The black-clad man’s movements were agile as he deftly evaded the guard captain’s attack, and then struck the captain’s chest with a palm.“Pfft!” The guard captain spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and was blown backward.
“Captain!” The other guards saw this and rushed to enclose the black-clad man in a tight circle.
“You lot think you can stop me?” the black-clad man sneered as he swung his palms, engaging the guards in battle.
The black-clad man’s martial arts skills were extremely high; the guards were no match for him and were quickly knocked to the ground.
“Haha, a bunch of worthless fools!” The black-clad man laughed as he turned to leave.
“Where do you think you’re going?” At that moment, an angry shout rang out. A general clad in armor arrived with a group of guards.
“That’s the head of the Imperial Guards!” Luo Chen recognized the newcomer and knew that the head of the Imperial Guards was one of the top martial artists in the Imperial Palace, extremely powerful.
“Hmph, just in time!” The black-clad man snorted coldly as he faced the head of the Imperial Guards and the two engaged in combat.
The head of the Imperial Guards indeed possessed impressive martial skill; his long spear danced with mighty vigor, each strike carrying immense power. Though the black-clad man was highly skilled, under the fierce attack of the head of the Imperial Guards, he gradually fell into a disadvantage.
“A great opportunity!” Mo Han saw this and was filled with joy, knowing their chance had come.
“Let’s go!” Mo Han quietly instructed, leading Luo Chen and Qing Shuang to slip towards the fake mountain entrance amidst the chaos.
With most of the guards drawn towards the commotion, there were noticeably fewer guards at the fake mountain entrance. Taking advantage of the situation, Mo Han and the others sneaked near the entrance, hiding behind a large stone and observing the situation.
“There are only two guards left; we can take them out,” Mo Han said, looking at the two guards at the entrance, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
“Alright, let’s go,” Luo Chen said, drawing a dagger and preparing to act.
“Wait,” Qing Shuang suddenly said, pointing to a stone near the fake mountain entrance, “Do you see something there?”
Luo Chen and Mo Han followed Qing Shuang’s finger and noticed that the stone near the entrance seemed to have some strange symbols carved on it.
“What is this?” Luo Chen asked with a frown, not recognizing the symbols.
“It seems to be some kind of mechanism,” Mo Han said, carefully observing the symbols, recalling something, “I think I’ve seen a similar mechanism before during my time in the Imperial Palace.”
“Can you open it?” Qing Shuang asked, feeling this might be a breakthrough to enter the fake mountain.
“I’ll try,” Mo Han said as he approached the stone and began studying the symbols intently.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang stood by, watching Mo Han nervously. They knew whether they could enter the fake mountain depended on Mo Han.
Time ticked away, and sweat formed on Mo Han’s forehead. He kept trying various combinations but couldn’t open the mechanism.
“No, I can’t open it,” Mo Han shook his head, feeling a wave of frustration.
“Are we really going to give up?” Qing Shuang asked, a bit unwilling to surrender.
“No, we still have a chance,” Luo Chen suddenly said, pointing to the intense battle between the head of the Imperial Guards and the black-clad man, “We can use them to create chaos and then take the opportunity to enter the fake mountain.”
“How do we use them?” Mo Han asked, not understanding Luo Chen’s meaning.
“We could…” Luo Chen shared his plan with Mo Han and Qing Shuang.
“Will this really work?” Qing Shuang was skeptical, sensing Luo Chen’s plan was a bit risky.
“Let’s give it a try; we don’t have a better option now,” Mo Han said, thinking Luo Chen’s plan, though risky, was worth attempting.
With their plan set, the three began their action. Luo Chen was responsible for creating chaos, Mo Han for opening the mechanism, and Qing Shuang for support.
Luo Chen took a deep breath and quietly approached the battling head of the Imperial Guards and the black-clad man, then suddenly threw a rock at them.
“Who?” The head of the Imperial Guards and the black-clad man simultaneously halted, warily scanning their surroundings.
Luo Chen remained silent, throwing another rock, this time at the head of the Imperial Guards.
“Courting death!” The head of the Imperial Guards was furious, thinking the black-clad man had ambushed him, and fiercely attacked him with his long spear.
The black-clad man, seeing this, did not back down and once again engaged in battle with the head of the Imperial Guards with his twin palms.
“A great opportunity!” Mo Han, seeing this, was overjoyed. He quickly ran to the fake mountain entrance to continue studying the symbols.
Qing Shuang stood by nervously, observing the surroundings. She knew they had to enter the fake mountain quickly; if discovered, they would be in trouble.
Time ticked away, and more sweat dripped from Mo Han’s forehead. He kept trying various combinations and finally found the correct one.
“Click!” A soft sound echoed, and the mechanism at the fake mountain entrance was opened.
“It’s open!” Mo Han exclaimed with excitement, hastily pushing open the entrance.
“Hurry inside!” Qing Shuang urged, knowing they had little time.
The three entered the fake mountain swiftly and closed the entrance behind them. They followed the passage into the depths of the fake mountain.
“We finally got in,” Luo Chen said, breathing a sigh of relief.
“Yes, but we must still be cautious,” Qing Shuang said, aware that greater dangers might lurk inside the fake mountain.
“Let’s see what the ultimate secret of the Blood Ghost Sect is,” Mo Han said, excitement gleaming in his eyes.
The three continued forward, unaware that a larger conspiracy awaited them in the depths of the fake mountain.
The sounds of chaos from afar grew louder as if more people had joined the battle.
The trio delved deeper along the passage, the fake mountain resembling a maze, winding and turning. The air was thick with a faint smell of blood mingled with an indescribable scent of decay, making one nauseous.
“This damned place feels even more sinister than last time,” Luo Chen couldn’t help but rub his arms, feeling like something was watching them from the shadows, making him uneasy all over.
“Be careful, this place is probably not so simple,” Qing Shuang’s voice was still cool, but there was a note of gravity in her tone. She took out three talismans from her pocket and handed them to Luo Chen and Mo Han, “These are Invisibility Talismans; stick them on to conceal your presence, should bypass those guards.”
“You always think of everything,” Luo Chen chuckled, carefully applying the talisman to his chest.
Mo Han followed his example, applying his talisman. The three exchanged glances and continued forward.
At the end of the passage was a massive Stone Gate, intricately carved with patterns, faintly visible traces of dark red blood stains, resembling some ancient seal. Mo Han approached and carefully examined the patterns on the Stone Gate, brows furrowed.
“Can you open it?” Luo Chen asked.
“The seal on this gate is more complex than last time; I’ll need time,” Mo Han said, taking out a Compass from his pocket and beginning to calculate.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang didn’t dare disturb him and stood silently aside, waiting anxiously. Time passed by, and beads of sweat appeared densely on Mo Han’s forehead, his face growing paler.
“Perhaps… we should go back. Don’t push yourself,” Luo Chen said, feeling uneasy seeing Mo Han’s condition. He wasn’t worried about anything else but feared that if Mo Han accidentally got himself killed, he’d suffer a big loss.
“Almost there… just a bit longer…” Mo Han gritted his teeth, eyes focused on the Compass, fingers moving rapidly.
Suddenly, a bright light flashed on the Compass, followed by a rumbling sound from the Stone Gate as it slowly opened a crack.
“It’s open!” A hint of delight flashed across Mo Han’s face, but it was soon overtaken by fatigue, as his body swayed, nearly collapsing.
