The Blades of Emanation. It was a spell born from the fusion of two arcane disciplines - the School of Invocation and the School of Illusion.
Invocation provided the force, and Illusion concealed the strike.
What was emanation?
At its core, emanation was nothing more than an explosive burst of compressed wind released outward in all directions. On its own, such a surge would only push enemies back.
But Adam had refined it.
He shaped those violent winds into razor-thin currents, turning them into invisible blades that tore through the air. At the same time, illusion magic masked their presence completely.
There was no flash of light, no visible projectile, no warning.
Nothing.
By the time the victim realized something had happened, the blades had already passed through their body.
To an observer, it often looked as if the enemy simply fell apart for no reason.
Countering such a spell was highly difficult. One needed to pierce through the illusion and perceive the hidden blades before they struck.
Or...
As the Flame Lord had done it, trust pure instincts and defend before the attack even arrived.
The people watching the battle could barely comprehend what they were witnessing.
Not even a minute had passed, yet Adam had already killed six enemies.
Six Mana Core Magi...
One had been torn in half by a simple kick. Another had his head blown apart. And the remaining four... no one even understood what happened to them. One moment, they were perfectly fine, and the next, their bodies were sliced into pieces and falling from the sky.
Across Ravenfell and throughout the Empire, stunned silence followed the broadcast.
Now only one enemy remained.
Six tiny orbs of light emerged from the depths of the oceans and flew upward, shooting straight into the levitating figure of the Dark King.
Adam didn't try to run. Nor did he summon a snake to shoulder the Soulmark instead of him.
As the six orbs of light were buried into his body, he sneered.
What was anyone going to do about it?
Yes, he killed six Mana Core Magi of the Cult of Bones.
So what?
He turned to the Flame Lord, who was looking at him with a pale look on his face, and laughed.
"What's the matter?" he asked with a taunt. "You tired already? Or can you dance a little more?"
"You..." Iroh Silvas gulped subconsciously. "Just who are you?"
Adam raised his chin and proudly declared:
"I am the Dark King of Ravenfell."
Adam's voice carried through the communication artifacts hovering above the
ocean.
A moment later, the same words echoed through the streets and alleys of Ravenfell, projected by the broadcasting devices placed throughout the city. For a brief second, the entire city fell silent.
The people were thunderstruck.
And then...
"Dark King! Dark King!"
"Dark King! Dark King!"
The silence was shattered.
Thunderous cheers erupted across Ravenfell. In the main square, in the Harbor Quarter, in the distant districts where people watched the broadcast, voices rose like a storm.
Just moments ago, fear had gripped the city. Many had believed the Cultists would once again bring destruction to Ravenfell, tearing down the city they had
spent decades rebuilding.
But now the tide had turned.
Now the people watched with blazing anticipation, eager to see the Dark King deliver judgment upon the last surviving cultist.
On one of the viewing platforms, standing amid the nobility of the city, Anna had a look of pure disbelief etched on her face as she gazed at the giant
holographic illusion above the main platform.
She suddenly turned toward Valerian, who was yawning lazily in her arms, and
couldn't help but ask:
"Val, you... aren't you moved by Adam's abilities?"
"Myu?" The young dragon raised his head and innocently looked at the crimson-haired princess. "But Anna, this is nothing compared to what he's truly
capable of."
"...What?"
Valerian nodded, then began gracefully licking his paw.
"You should have seen him in Mabi. In the seven years that we lived there, Brother practically became the king of that island. He fought every Mana Core-level existence there and beat them into submission. And you already know that beasts are generally stronger than their humanoid counterparts."
Anna blinked. "King of Mabi?"
"Myu!" Valerian nodded. "Brother didn't just beat those existences once, he beat them several times. After that, he constantly sparred with them day and night. for years. In the end, the beasts there came to acknowledge him as the king of
the jungle!"
He then casually added, "Brother once said, no Mana Core Magus in this world is his match, except for maybe... three."
In the skies above the Galestine, Iroh Silvas could hear the distant cheers
coming from Ravenfell.
The more he thought about it, the more things started to make sense. A chill crept down his spine, and he couldn't help but speak in astonishment:
"You... you lured us out here!"
Adam's lips curled into a mischievous smile.
"I don't think I know what you're talking about," he said with a light chuckle.
Iroh's eyes trembled in horror.
"Then that means-"
His words got abruptly caught in his throat when Adam suddenly appeared before him and delivered a punch to the gut with devastating force. "Don't spoil the fun," he said as he twisted his fist. "Instead, show me what you
got."
The impact made the Flame Lord's body curl like a shrimp as the air was violently knocked from his lungs. Blood and saliva burst from his mouth as he was launched upward, his body hurled helplessly into the sky. Adam flew skyward after him and, within moments, appeared directly above the rising Flame Lord. Then he spun in the midair and brought his leg down in a
brutal axe kick.
The blow sent Iroh plunging toward the ocean below. As he watched the man
crash toward the waters, Adam couldn't help but click his tongue in mild
frustration.
As expected of an Elder, he mused.
At the last possible moment, Iroh had managed to defend against the full force
of his strike.
With a thunderous splash, the Flame Lord slammed into the Galestine.
And only a moment later...
A titanic pillar of flames rose from the sea!
