Headmaster's Office, Saratoga Castle.Nylian paced back and forth in the circular chamber, hands clasped behind his back and his face marred by anxiety.
He had been in constant communication with Daniel, getting the latest updates on the battle taking place on the shores of Ravenfell.
However, it had been a few minutes since the artifacts had turned silent.
He didn't know how Adam was faring in his battle against the seven Mana Core Magi. Despite the Emperor's presence in the city, Nylian didn't know how things would turn out.
Truth be told, he was vehemently against Adam's plan to draw the Mana Core-level Cultists out and lure them to Ravenfell. After all, he still had some lingering trauma from the Battle of Ravenfell, and hated to put the lives of his people at risk.
But since Lucian had personally assured him that everything would be under control, he had no other choice but to agree with the plan.
"Curses!" he muttered under his breath. "Both of them are reckless!"
Suddenly, he heard the sound of knocking.
But it didn't come from the door. Instead, it came from the window.
Nylian abruptly turned toward the source and was dumbfounded.
"Adam?!" He blurted out.
The raven-haired youth hovered just outside the window, smiling and waving at him innocently.
Nylian rushed toward the windows and opened them. "What're you doing here?!" he blurted out.
"Ah, Headmaster, at least let me in." Adam laughed.
Nylian was speechless for moment, then gave way. After the youth entered his office, he looked outside the window, mildly hoping to see something alarming.
But there was nothing.
The skies were clear outside, and the weather was bright and sunny.
He quickly turned back around and saw Adam slumped on the chair by the fireplace, drinking wine directly from the bottle.
"What the hell happened?!" Nylian was beside himself. "Why are you here?"
"Huh?" Adam blinked. "What do you mean?"
Nylian's mouth was agape. He was about to scold the raven-haired youth when suddenly the communication artifact came to life. He quickly rushed to the artifact and placed it on his ear.
What he heard next sent lightning coursing through his body.
The Lord Marshall said to him... that it was all over. The battle had concluded. Adam had effortlessly taken care of the seven Mana Core Magi sent by the Cult of Bones and even presented Daniel with the corpse of the leader of the group. Nylian remained silent for a long time, unable to form coherent words. Even long after the communication artifact had gone cold, he still remained rooted on the spot.
Until Adam's words echoed in his ears, causing him to snap out of his stupor.
"Headmaster, would you like to try this wine from Springdale?" he said in a jovial voice. "It has a fruity taste to it. My goodness... it tastes like spring. Hmm, that's exactly what it tastes like. Sunshine and flowers."
Nylian gaped at Adam. The latter didn't look like someone who had just butchered seven powerful beings. No, he looked as if he had simply returned from a leisurely walk in the park.
He silently took a seat across from Adam, then stared at the cold hearth, trying
to comprehend what he'd just heard from Ranzenberg.
At last, he turned to Adam and asked in a dazed voice.
"You, uh... do you have something strong?"
Adam displayed a brilliant smile.
"Why, yes, of course!"

Several minutes later, another figure joined them.
Lucian Acadia savored the flavor of sake from Yen-Lu and genuinely praised. "Very good!"
Adam smiled. "I'll gift you a few barrels of sake, Your Grace"
He paused briefly, then said. "Hell, I can even give you the manual on how to make some. You can instruct your winemaker to make it for you back in
Acryon."
"I would like that." Lucian gave a light nod.
Adam suddenly felt a sense of deja vu.
Many decades ago, in this very room, he had discussed with Marcus Blackwood
and Gerald Acadia about how to save the world from doom.
And now, he was doing the same with their successors.
His lips curled into a bright smile, and then... he laughed.
He laughed and laughed and laughed, leaving the other two raising their brows
in confusion and curiosity.
"What's the matter with you, man?" Lucian asked in amusement. "Did the cultists hit your head?"
"It was in this very chamber that Headmaster Blackwood, Old Man Acadia, and I laid the foundations of Operation Constantine," Adam said with a reminiscent
smile on his face.
"Believe it or not, they sat in the same chairs you're sitting in now," he added as he leaned back in his chair. "Fate can be... ironic sometimes, don't you think?" Lucian and Nylian slipped into silence, their lips curling into bitter smiles. Fate could be cruel at times. It had taken the lives of those two great men before they could see the outcome of the plans they had set in motion.
Yet fate could also be strangely ironic.
Though Headmaster Blackwood and the Gerald Acadia were gone, their struggle had not ended with them. The same room now housed their successors, men who had unknowingly stepped into the roles once held by their predecessors.
The legacy they had left behind had not faded with their deaths.
It lived on, carried forward by those who now sat in the very chairs where the architects of that plan once had, continuing the same mission to save the
world.
"The war..." Nylian began in a grim voice. "What are the chances the lands of
Ulier get affected?"
"Close to none," Adam said without hesitation. "We have the natural geographical advantage. The Galestine Ocean will prevent the Cultists from waging war on our lands. It's a logistical nightmare."
Lucian nodded. "And the portal in Hannes has long since been taken care of. So the ordinary people of Ulier, and even Nahua for that matter, will be safe from the ravages of the war."
"So we'll take the fight to the enemy," Adam said, leaning forward.
Nylian couldn't help but frown. "But the Galestine... it should prove to be a
great logistical hindrance even to us if we intend to wage war on the Cult."
Lucian chuckled lightly.
"What?" Nylian was perplexed.
Adam's lips curled into a smirk. "You don't have to worry about that,
Headmaster," he said.
"Old Man and I are already working on it..."
