felt tiny in front of these vast existences. That was a given. After all, he had only just become a proper Magus.
Two beings whose strength is equivalent to or greater than the rank of Emeperor Magus...
The Faceless Mask’s existence is understandable, well, relatively. After all, I found this relic in the spirit world.
But what about this abomination?
How could a being so vast and powerful have a presence here in the Outer Universe?
What Adam was certain about, however, was the fact that this abomination could not be more powerful than a Mana Core Magus.
The laws of the universe would never permit an existence so powerful to be present in the Outer Universe.
So that could only mean one thing...
This abomination must be a fragment of an existence whose strength is near that of the Laughing God!
Or it just doesn’t make sense for these sinister voices to clash on even grounds with the ravings of the Faceless Mask.
The more Adam thought about it, the more certain he grew in his heart. The Dark Valley, the abomination at its heart, all of it seemed to be part of a great conspiracy.
And now he had found himself right at the center of it. He couldn’t help but sigh as he pondered his fate.
The Eternal Soul Lotus bends the flow of fate around me. It is the reason why I come across so many fortuitous encounters. But it is also the reason why calamity relentlessly follows me wherever I go.
Adam cleared his mind of these thoughts and slowly moved across the scarred terrain of the Dark Valley, his frail body hunched and unsteady.
He leaned heavily on the Staff of Calamity with each step, using it to keep himself upright as he crossed the warp ground. His tattered robes clung to his thin frame, fluttering weakly in the cold winds that cut through the valley.
Though his body looked as if it could collapse at any moment, he continued forward, step by step, heading towards the heart of the valley. The staff tapped against the stone as he pushed deeper into the darkness ahead.
Gradually, he came to a halt. He stood motionlessly in the middle of the wide pathway, listening intently. His Sphere of Resonance extended far and wide, and just now he had picked up on something—someone—inching towards him.
...Boom.
...Boom.
The thunderous sound of footsteps drew near.
Boom!
Boom!
Before long, a colossal shadow loomed over him.
Adam turned around and raised his head, his face still concealed under the shadow of his hood.
His lips parted, and he said in an even voice:
"So you’re finally here."
The giant creature that had almost caught him in the cave all those years ago had returned at last!
