Chapter 1723 Plum Blossom

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Beautiful violet petals filled the air.

With the twin moons in the backdrop, they looked mesmerizing. It was as if a painter had sprinkled a handful of flowers across the starry canvas.

Though they looked beautiful, the feeling they emitted was sharp and full of dread.

When Valerian's topaz eyes locked onto the enchanting plum blossom petals, he instantly knew that it was a product of illusion.

Seeing such a scene materializing around them, the young dragon grew utterly solemn. He quickly flew toward Balthazar, ready to guard him at a moment's notice.

The man was grievously injured. If someone suddenly sneaked up on him and landed a blow, it was unknown whether he would make it out of it alive. Valerian had to protect him. No matter how much he loathed the man, Balthazar was still an ally.

The four of them stood frozen in the sky, looking around warily.

In the following moment, the violet petals swirled and gathered, forming a brilliant whirlpool of flowers. A second later, they scattered, spreading in all directions.

But now, from the center of the swirling mass, a figure emerged.

It was an elderly man with medium-length white hair tied into a knot. His posture was straight and firm. He wore simply white robes and, at first glance, looked like any other mortal.

But when the others' gaze locked onto him, they knew he was anything but ordinary. They saw a grand figure with a vast and awe-inspiring presence.

The Sect Leader of the Baihua Sect had arrived!

Bai Tianji, also known as the Blossom Blade, held a sheathed sword in hand. His gaze scanned the battlefield. He first glanced at Balthazar, and then at the young dragon, Valerian. His eyes narrowed, for he had never seen a creature so majestic before.

When the two felt his gaze on them, they grew utterly solemn. Ally or enemy? They did not know.

At last, the Blossom Blade turned toward the two cultists. His gaze no longer carried indifference, but something more... hostile.

In the next heartbeat, several things happened rapidly.

Bai Tianji flicked the pommel of his sword with a 'click'. Then, he unsheathed it at frightening speed. The plum blossom petals drifting in the air seemed to have come alive in that instant.

With a simple command, Bai Tainji willed the petals to turn toward the two cultists in a floral avalanche.

And then... the Blossom Blade made his move.

He disappeared

Sword light flashed. Hot blood sprayed in the air.

When he reappeared, he hovered several meters behind the two cultists.

While Holden's vision was covered in violet, Diggory's torso was marked by two deep cuts crossing over each other.

Valerian's eyes glinted, and he quickly dove toward the injured man.

Diggory was in a world of pain. If it weren't for the defensive artifact, he feared that his body would have already been cleaved into pieces.

Just as he stabilized himself in midair and tried to recover, he felt something coil around his waist, nearly shattering his bones. He opened his eyes, just enough to see a gray-scaled tail violently squeezing his body.

And when he raised his head, all he saw was a giant, gaping maw filled with sharp, jagged teeth close in on him.

That was the last thing he saw.

Valerian tore the cultist's body in his jaws, then spat the remains in disgust. He then turned toward Holden and flashed a cruel smile. "I wonder how you taste."

Holden was horrified. When he saw the dragon's blood-stained teeth, he felt a chill crawl down his spine.

But the next moment, intense warning bells rang inside his mind. He felt tremendous heat closing in on him. When he turned to the side, he saw a barrage of giant spheres writihing in black flames hurtling toward him.

Realizing that he was now heavily outnumbered, he instantly decided to flee. Without even bothering to defend against Balthazar's attack, he quickly plunged downward and made a hasty escape.

But not even a few seconds had passed when violet petals covered his vision once again. His heart was gripped by horror, and he quickly tried to weave hand seals for a defensive spell.

But when he raised his hands, they felt light.

"...What?" With a pale look on his face, Holden lowered his head only to see his hands missing. They were severed cleanly from the wrists.

Click!

The Blossom Blade suddenly appeared in front of him, and calmly sheathed his sword.

Holden raised his head again, but his eyes had already dimmed. The world spun, and in the next moment, his head was severed from his neck. He fell from

the sky, a trail of blood following him down.

Within a minute, the two cultists had met their ends.

Valerian flapped his wings and gently caught Balthazar in his claws. The man had already lost consciousness. When he realized the enemies had been dealt with, strength instantly left his body.

The young dragon flapped his wings and then cautiously flew toward the

newcomer.

Bai Tianji hadn't spoken a word since his arrival. He calmly arrived and then dealt with the cultists. And now, he just silently hovered in the sky, clasping his sheathed sword in his hand.

"Who are you?" Valerian asked in a low voice. "Are you my brother's friend?"

The Blossom Blade simply gazed at the young dragon, curiously studying him.

"Are you a mute?" the dragon asked innocently.

The Blossom Blade did not reply.

"Well, I suppose." Valerian turned around and flew toward the other battlefields. "If you're here, then might as well help the rest of them. Come!"

With that, he disappeared behind the clouds.

Bai Tianji remained rooted for a moment, then he silently followed behind the

gray dragon.

Back on the ground, the Venom Dragon was having the time of his life.

He learned that no matter how much damage he dealt to his enemy, the latter

would simply regenerate from the wounds and fight back. His enemy felt no pain, no fear, nothing. It simply fought relentlessly.

Goro's laughter rang through the lands as he closed in on his enemy, his fist swirling with mana.

On the other side, the undead knight gripped its sword and charged toward

him with reckless abandon.

But suddenly...

The pair of orbs behind the knight's helm dimmed, then went out. Its legs gave away and it collapsed to the ground lifelessly, like a marionette with its strings

cut.

Its momentum carried it forward, dragging along the ground until it finally came to a stop at Goro's feet.

The Venom Dragon's smile vanished, and the mana around his fist faded. The corner of his lips twitched incessantly as he tried to digest what he'd just

witnessed.

"What the..."
