“Strange, I clearly saw someone flash by just now, why is there no one now?” A rough voice said.“Are you seeing things? How could there be anyone here?” Another voice responded.
“Impossible, I’m absolutely sure I didn’t see wrong.” The rough voice insisted, “Let’s go in and check.”
“Alright, let’s go in and see.” The other voice agreed.
Mo Han held his breath, he knew he had to find a way to escape, otherwise if discovered, the consequences would be unimaginable. He quietly peeked out from behind the clutter, spotting two guards at the door, ready to enter the storeroom.
“What to do?” Mo Han was extremely anxious, he knew he couldn’t wait any longer, he had to take the initiative. He took a deep breath, suddenly charging out from behind the clutter, lunging at the two guards by the door.
“Who is it?” The two guards were taken aback, they hadn’t expected there really was someone in the storeroom.
Mo Han didn’t speak, he swung his fists, attacking the two guards. The guards were caught off guard, utterly surprised by Mo Han’s sudden attack.
“Ah!” One guard screamed in pain, hit to the ground by Mo Han’s punch.
The other guard, seeing this, quickly drew his waist knife, slashing at Mo Han. Mo Han sidestepped to dodge, kicking the guard’s wrist, sending the knife flying.
“Help, there’s an assassin!” The guard shouted loudly.
Mo Han knew he couldn’t keep entangled, he quickly picked up the waist badge on the ground and dashed out of the storeroom.
“Don’t run!” The two guards got up from the ground and chased after Mo Han.
Mo Han ran wildly all the way, he knew he had to meet up with Luo Chen and Qing Shuang quickly, otherwise, if surrounded by the Imperial Palace guards, things would get troublesome.
“Mo Han, this way!” Luo Chen’s voice suddenly came from ahead.
Mo Han felt a surge of joy, he quickly ran towards the direction of the voice. Luo Chen and Qing Shuang were standing behind a big tree, waving at him.
“Let’s go!” Mo Han rushed to their side, speaking urgently.
The trio didn’t stop for a moment, swiftly running towards the outskirts of the Imperial Palace. Using the cover of night, they cleverly avoided the patrol guards and finally left the Imperial Palace safely.
Back at the inn, the three finally breathed a sigh of relief. They took out the stolen guard uniforms and waist badges, carefully inspecting them.
“These uniforms are a bit damaged, but with some repairs, they should still be wearable.” Luo Chen said, picking up a uniform for a closer look.
“The waist badge is fine too, can be used normally.” Qing Shuang said, handing the waist badge to Mo Han.

The three switched into guard uniforms, put on waist badges, and once more came to the Imperial Palace entrance. They took a deep breath, pretending as if nothing was amiss, and walked towards the palace.
“Stop, which team are you from?” A guard halted them, asking.
“We’re from the patrol team.” Mo Han calmly replied, handing over the waist badge to the guard.
The guard took the waist badge, checked it carefully, then nodded, saying, “Go ahead.”
The trio smoothly passed the exterior check and entered the Imperial Palace. Following the plan they had made earlier, they headed towards the hidden rockery they had discovered before.
“Strange, why is the atmosphere in the Imperial Palace so tense today?” Luo Chen whispered, noticing the patrol guards inside the palace had increased several fold compared to usual, each looking hurried as if searching for something.

The trio moved towards the commotion, seeing a group of guards surrounding a person in black, a standoff unfolding between the two parties.

“Hmph, you lapdogs will be punished sooner or later!” The person in black sneered, his voice hoarse, sounding a bit grating.
“Courting death!” The guard captain roared furiously, drawing the knife from his waist and slashing at the person in black.
