Cthulhu arrived in the [Void Between Realm], glancing at the place the call originated from. His presence immediately stopped the two-way battle between these nine Grand Dao Saints. No one expected the situation to devolve to such a level."A taboo," Jiang Qing muttered. He was on the highest alert after seeing the creature that suddenly appeared. His true body in the Infinite Divine Court was already prepared to descend. Jiang Qing also conducted a swift cost and loss analysis, deciding that, in the worst-case scenario, he might abandon the Reverse Black Stone Base, but he must take his people away.
The Highest Sovereign’s reaction was the mildest out of everybody present. The four people he had hired immediately decided to run away; they were paid to fight other third-step powerhouses, not to deal with a taboo. Jiang Qing had to convince them to wait and see, even offering higher prices just to keep them.
Meanwhile, the people on Grand Dao’s side received orders to stop Cthulhu from descending into the Chaos Origin Realm. Unfortunately, Grand Dao underestimated her control over these people. At their level, there are a few things that they are afraid of, and one of them involves the unknown. The [Abnormality] fit into the category of unknown power, unknown origin, unknown secrets involved, and even unknown threat level — except that it was very high.
Without knowing who their enemy was and what it was capable of, how dare they get involved with such a creature? No matter what benefit the Grand Dao offered, none of them mattered more than their safety. Anyway, they often cooperate with Grand Dao because she controls the [Transcendence Path]. However, if something goes wrong and Grand Dao is weakened, she’ll lose control over the path, and they can also transcend.
While all nine individuals had different reasons, their final choice can be summed up in three words: wait and see. Sadly, there was someone who had no choice in what he did: the Creation Cardinal. Without much of a choice, Grand Dao had to send them to intercept the Great Dreamer.
Cthulhu — who knew that time was of the essence — became irate when he saw a tiny ant trying to stop him. With a glance, the Creation Cardinal’s body turned into countless worms before dissipating between Heaven and Earth. They were dead. Their [Existence] was forever wiped out from the code of reality, meaning that even Grand Dao could not revive them. Such a powerhouse — who stood at the pinnacle of the second-class echelon of the universe — was dead with one glance.
As shocking as this was, not one of the 9 Grand Dao Saints was surprised. The difference between the third and second steps was just that vast. This cardinal might have been special and retained even higher authority from Grand Dao, but that did not change the fact that they were only a Tribunal Saint.
With this last resistance, Cthulhu, the Sleeper of R’lyeh, finally arrived at his destination. His full form did not barge into Timeline NP89076H or the Chaos Origin Realm; he understood how fragile these humans’ living space was, so he only allowed a morsel of his will to grace the presence of these mortals.
Chaos Origin Realm, Heaven Splitting Holy Land:
As soon as the blood beam rushed into the sky, all the people fighting temporarily stopped. A sense of impending doom loomed over their heads, forcing them to address the source. These Saints immediately detected the ritual location. After all, that place was only hidden by a blessing of the Heaven Deception Array — not the true formation itself. Not to mention, the blood beam was an obvious giveaway.
"Hurry up and stop the sacrifice. Someone is summoning a great being," Hundunxi’s voice reverberated between Heaven and Earth. However, no one moved. For any being, the unknown is always the scariest. Without knowing what was going on, only a fool would rush to solve an anomaly.
"Fools, a taboo is coming. Hurry up."
Finally, someone could not resist. No matter which version it was, Hundunxi used to be a third-step powerhouse. If even such a being is acting this way, there must be a reason. However, before these people could react, they sensed a terrifying aura; to be precise, they sensed the clash of 9 Grand Dao Saints.
No matter who it was — even top second-step powerhouses such as the Erudite Duchess or the Slaughter Ancestor — their faces paled. The power of these beings was too terrifying. The Primordial Chaos Saints — who could also sense outside of the timeline — almost had their Dao Heart broken. No, a few who were too slow to react and failed to cut off their senses in time had their Dao Hearts broken.
Everyone was wondering what had happened for nine of these beings to suddenly clash. What did this blood beam do? The expeditioners — who knew or guessed this was Wang Wei’s doing — wanted to cuss. This commander of theirs was slowly proving to be too much.
"It’s too late," Hundunxi’s voice suddenly spread.
Before anyone could react to these words, the sky suddenly changed. The Tribunal Lords were the first to feel it: a terrifying whisper that seemed to contain the deepest truths of the universe. It was so tempting. Anyone who heard it would find something they desire: the way to condense the Dao Quintessence? The whisper has it. The way to become a True Transcendence? The Whisper has it. The way to suppress the Grand Dao? The Whisper has it. Anything they desire or wish to know, the whisper contains the secret.
Such a thing was tempting to anyone — no matter their cultivation realm. However, there is no free lunch in this world. Why would the Great One offer you knowledge beyond mortal comprehension? What price were these cultivators willing to pay?
"Protect your mind," Hundunxi roared, awakening these Tribunal Lords from being absorbed by the whisper. Everyone’s face turned even paler — especially the Chaos Origin cultivators and the Infinite Divine Court. Wang Wei had warned the others, so they had some form of protection. But these guys were directly affected.
"Damn it, I almost died," the Erudite Duchess thought. As a person who walks the Path of Knowledge, the Whisper was the most tempting to her. As such, even with the previous preventive measures, she almost lost herself. Luckily, Hundunxi reminded everyone.
"I’m starting to regret being associated with this bastard," the Duchess thought. For many years, she had thought that Wu Hong was one of her most successful investments. But in just a few yuan epochs of knowing her husband, the Duchess has started to regret her choice.
Cthulhu — the Son of Rug — opened his mouth to swallow the blood beam. A humanoid look of enjoyment appeared in his octopus-like face. What a satisfying meal. To preserve the trump card, the Great Cthulhu ordered his Saint followers to lie low and not reveal themselves — just for an opportunity such as this.
While enjoying its meal, the Great Old One sensed danger approaching. Knowing time was of the essence, he focused on the task at hand. "Hmm? That aura." His eyes shifted to Mingyunjun. How could he forget that aura? A while ago, the River of Fate became adept at hunting all its non-Saint followers.
Every time Cthulhu successfully created a new follower, the other person would die a miserable death. All the deaths seemed coincidental, but his people discovered the machination of fate at play. Outraged by the situation, Cthulhu paid a price to find the source, and he learned that some bastard had sacrificed his people to the River of Fate, allowing the latter to create the perfect mechanism to hunt down his followers.
A boundless rage overwhelmed the Great Old One’s mind as he thought about how his dire situation in the past few epochs was because of this bastard. With a thought, Cthulhu tried to assimilate Mingyunjun into his dream, causing the Fate Chaos Demon God to be terrified.
With a flick of his finger, Mingyunjun summoned Pangu’s Power Force and used its power to block the attack. However, half of his body turned into butterflies before disappearing. Mingyunjun was terrified, knowing this injury was the highest level of Dao Injury. The process of healing would take such a long time — and that’s only if he can heal in the first place.
"Mingyunjun — you!"
Many eyes were on the Fate Chaos Demon God, and it took him a moment to realize why. The Power Force was supposed to be distributed among them. As a matter of fact, it was because of this force that the Heaven Splitting Holy Land could resist such a powerful attack in which they were outnumbered at least 1 to 3. However, they now discovered Mingyunjun had secretly gained control of the Power Force. From his personality, they could tell he was planning to take everything and leave them no crumbs.
Mingyunjun coldly looked at these idiots. The Path of the Dao was solitary. Did they think he would give these imbeciles an opportunity to become a third-step powerhouse? However, now was not the time to be thinking about this. Cthulhu was irate that it had failed to kill the ant, so he attacked again, and this time, he even used his claw.
