“This won’t work; we’ll be worn out by it.” Mo Han shouted, feeling his stamina rapidly depleting.

“I know.” Qing Shuang replied, aware of the dire situation, though she had no better plan.

Luo Chen saw that Mo Han and Qing Shuang were struggling and realized he could no longer wait. He took a deep breath, drew a dagger from his back, and stealthily approached the black-scaled monster.

When the black-scaled monster attacked Mo Han with its claws again, Luo Chen seized the opportunity and charged forward, viciously stabbing the monster’s nape with his dagger.

“Aow!” The black-scaled monster let out a scream, surprised by the sneak attack, its body shuddering violently.

Luo Chen’s dagger pierced the monster’s nape but didn’t inflict a fatal injury, merely causing it pain. The black-scaled monster turned in fury, its blood-red eyes locked onto Luo Chen as if to tear him to pieces.

“Damn, it didn’t die?” Luo Chen cursed inwardly, knowing he had truly angered the monster this time.

The black-scaled monster roared, its massive claws swiping toward Luo Chen. He quickly evaded, but the wind from the swipe knocked him into a large tree.

“Whoom!” Luo Chen spat out a mouthful of blood, feeling as if his internal organs had shifted.

“Luo Chen!” Qing Shuang cried out in alarm, rushing to his side to help him up.

“I’m fine.” Luo Chen said, gritting his teeth against the pain. He knew now wasn’t the time to rest; they had to deal with the monster quickly.

Seeing Luo Chen injured, Mo Han was filled with rage. He swung his longsword and attacked the black-scaled monster with growing ferocity.

“Aow!” The black-scaled monster roared angrily, sensing a threat, and launched a full-fledged counterattack.

The battle escalated once more, with the black-scaled monster growing stronger, and Mo Han and Qing Shuang gradually being overwhelmed.

“We can’t go on like this; we’ll all die here.” Luo Chen said, realizing they needed a way to escape.

“So what do we do?” Qing Shuang asked desperately, aware of the grave danger but having no better resolution.

“I’ll hold it off; you two go!” Luo Chen insisted, understanding he had to make a sacrifice.

“No, we can’t leave you behind.” Mo Han protested, knowing Luo Chen’s strength but also the high likelihood of his demise if he stayed.

“Enough talk, go now!” Luo Chen roared, knowing this was no time for reluctance.

Mo Han and Qing Shuang exchanged a glance, understanding Luo Chen’s character and his resolute decision.

“Alright, be careful.” Mo Han said, grabbing Qing Shuang and running deeper into the forest.

Watching Mo Han and Qing Shuang leave, Luo Chen felt a sense of relief, knowing he had to give it his all to buy them more time.

Seeing them flee, the black-scaled monster roared in anger, turning and charging at Luo Chen.

“Come on, beast, it’s either you or me today!” Luo Chen shouted, gripping the dagger tightly, ready for the final showdown.

The black-scaled monster roared, charging at Luo Chen, its massive claws filled with crushing power, as if to tear him apart. Luo Chen took a deep breath, aware he had to give it his all for a slim chance of survival.

He deftly dodged the monster’s attacks, looking for an opportunity to counter. He knew he couldn’t take it head-on, relying on guerrilla tactics to weaken the monster’s stamina.

The battle raged on, and Luo Chen’s body was riddled with wounds, but he hadn’t given up. For Mo Han, Qing Shuang, and himself, he persisted.

Suddenly, Luo Chen noticed a small wound on the monster’s nape, where he had stabbed before. His heart stirred, seeing an opportunity.

Taking a deep breath, he charged at the black-scaled monster once more, focusing all his power into the dagger aimed at the monster’s nape.

“Whoom!” The dagger plunged into the monster’s nape again, sinking deeper with all Luo Chen’s might.

“Aow!” The black-scaled monster let out a piercing scream, shuddering violently before collapsing heavily to the ground.

Luo Chen looked at the fallen monster, his body giving out as he too slumped to the ground. He felt utterly exhausted, unable to even move a finger.

Gazing at the sky, filled with fatigue, he knew he had survived but needed to recover quickly to continue onward.

Struggling, he climbed up, leaning against a tree to start channeling his spiritual power, mending his injuries.

As time passed, Luo Chen’s wounds gradually healed, regaining some vitality.

He stood up, surveying his surroundings, realizing he was still deep in Sunset Forest, with towering trees blocking the sunlight.

“I should get out of here quickly.” Luo Chen mumbled to himself, knowing he couldn’t linger, needing to find Mo Han and Qing Shuang soon.

Orienting himself, he followed the path Mo Han and Qing Shuang took. Walking cautiously, he watched his surroundings for danger.

An hour passed before Luo Chen heard some noises, prompting him to quicken his pace toward the sound.

Breaking through a dense grove, he finally saw Mo Han and Qing Shuang resting by a large tree.

“Luo Chen, are you alright?” Qing Shuang stood up quickly, her voice filled with concern upon seeing him.

“I’m fine, and you?” Luo Chen replied, noticing their battle scars, indicating their own ordeal.

“We’re alright, just lightly injured.” Mo Han said, relieved to see Luo Chen unharmed.

“We must leave here quickly; it’s too dangerous.” Luo Chen stated, knowing something hidden deep within the forest meant they had to leave soon.

“Yes, I agree.” Qing Shuang replied, feeling the forest’s oddity and not wanting to linger.

“Let’s go then.” Mo Han said, aware there was no time for hesitation.

Having decided, the three left the forest depths, cautious of their surroundings as they made their way out.

After about two hours, they emerged from the forest onto a small path.

“Phew, we finally made it out.” Luo Chen breathed a sigh of relief, his tense nerves relaxing as he leaned against a tree stump.

“Yes, it’s much safer here than in the forest.” Qing Shuang said, her voice calm but weary, after confirming the area was safe.

Mo Han nodded, asking Luo Chen with concern, “Are you alright with your injuries?”

Luo Chen moved his arms, sensing his recovering spiritual power, and said, “I’m fine, thanks to the herbs we found earlier. But are you both alright?”

“We’re just lightly injured, nothing serious.” Qing Shuang replied, she and Mo Han shook their heads reassuringly.

“That’s good.” Luo Chen nodded, relieved to have escaped, thankful for Mo Han and Qing Shuang’s help.

“What do we do next?” Mo Han asked, looking somewhat lost into the distance.

Luo Chen pondered momentarily before saying, “Let’s go back to the Alliance and ask the elders if they know anything about Sunset Forest…”
