A room surrounded by mirrors, with no apparent exit and an atmosphere that clearly suggested there was going to be a boss battle. As I wondered what we should do, the pedestal where the Holy Lantern had been placed in the first room appeared in the center of the room.

When I approached it, glowing letters appeared in the air.

A mirror monster approaches. If you place the Holy Lantern on this pedestal once and then take it back, you will be able to concentrate the holy light into a single point and fire it. The first lantern had specified its cooldown in seconds, whereas this one described it abstractly as until the light is filled again, along with the warning not to miss If we missed, I was guessing that wed definitely get hit by the mirror monster once.

The blessing of light is abundant. At present, even the mirror monsters attacks can be nullified up to three times. However, you will not be able to withstand a fourth attack.

Our margin for error was also three times No, saying that were safe up to three times meant wed be out if we got attacked four times.

[This really does seem like an actual battle.]

[R- Right. So, I guess placing the lantern on the pedestal and picking it up again is what starts it, right?]

Hina-chan nodded with a slightly tense expression while nervously looking around the room. The laughter that had been audible ever since we entered the room had disappeared, leaving us enveloped in an eerie silence that felt like the calm before a storm, so she was probably feeling scared.

That aside There sure are a lot of mirrors. There must be nearly 50 of them, right? Covering all of them is going to be pretty difficult.

Hina-chan was scared, so I wanted us to somehow get through this smoothly. Just as I was thinking that, I felt Hina-chan release the arm she had been clinging to. When I turned toward her, I saw Hina-chan trembling slightly, but both of her hands were clenched tightly into fists.

[Hina-chan?]

[K- Kaito-senpai! Ill watch the right half! Kaito-senpai, please watch the mirrors on the left half.]

[That would be a big help, but are you sure youll be okay?]

[Yes! Im scared, I really am but Ive been relying on Kaito-senpai this whole time, so Ill help too! Ah, but please keep holding my hand Im scared.]

Seeing Hina-chan muster up her courage and offer to help, I smiled lightly. Hina-chan was frightened enough that even she was aware of how scared she was, but even so, she declared that since this was the last part of the attraction, she would do her best to be useful.

This really was a huge help. There was a world of difference between keeping watch over nearly 50 mirrors by myself and splitting them between the two of us.

I placed the lantern on the pedestal once, then lightly patted Hina-chans head with my now-free hand. Then, with one hand still holding Hina-chans, we looked at each other and nodded.

[Alright, Ill pick up the lantern.]

[J- Just bring it on!]

She was definitely scared, but judging from Hina-chans words, she somehow seemed like she would be alright. As I picked up the lantern again just as expected, a red laser pointer appeared on the mirror directly in front of us.

It seemed like the targeting beam was extending straight ahead. The red light was quite distinct, so aiming didnt look like it would be difficult.

Ahahahahahaha!

And, as expected, picking up the enhanced lantern seemed to have started the battle with the mirror monster, as an especially loud burst of laughter echoed throughout the room.

Then, the very next moment, our reflections appeared in the countless mirrors, each wearing an eerie smile.

The figures clearly werent reflections of how we looked right now. The versions of us in the mirrors werent holding hands, and every single mirror showed us facing straight ahead.

However, since we appeared identically in every mirror, we still couldnt tell which one contained the mirror monster.

[Hina-chan! I think from this point, one of our reflections is probably going to change somehow.]

[I- I understand. So we just have to find it, right?]

The battle had probably already started. The versions of us in the mirrors were merely grinning eerily, but there should be some kind of change in the mirror where the mirror monster was hiding.

[Ah, Kaito-senpai! That senpai in that mirror looks kind of bigger than the others!!!]

[There!]

I looked at the mirror Hina-chan was pointing toward, and sure enough, the versions of Hina-chan and me were slightly larger compared to the mirrors on either side No, they were probably gradually getting closer toward us, which was why they looked larger than the others.
