The first room we entered after choosing the magic route was well, there was nothing there. I mean, it was labeled Rest Area, with benches and the like.It really did seem to be a room for taking a break, and when I looked at the wall, there was something that looked like a map, or rather, a route chart.
[This looks like a route chart. It doesnt go into detail, but were here right now and if this is the goal, then there are about five rooms left.]
[It seems theres only one route split ahead.]
The route chart in the rest area didnt provide any details, but it did show the overall layout, such as the number of rooms and which rooms contained route branches.
It looked like the paths branched quite a bit. Even two rooms ahead, the route appeared to split into two different directions.
[You know, I was just thinking Weve come down the route meant for people who can use magic, but just how much ability are they expecting? That last problem was as basic as it gets, but in reality, people have different levels of proficiency, right? I was wondering if there might be problems that stop you from progressing if youre not skilled enough]
[Thats true. Itd be scary if you chose a high-difficulty route and ended up completely stuck.]
[Well, considering this is just an attraction at an amusement facility, I think theyve probably kept the difficulty reasonable. I doubt itd involve advanced magical theory Ah, I see now. The important thing is probably whether you can coat yourself in magic power. That last problem wasnt really about magic itself, it was about whether you could consciously wrap your body in magic power Which means there are probably mechanisms ahead that only activate when you touch them while cloaked in magic power.]
It was true that simply being able to use magic covered a huge range of skill levels, and everyone had different amounts of magic power, so there was no way the challenges would require participants to cast spell after spell.
With that in mind, Fate-sans reasoning seemed to hit the mark. The previous magic circle puzzle had required coating your hand in magic power to correct it. If you could clear that, then you were capable of wrapping your body in magic power, and simply doing that wasnt something greatly affected by differences in proficiency.
[Fate-san, when it comes down to it, youre actually really smart and pretty sharp, arent you?]
[I told you, didnt I? I can do it if I try I just dont.]
That was an undeniable fact. When all was said and done, Fate-san was incredibly quick-witted, with an excellent grasp of situations and remarkable adaptability. She had a knack for instantly seeing through to the heart of things, but just as she always said, she simply lacked the motivation. Shed understand what was going on but stay silent, or shed be able to figure it out if she bothered thinking about it, but couldnt be bothered to devote the effort.
Another good thing about her was that, while she was undeniably lazy, once she decided to do something, she rarely complained after getting started.
This attraction was the same. Alice had asked her to participate, and shed only agreed on the condition that shed be going around with me, but once shed decided to take part, she actually participated properly. Of course, when choosing routes and the like, shed still aim for whichever path looked the easiest and quickest to finish, but
That aside, this facility is very well thought out. The focus on puzzles is likely because the intent is to emphasize flexible thinking and flashes of inspiration rather than physical ability or knowledge. That way, even people with vastly different levels of strength can still enjoy themselves after being separated into different groups
[Thats just like Shall-tan, isnt it? They said the goal was the throne, right? Assuming the other girls who were randomly split off are following similar branching routes does that mean the final room on this chart is the throne room?]
[Thats the most straightforward assumption, but there may be some sort of trick involved.]
Hearing Lillywood-san, Fate-san, and Cornelia-sans comments, something about it began to bother me. It was related to what Fate-san had mentioned earlier about what would happen if someone got stuck As far as I remembered, there hadnt been any rule saying you werent allowed to go back to a previous room.
If that was the case, then if you got stuck, couldnt you simply return to the previous room and take a different route? Wouldnt that mean you could eventually clear every room? No, but surely allowing players to clear every room would take far too much time. There was probably some kind of restriction or penalty in place.
And if Alice had been involved in designing it, then just as Cornelia-san said, there was probably some sort of unusual gimmick waiting
[]
[Unn? Kai-chan, whats wrong?]
[No, um what do you think this upward-pointing arrow beneath the route chart means?]
[Isnt it just indicating that this is the route chart?]
[Thats what I thought at first too, but the arrow feels awfully small for that]
What caught my attention was the tiny upward-pointing arrow beneath the route chart. Something about it felt off or rather, it kept nagging at me.
With that in mind, I casually reached out to touch the route chart, but it seemed to be an image created through Illusion Magic, and my hand passed right through it.
I thought there might be some kind of mechanism built into the chart, but apparently not
There are probably mechanisms ahead that only activate when you touch them while cloaked in magic power.
Suddenly, I remembered what Fate-san had said a little while ago. I wrapped my hand in magic power and reached out again This time, I felt as though Id touched something.
It was probably an incredibly advanced magic formula one that only became tangible while the user was cloaked in magic power. But simply touching it didnt do anything An upward-pointing arrow As if operating a tablet, I slid my hand upward.
Thereupon, the route chart slid upward, and words appeared.
Extinguish every light
Could this be a hidden route?
Serious-senpai : [Alice does seem like the type whod love putting in hidden routes like this, so it wouldnt be surprising if she snuck one in.]
