Chapter 1784 Cataclysmic Tides

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The undead army was huge.

But so was the serpent army.

Pure and dense mana flowed from Adam's mana core and poured into the spell. More and more serpents continued to rush out of the portal, their eyes gleaming with insatiable hunger.

Gradually, his side of the battlefield became completely overrun by serpents.

Gigantic snakes as large as towers coiled across the scattered land, their massive bodies crushing the earth beneath them. Smaller serpents slithered endlessly between them like a living tide of scales and fangs.

Countless crimson, golden, emerald, and pitch-black eyes flickered through the battlefield. Hissing echoed from every direction. The very sight of the serpent army was enough to make one's scalp turn numb.

Even the undead army instinctively recoiled as the terrifying reptiles stared at them like predators gazing upon prey.

With the undead army on one side and the serpents of Coil on another, the battlefield had transformed into a horrifying nest of horrors.

Such was the clash between a Necromancer and a Summoner!

And yet, despite the sheer size of the serpent army, there was not a single creature that radiated the aura of a Mana Core Magus.

It was intentional.

The only Mana Core-level beings that the Cult Leader had summoned were the two four-headed abominations. Adam knew them well enough to know that no Mana Core-level serpents would be able to stand up against them.

The two monsters possessed terrifying regeneration and overwhelming physical strength.

If he sent Mana Core-level serpents to fight such nearly unkillable creatures, he would be simply sending the snakes to their deaths.

Rather than expending a massive amount of mana to summon two Mana Core-level serpents, he redirected the mana elsewhere…

Into summoning even more Mana Vortex-level serpents.

In the blink of an eye, the serpent army went from matching the undead army in number to surpassing it!

Adam finally stopped pouring mana into the summoning spell. His face was now visibly pale, and his reserves had been depleted by more than half.

Even so, he still had enough to continue fighting.

But for perhaps the first time in a very long while, Adam truly felt the burden of mana conservation.

Before arriving on this battlefield, he had already been fighting nonstop. He had battled more than a dozen shadowkins. After that came his desperate escape from the Shadows, followed by arduous research and experimentation in order to return to the material world.

Every step of that journey had consumed enormous amounts of mana. Not to mention the mental fatigue. And now, after everything he had gone through, the exhaustion was finally beginning to catch up to him.

But he persevered nevertheless.

The Dark King and the Cult Leader stared at one another for a brief moment. Then, almost simultaneously, both gave the command to their armies to advance.

The battlefield erupted into chaos.

With deafening roars, hisses, and shrieks, the undead army and the serpent army surged toward one another like two cataclysmic tides destined to collide.

The ground shook violently beneath the advance of countless monstrosities. Gigantic serpents slithered across the battlefield at terrifying speeds while skeletal soldiers, rotting golems, and grotesque undead abominations charged forward from the opposite side.

And then…

BOOOOM!!

Serpents crashed into undead monsters, crushing bones beneath their massive coils while countless smaller serpents swarmed over skeletal legions like a living ocean.

Undead creatures clawed and tore at the reptiles relentlessly, only to be ripped apart moments later by gigantic jaws capable of swallowing entire groups whole.

The battlefield instantly descended into absolute carnage.

Black blood, rotting flesh, shattered bones, and serpent scales exploded across the land as both armies tore into one another with barbaric ferocity.

Massive undead beasts wrestled with giant snakes, while countless smaller creatures slaughtered each other in endless waves beneath them.

The hissing of serpents and the shrieks of undead fused together into a macabre symphony of war that echoed across the lands.

And at the center of it all, the leaders of the two respective armies finally moved.

The Cult Leader bolted forward in a streak of black, the two abominations charging closely behind him like monstrous shadows of destruction.

At the same time, the Dark King shot forward as well.

His expression had become utterly focused and deadly as tyrannical mana rapidly gathered around the black staff in his hands.

The Cult Leader's eyes blazed fiercely through the gap of his helm as he, too, readied his spear.

All the undead creatures and serpents standing in their path either frantically fled or were crushed to death by the sheer force of their advance.

And then… they collided.

Both Magi swung their weapons at one another with terrifying force.

And in the instant that their weapons clashed, the resulting shockwave from the impact violently blasted away the nearby summoned creatures. Even the ground split apart as a thick wave of energy swept outward.

Much to the lich's surprise, the strength behind Adam's attack far exceeded his expectations. The tyrannical force reverberated violently through his arms. He only managed to hold on for a single second before being forced several meters back.

Right on cue, the two four-headed monsters charged straight toward Adam.

The youth evaded the attack of the first one, then immediately counter-attacked with a powerful horizontal swing of the staff that swept the monster's legs from beneath it.

However, that brief exchange was all the time the second monster needed to strike. Unable to evade, Adam was forced to block with his staff. However, unfortunately for him, his opponent possessed several arms.

He managed to block two blows before being overwhelmed. Hot blood burst from his nose and mouth as he was violently hurled into the distance.

Intense alarm bells instantly rang inside his mind. Midair, Adam abruptly twisted his body around and swung his black staff outward…

Clang!

Just in time to collide against the spear strike of the Cult Leader, who had somehow already circled back around and appeared before him.

With no footing in midair and unable to utilize the Flight spell, Adam was easily overpowered by the lich and hurled in a different direction.

There, a four-headed monster awaited him with all six arms raised, ready to deliver a vicious blow to the incoming human.

Adam's expression turned ferocious as he twisted in midair once again and hurled his staff at the abomination.

With a sickening crunch, the black staff pierced straight through one of the monster's mouths and burst out from the back of its skull.

And at that exact moment, a massive shadow loomed from above.

He could only instinctively raise his arms to protect his head just as the other abomination's attack crashed down upon him with violent force.

His figure was hurled across the battlefield like a ragdoll, crashing through countless undead creatures and serpents alike as they burst apart into bloody mists of flesh and gore.

Only after leaving a long trail of destruction across the battlefield did he finally come to a stop.

The nearby summoned creatures immediately scattered, instinctively creating an empty field around Adam.

With a swift motion, he leapt back to his feet. His gaze instantly locked onto the lich, who had already arrived before him with spear in hand.

One of the abominations stood to the Cult Leader's left, snarling threateningly, while the other was regenerating but had already gotten back to his feet.

That last exchange told Adam all he needed to know about the lich's strength and his synergy with the two abominations.

If he wanted to win this battle, he would have to utilize every trick at his disposal.

He would have to go all out.

The Dark King raised his hands and slicked his hair back.

Tyrannical mana radiated from his body in dense waves as he lowered himself into a combat stance.

"You truly weren't kidding about not holding back," he said with a smile.

But the only response he received was the lich silently commanding the abominations to surround him.

At the same time, the Cult Leader charged forward as well.

The Dark King rapidly weaved the hand seals before thrusting both palms outward.

The lich struck with his stalwart spear while the abominations lashed out with their terrifying claws.

Just as their attacks were about to reach Adam, the space around him shuddered violently.

And then, gravity exploded outward.
