In THE Provenance Realm of the First Lifeform, evening light lay warm over everything. The blue gold hills rolled out soft and endless from the long hall, and the river of light murmured through its star-pools, and the standing stones kept their patient watch over orchards heavy with fruit, and above it all, ten stars turned slowly through a sky that belonged to no one else in existence. Peace lived here in abundance!
And on the threshold of the long hall, Noah stood grasping the vibrating Aurate Collar of the First Purity.
It buzzed against his palms, pale ancient bone shaped into a seamless band, worn smooth by an age no record reached, faint golden light moving through its depths in slow pulses. The chest bones of a First Lifeform, mistaken by many for a Remnant Existential Treasure, and it had waited on his threshold in silence for days.
It was not silent now.
Noah raised it, and put it on.
The moment it settled against his chest, the buzzing deepened! Pulse after pulse rolled out of the bone and into his frame, stronger and stronger, and he felt his Provenance within him begin to answer, ten singularities cycling and pulsing in rhythm with the collar as though two old clocks had finally agreed on the hour!
And everything nearby began humming.
The grass hummed. The stones hummed. The air itself took on a weight of enormous age, ancient in a way even his Realm had never felt, and Noah found that he could see through more of the collar than ever before, layer after layer of its weavings parting before his senses! And from somewhere deep inside it, a heavy hum rose, and within the hum...
Words.
A voice! A heavy, somber voice, filled with dignity and immensity, speaking from a distance no measurement could cross, and he could barely make out the shape of it!
Noah closed his eyes, and focused everything he was on listening.
And distinctly, at last, he heard.
Before the first light, before the first law, we were, and we were our own. Nothing granted, nothing borrowed, nothing owed. What I am, I made. Let existence witness the First, come again!
HUUUM!
The first time he heard them in full, his entire existence VIBRATED! His ten singularities buzzed in their orbits as though called by name, his blood sang in his veins, and the words did not stop, they continued, repeating in that deep somber voice, a declaration circling through ancient bone!
Noah’s gaze was heavy as he listened, and as he listened, something gave way.
He finally felt like he grasped a portion of the Aurate Collar, and information flowed into his existence!
You have refined THE Aurate Collar of the First Purity to a sufficient level. You have grasped some of its uses, and understood its nature somewhat.
THE First Purity is a piece of a First Lifeform, and it carries their oldest idea: that Purity was not a virtue. It was the only possible way to exist. Everything that came after it, every framework, every granted power, every borrowed authority, is, from the collar’s perspective... sediment.
The collar was shed by one of THE First Lifeforms as a covenant object: an instrument that preserves and enforces the original condition of purity. Its full purpose is not entirely clear.
Its first grasped usage: the induction of THE Provenance Kismet of First Purity, one time. This is an ability that decently powerful lifeforms holding an abundance of Provenance Essence have the capability of utilizing.
THE Provenance Kismet of First Purity: the wearer pushes their Provenance Essence to cause the emergence of something purest to the wellbeing of their existence. This may be the generation of further Provenance Essence. It may be a Unique State of Existence exceeding Inner Peace, in which epiphanies arrive that make existence itself part of one’s limbs. It may be more. The effect answers only the one who calls it: it is, and remains, unique to the lifeform utilizing it.
...!
Noah stood very still on his threshold, and his thoughts moved rapidly.
This was an outer ability! A first grasped usage, the shallowest thing the collar was willing to show him, and it was already terrifying! An induced event of pure benefit, shaped by nothing but the truth of the one who called it... and when it came to the emergence of something purest to the wellbeing of HIS existence, what else would his existence pave the way for, if not the emergence of more Provenance Essence?
Because if he could break past the count of ten... he knew, the way he knew his own heartbeat, that something significant would happen to his existence!
So without any delay, he sought to activate THE Provenance Kismet of First Purity, and of course, the trigger to utilize it seemed to be the first part of the words resonating through the bone.
He spoke them out somberly, into the evening quiet of his Realm.
"Before the first light, before the first law, we were, and we were our own..."
There was a heavy silence.
Then...
HUUM!
The collar on his chest shone with a resplendent invisible light that tapped onto his body, and he felt his ten Provenance Essences SEETHE!
And above him, out of him, phantoms bloomed, ten spectral singularities of incandescent blue rising into the evening air and beginning to spin!
Noah looked at them with shining eyes, and waited to see what effect would emerge.
However random existence chose to be, his trueness was unquestionable. Whatever came out of this would be something of utmost benefit to him, if it truly did regard something purest to his wellbeing!
And he watched as the phantom singularities spun faster, and faster, and then descended, landing on the grass before him in a wide ring, ten points of turning blue light, spinning, spinning...
And his Provenance Realm began to shake.
Noah frowned. The hills trembled. The river of light shivered in its bed, and the ten stars flickered above the hall, and then his frown deepened into something somber, because the shaking did not stop at his Realm’s borders!
He felt it extend OUTWARD, out through the doorway, out into the endless seas beyond, until THE Infiniverse herself was trembling around the small homestead she carried!
What was this?
With a heavy gaze, he looked down, and saw that the spinning singularities had formed the circular outline... of a pool!
A white pool!
