Chapter 2075 Submit or Die

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Adam stared in horror as the Vampire King, who ruled this secret plane for thousands of years, was helplessly eaten by a pale monster.

Jacob de Vile could not put up any resistance whatsoever. One moment, he was demanding answers. The next, his head had already been chewed up and swallowed.

The Mistress of Blood, Sanguina's red eyes did not leave Adam even though she continued to eat Jacob's flesh, bones, organs, and everything else. Like he was a delicacy.

Adam felt as though he was being watched by an apex predator. His lips subconsciously curled upward into a nervous smile as he cautiously took a few steps back. He raised his hands slowly in a show of surrender.

Sanguina's eyes narrowed. She continued to eat away at Jacob's body parts. She slowly knelt on the ground and continued to devour the vampire. Blood smeared her pale face and naked body, but she didn't mind.

Within a few minutes, nothing was left of Jacob de Vile. Not even his clothes.

The Mistress of Blood casually sat on the ground, licking her fingers as though she had just finished a fabulous meal. At last, she spoke to Adam:

"Tell me, boy. How would you like to die?"

Adam's heart thundered inside his chest, seized by terror. But his smile was confident and superb. "My lady, why must I die? We could each simply go our merry way. No need for violence. No need for deaths."

"Go our merry way, is it?" Sanguina said slowly.

"You disrupt the ritual, deprive me of my vessel, leave me in a weaker state, and then suggest there is no need for violence? I wonder if I should kill you outright, or make you my servant for eternity."

Although Adam had a calm appearance on his face, inwardly he was stunned.

Deprive her of her… vessel?

Don't tell me…

Was Genevieve meant to be the vessel for this monster?!

There was another matter of grave importance as well. Sanguina claimed that she was left in a weaker state at the moment. Adam could see that the monster was radiating the aura of a Transcendent entity.

But if she was truly in a weaker state, did that mean her true strength was greater than the Transcendent Rank? Perhaps the Saint Rank, even.

However, none of that mattered. What truly mattered was the monster's current strength, which was at the Transcendent Rank.

Difficult to deal with, but not impossible. Adam was used to fighting stronger enemies. More importantly, he was not alone.

"I'll be your servant if you help me deal with this annoying fella," Adam smiled as he loosened the handwrap around his right hand and gave Sanguina a glimpse of the Brand.

"So that's what it was," the pale monster murmured.

She wasn't even interested in the Brand of Evil. She had seen many pitiful creatures be marked by her people. What caught her eye was the artifact concealing the Brand.

"Looks to be forged by dwarves," she murmured.

"I did not know that," Adam said. He truly didn't.

"May I ask you something?" he asked after a moment.

"Stalling for time, is it?" Sanguina scoffed. "Very well. Go ahead."

From the beginning, she didn't move an inch from her seated position. Such was her confidence in dealing with what she thought was a nuisance.

"You were grievously injured during some battle in the past. You've been recuperating inside the moon ever since, devouring the souls of all those who died inside this secret plane. Am I correct in my assumption?"

"Correct…" Sanguina's eyes seemed distant.

She clutched the ruby amulet — the one that contained Charlotte's soul — and crushed it. She had expected to devour the soul, but somehow she wasn't able to.

"How strange," she murmured, glancing at the crushed amulet with a frown.

Of course, it was strange. The moment the amulet was crushed to pieces, the soul residing inside was absorbed into the Lotus' mysterious space. Naturally, Sanguina wasn't able to sense this. Only Adam could.

He quickly changed the subject. "Was the owner of this secret plane the one who defeated you?"

"Defeated? Defeated?" Sanguina's anger flared. "I was tricked! That lying scum deserved all he got and more."

With a simple hand seal, blood congealed around her naked body and formed a thin layer of armor. She rose to her feet and looked down on Adam.

"Enough talk," she said. "I'll give you a choice, boy."

Adam retreated another step.

"Submit to me," Sanguina continued, "and I will deal with the devil who branded you."

"Or?" Adam's lips curled upward into a smile. But he was no longer as nervous.

"Or perish," Sanguina whispered into his ear.

In the blink of an eye, she had already appeared before Adam. He didn't even have time to react. Her hand seized his face.

She drove him through the broken wall with such force that the entire castle shook. Stone exploded around them as Adam's body was dragged through wall after wall, smashing through thick masonry as though it was made of paper.

Sanguina didn't stop. She continued driving him through the rubble, grinding his body through the shattered stone and carving a deep trench across the ground.

Then, without giving him even a moment to recover, she leapt into the air. Her arm moved, and Adam's body was hurled away.

His body tore through the air like a cannonball, disappeared into the distance before…

BOOM!!

He crashed into the ground. The impact was so violent that the earth collapsed beneath him. A massive crater formed where he landed, with cracks spreading outward in every direction.

In a matter of seconds, the Mistress of Blood had overwhelmed Adam and thrown him aside before he could even mount a defense.

"I will ask you one final time, boy." She raised her chin haughtily. "Submit or die."

Adam raised his head from underneath the rubble. Blood poured from the top of his forehead, running down his head and neck. But very quickly, the blood began to roll backward, flowing back into his body through the gaping wound in his head.

Sanguina frowned. There was something strange about Adam's blood. She couldn't tell what. Stranger still was the way it returned to his injury, as though the blood refused to stay outside of his body.

"Fine, I'll answer you," Adam murmured.

Sanguina looked Adam in the eye. In those tenebrous eyes, she saw a flicker of white light. It was instantaneous. She frowned as her reactions slowed just by a fraction of a second.

But that was all that was needed.

Her eyes widened, and she quickly raised her hand to block a sneak attack.

Too late.

Luca had already arrived behind her and swung the Winter Blade with all his might!
