A Provenance Lifeform had sprouted out of a pool that was induced by the capability of a treasure that stemmed from the bones of a Provenance Lifeform. It was a ridiculous reality! And yet it lay bleeding on his grass, and Noah’s entire existence was forced to be very serious at this moment, because he had already sent a message ringing through his connection to THE Infiniverse to be on high alert!
And while his hands moved, his mind broke her words down piece by piece.
If what she said was true, then THE Sealed One attains IT. And she had said it in a tense that dragged an entire abyss open behind it: in the future.
Then the targets. All who stood against him. Your Origins are not safe. Origins! His beginnings? His very path at this moment could be considered a beginning if someone wanted to close things off.
But apart from all that was the message that...Those around you are not safe. THE Infiniverse is not safe. And then the word that had tightened everything in him.
Mother.
Naturally, he was inclined to think she was talking about HIS mother! About Amelia, the Originator of THE Infinite Cause that was now Telos!
And if a stranger from a drowning future knew his mother well enough to count her among the unsafe... then the avenues of possibility that opened up were many, and not one of them could be walked until the woman on his grass opened her eyes!
So the biggest thing now was simple. Stabilize her. Wake her.
"Ruination." He affirmed his companion as his crown’s weavings spread. "Take care of everything else. All weavings of existence should be ready to anticipate and react to any potential attack."
|Understood, Master.|
Across the connection, THE Infiniverse was already moving, her weavings pulsing on high alert through thousands of realms.
Meanwhile, Noah crossed the trembling grass and knelt beside the woman with no more hesitation.
And up close, the state of her was grievous!
On the left side of her chest, a huge tear ran through robe and flesh alike, and within it, stellar blood welled continuously around the faint shapes of organs, and Noah’s expression hardened as his senses reached deeper, because through the injury, faintly, he could see further inside her existence.
Clusters.
Clusters of many, many singularities, turning slowly in her depths, and they should have shocked him by count alone, because there were far more than his ten! Provenance Essence, in constellations!
And yet they were... dim.
Every one of them! Singularities that should have blazed the way his own blazed were guttering low, their light thin, their turning slow, an entire sky of essence burning at embers!
Noah went to work.
He tried everything he had. The Realm’s healing boon pressed into her, warmth for anything whose Lifeline was not entirely shattered. He set the Yoke against the weight of her injury itself, bearing what pressed on her frame so her body could spend itself on mending. And still the stellar blood welled, and still she paled, and so, in the end, Noah opened his own palm with a blade of his blood, and began to give her his!
His crimson gold flowed into her, glowing from within, the light of his ten Provenance Essences carried through every drop, and he watched it sink into the tear and vanish, and he kept it flowing, steady and unhurried, while she lay unconscious and breathing shallowly on his grass and his mind turned her every word over and over!
Like this, time began to pass.
Minutes turned into hours. The three stars wheeled slowly over the long hall. His blood flowed, and her blood slowed, and she did not wake.
Noah stayed kneeling beside her, and at some point in the second hour, he spoke quietly to no one at all.
"To heal is also human." His palm stayed open above her wound. "The first thing a human ever did with knowledge was probably pull a thorn out of someone else. To take care of another who cannot ask for it... that is as human as anything else..."
In the third hour, her wounds stopped bleeding.
The tear across her chest began to close, flesh knitting slowly under stellar light, and Noah leaned in to press more of his blood into the healing... and her body rejected it!
His crimson gold stopped at her skin and simply would not enter! The Realm’s warmth slid off her! Every gift he offered was turned back at her boundary, gently, absolutely.
It was the distinct rejection his own existence gave to everything external, as if her whole unconscious frame was saying one thing at this time.
I am a Provenance Lifeform. I do not need anything external!
No matter what he tried after that, her body inherently denied it. She would finish her own mending, with her own dim constellations, at her own pace. He could only wait for her to wake.
Noah sat back on the grass beside her, and sighed, and spoke out loud to the evening.
"How the hell did that fucker attain IT? What even IS ’it’?"
The Realm did not answer. The woman did not answer. The collar on his chest hummed its old covenant to itself and offered nothing, and there were so many questions stacked up in him that they had begun forming an orderly line!
So, since he could do nothing for now... he made himself busy.
And he began to cook.
A Wok formed itself out of his weavings easily enough, wide and black and heavy, and a fire bloomed beneath it on the grass, and from his stores he drew out the meats he had scooped up long ago in THE Krazhor-Nul Dimension, flesh marbled in rings, pale sirloin that deepened Trueness, and THE True Human Emperor rolled up nothing at all because he wore no sleeves, and began to cook and grill beside an unconscious Provenance Lifeform!
Smoke rose sweet and heavy over the blue gold hills. His blades of blood, so recently instruments of lineage surgery, sliced meat in paper-thin sheets, and his main body worked the fire born of his Infinite Sanguine Mana in unhurried peace while far away, his clones oversaw THE Ymnaros, where the long Dimensionlapse was finally finishing, another Dimension folding its last edges into his own, THE Vaelos, the sky from which the armies of Infinite Lifeforms had once poured, settling into place as new territory.
And Noah ate as he cooked.
Because to enjoy the harvests all around existence... was also human! He ate standing over the fire, and he planned as he ate, contingency stacking on contingency! If her warning was true, there would be much to do as he needed more information first.
And as he did all this, on the tenth hour since her arrival...
The nose of the unique lifeform on his grass twitched.
Once. Twice.
An instant later, her eyes flung open as existence began to buzz around her, and her figure rose up off the grass in a single motion, and her eyes, wide awake and shining...
Were locked onto the array of food Noah had arranged before him!
