Chapter 1680 Secret Project

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Clink!

In the depths of the Jomuran prison complex, an eerie sound echoed in the darkness.

Clank!

Under the tide of excited shouts and screams of the prisoners, the ominous sound was suppressed and wasn't heard all that clearly. However, it was there. Clink!

But as one second turned to another, a vast and oppressive aura began to bloom in the depths of the underground complex.

Clank!

The aura radiated death, rot, and pure malice. Sensing this bloodthirsty and diabolical aura, the prisoners slowly quieted down, gradually frozen in place. Clink-clank!

The sound of chains rattling and breaking echoed through the now silent. prison. The prisoners stuck close to the walls, and some even returned to their cells.

This feeling, this oppressiveness, this cruel aura... they had never felt anything like that before in their lives.

And just when they thought they'd suffocate under the sheer weight of dread, the chains at the tenebrous depths of the prison echoed one final time.

Clank!

The entire structure trembled ever so slightly. And before anyone could react or even try to see what was happening, a giant shadow shot from the base of the prison.

It broke through multiple levels at monstrous speed and great ease, even inadvertently butchering several prisoners who just so happened to be in its

way.

Finally, it escaped through the wide breach on the ground above and instinctively listened to the cold command ringing in its mind:

Kill the Dark King!

Everything around this creature appeared to be a blur due to its immense speed. But after it emerged above ground, it instantly locked onto the raven-haired youth in black.

And then, without an ounce of fear, it struck the Dark King with all its might. BOOOM!!!

The youth was viciously hurled into the distance, crashing through several buildings and reducing them to rubble.

Anyone caught in his path... could only be called unfortunate.

Walls collapsed, streets split, and debris scattered in all directions as his body tore through the city like a living projectile. And only after carving a long trail of destruction did he finally come to a stop.

Back near the city center, the effects of gravity magic instantly disappeared, allowing the three cultists to breathe heavily in relief.

Elira mustered her strength and finally stabilized herself a little, only to vomit a mouthful of blood a moment later. Edsel fared no better. He was the eldest of the three and received much internal damage from the powerful spell.

Vortigan's state was relatively better than the two. But then again, he was without his undead knights, while Edsel and Elira still had two each.

He slowly got to his feet, wiping the blood from his lips. Then he cast a gaze full of quiet concern toward his fellow warden, Elira. Only after making sure that she was stable did he finally turn his attention to the creature he had just summoned.

It was ugly and grotesque.

Standing at more than seven feet tall, it had a pair of legs the size of a tree trunk. Its skin was coppery in color, and several blisters and tumors grew across its flesh. It had eight strong arms and four heads stitched together on the shoulders.

This undead abomination was an amalgamation of four men - the most powerful of prisoners to be ever housed in the Jomuran prison complex. And judging by the volatile and destructive aura radiating from this creature, the four had to have been Mana Core Magi before death.

This was Vortigan and Elira's trump card!

A creature so vile and so powerful that it was nigh-impossible to kill it. This was the product of centuries of experimentation and relentless work. It was not born. It was made.

Flesh was reshaped, dark magic was forced into it, and countless failures were discarded until something like this remained.

A weapon that refused to die.

This was the only counter that the two wardens could devise, something that might, even if only barely, stand against the Dark King.

"What... what the hell is this?!" Edsel's eyes were wide from shock as he gazed at the towering abomination.

Just from the aura - no matter how violent and volatile - radiating from it, the elderly cultist could tell that it was far more powerful than he was.

"A secret project that the wardens of each of the four great prisons are developing alongside the Master himself," Elira said, her voice tinged with fear as she gazed at the abomination.

She couldn't help but subconsciously retreat from the four-headed creature. Although it was arguably the strongest undead creature that the Cult had ever created, there was only one problem with it.

"S-Secret project?" Edsel gulped nervously. But a moment later, fury rose from his heart. "Then why the fuck didn't you summon it earlier? We lost so many-"

His words got caught in his throat when suddenly...

The four-headed abomination arrived before him, blinking at him curiously through its pairs of blood-red eyes. It found the human... annoying. And so, it raised four arms and swiped at him.

BAM!

Edsel was hurled into the distance, smashing through rubble and buildings. It was only a few moments later that his momentum came to a gradual stop. His condition was unknown.

Right. There was only one problem with this abomination. The only drawback...

It could not be fully controlled.

The abomination's blood-red eyes blinked again, and it grabbed one of Edsel's undead knights with its sharp claws. The abomination's broad stomach split open, revealing a giant maw with razor-sharp teeth and a black, sinuous

tongue.

Vortigan's eyes widened in panic as it saw the abomination about to devour the

undead knight.

"No!" He roared, exerting his will into the summoning artifact.

The four-headed abomination froze in its movements. It turned its heads

toward Vortigan and blinked in slight confusion.

Vortigan felt his heart sink when his gaze met the abomination's. He was frozen

still.

But the next moment, the abomination gently laid the undead knight down.

Seeing this, Vortigan let out a quiet sigh of relief. He poured mana into the

artifact once again, issuing a clear command to the abomination:

Engage the Dark King!

The abomination finally turned, its focus locking onto the direction Adam had

been hurled.

Meanwhile, Vortigan and Elira silently withdrew, retreating toward Edsel.

This was not a battle they could take part in.
