As for the results of Flame River Racing, according to Alice, I came in first by taking the theoretically shortest course, followed by Caraway, Sieg-san, Theta, Aoi-chan, Anima, Hina-chan, Luna-san, and Eta, with Lilia-san unfortunately coming in last.

From what I could tell by watching on the monitors, there was almost no difference in skill or control ability, and it seemed that the people who happened to get good routes or collect more wind orbs ended up higher in the rankings. It felt like the rankings could change completely if we did it again.

However, Lilia-san was truly unlucky, or rather the randomly generated volcanic rocks were falling on her at about two to three times the rate they were for everyone else, which really left an impression.

There was even one scene where Lilia-san sensed a volcanic rock and dodged it, only for another volcanic rock to immediately fall where she dodged to, forcing her to dodge again. Then, in a three-stage attack with no opening whatsoever, another volcanic rock came down, which she barely dodged only for three volcanic rocks to fall side by side and hit her directly. I was left dumbfounded by the sight.

Was that really random? The volcanic rocks seemed to have an absurdly strong killing intent toward Lilia-san in particular. They would sometimes come down several at once, sometimes fall in ways that blocked off her escape route, and finally there was even a situation where three came down side by side, making them impossible to dodge. It was just too tragic.

[It was fun, though Lilia-san seemed to have quite a hard time.]

[It was rather difficult. There were many situations where I was able to react myself, but the ships movement speed wasnt enough to get out of the way in time However, what surprised me the most wasnt the volcanic rocks, but the pitfall.]

As we left the attraction and walked along the path, I made some light conversation with Lilia-san.

Lilia-san had been looking rather carefree, saying that there was no problem as long as she didnt have to suffer any more stomachaches, but the moment she heard the loud voice coming from nearby, she turned a resentful gaze toward me.

Megiddo-san spoke cheerfully without seeming to care that her loud voice was attracting attention from everyone around us. In her current appearance, she probably wouldnt fit the atmosphere of an ordinary amusement park very well, but considering this Flame Area was modeled after Megiddo-san, I felt like she fit in ridiculously well here.

[Yeah. I wouldve been fine with splitting up, but apparently there are attractions meant for multiple people, so weve ended up sticking together anyway.]

Hearing Ozma-san say that with an indescribable expression on his face, I found myself completely agreeing with him. Megiddo-san is an utterly merciless person, but shes not the sort who would immediately kill someone she happened to see in town for no particular reason.

Her stance is more along the lines of leaving someone she doesnt like alone as long as they dont involve themselves with her, and only killing them if they happen to catch her attention.

So there wouldnt be a problem in an ordinary town, but as Ozma-san said, if they were randomly assigned and ended up having to spend time together regardless of whether they wanted to or not if Megiddo-san didnt like that person, she really would kill them without mercy. If something like that happened during the pre-opening, it would be a serious problem, so I think having people accompany her as a precaution was a good countermeasure.

Well, even if Megiddo-san says shell mercilessly kill people she doesnt like there arent actually that many people she dislikes to that extent. Unless they had some seriously problematic personality or something, she wouldnt go out of her way to kill someone just because they irritated her a little.

Still, even if the possibility was low, they couldnt afford to let their guard down and perhaps Alice or Kuro had subtly suggested that Ozma-san and the others accompany her for that very reason.

Am I being dragged into this somehow!? And, well, as usual, Bacchus-san was the one left to handle all the details of this sort of thing.
