Alec looked down at the notification that had appeared on his system, only then understanding what the fuss was about.

[> All stats boosted by 20% for the next thirty minutes. <]

He immediately realized that the howl must have been what triggered it, as the howl was the only thing he’d done before the message appeared, the only reasonable explanation for a boost that came out of nowhere.

Then he heard a howl from the left like a response to his own, challenging him, as if that wasn’t enough, a chorus of howls rose from the right.

Immediately Alec’s expression sank, he hadn’t expected an answer, as he knew the howl would draw nearby demonic beasts, but he hadn’t cared much at first, because the beast he was trying to draw was those close to the entrance of the Dark forest and like most special regions he was expecting that they were usually just Low Tier 7 demonic beasts.

In his current transformed state, he believed he could handle them all, especially with the power surging through his body, but those new howls that responded to him clearly didn’t come from the edge, or close by.

They had come from deep inside the Dark forest.

And then Alec found himself praying that whatever responded wouldn’t be Low Tier 8... or even a Peak Tier 7.

As he summoned his golems, immediately they appeared, they swiftly formed up around him without hesitation, taking their positions as if they’d rehearsed it a thousand times.

Titan. Legion. Butcher. Oni. Saint. Magnito. Hive Queen. Hunter—every one of them at Peak Tier 6 realm.

No matter what happened, Alec had no intention of leaving this place until at least two of them broke through into the Tier 7 realm, as he believed he needed that much powers in order to be able to accomplish what he wanted to do.

“Here they come,” Legion said, even before anyone else could see a single beast, however none of the golems even doubted him for a second, and that was because of the fact that Legion’s scanning range was the widest of them all.

And even his mentality stats were higher than theirs, which just showed that in that field he clearly surpassed them, so tasks like locating enemies and navigating the Beast Forest were always left to him.

Not long after he spoke, Legion reached behind his back and drew a metallic gun, but it wasn’t fully formed yet.

As his left hand moved at the same time, pulling up several cubes around him that kept shifting shape, before he then snapped them onto the weapon piece by piece, and the once simple-looking gun quickly expanded into a massive assault-style firearm, pulsing with purple thunder.

Seeing Legion assemble a gun, the others didn’t waste time, they tightened their grips around their own weapons, and those who hadn’t brought out their weapons earlier either conjured them or pulled them out immediately.

A minute later, they heard it, the heavy slam of paws pounding the ground, closing fast, and then, thirty seconds after that, the stampede arrived.

More than twenty Low Tier 7 demonic beasts surged toward them.

“Titan, stay back. You won’t be fighting in this,” Alec ordered.

Immediately Titan’s expression shifted at once, but when Alec continued, he realized he’d overthought it, his master wasn’t abandoning him, but he was doing the opposite.

“X please help me divert Every bit of EXP we gain straight into Titan until he begins his evolution,” Alec said, before any of the golems could even process it, Alec dashed forward.

But that wasn’t what shocked them most, it was the speed at which he was dashing at.

He moved like a streak of white-black lightning, with his arms swept back, and his body cutting through the air with predatory force; ahead, he caught sight of the first wave of beasts.

It was his first time seeing creatures this strange, this twisted—so he triggered his inspect skill mid-charge.

These two were the ones Alec still considered the real threats, because of their forms and the aura they carried, the others? He believed he could dispatch them quickly with no problems.

The Nightveil Stalker was a massive spider-wolf hybrid, an existence that felt wrong just to look at, it had a wolf’s head, clusters of spider eyes, and eight spider legs, like some deformed creation that shouldn’t exist... yet it clearly did.

Then there was the Gravefang Cerberus, a three-headed hellhound, with each head seeming to carry a different nature, a different menace, after reading their status tabs, Alec decided to go after the Nightveil Stalker first.

As it looked easier to manage than the Cerberus, with his target chosen, he lunged into the air.

But as he descended toward the wolf-spider hybrid, the Nightveil Stalker caught on to his intent, as it proceeded to tap one of its legs on the ground, and its body sank into the ground.

In that instant, a small shadow-pond formed beneath it leading to its fall, the moment its entire body vanished into the darkness, the ground smoothed over and returned to normal, as if nothing had ever been there.

Alec, who was still midair with his claws spread wide, felt his vision sharpen unnaturally, as if he could see faintly into the path the creature had taken underground, for a moment, he understood why.

There were still specks of dark-element residue lingering in the air which he could pick up with his now evolved senses as a werewolf, though they were little specks but they were enough for him to trace the route the Nightveil Stalker had used, if he wanted, he could chase it down.

And that was exactly what he planned to do.

But in that stretched-out, slow-motion moment, when his mind seemed to be running faster than his body, his senses caught something else, the Cerberus, which was only a short distance away, was already lunging toward him.

Then out of nowhere—

A rocket shell, which seems to be covering something laced with icy power inside it, tore through the air and slammed into the Cerberus’s side.

Boom.

The impact rocked the three-headed beast away, disrupting its leap and stopping it from reaching Alec.

As a thunderous boom rang out as the shell slammed into the beast, and the section of its body that took the hit rapidly frosted over, sealed in a thick coat of ice.

Alec didn’t even need to look back to know it was Legion who had made the shot, from behind him, he could already hear his golems barking for him to press forward, that they would cover him.

Not that he even doubted them for a second, if there was anything, it was the fact that he felt too powerful, after being merged with the Eclipse Fenwolf, he could feel a violent strength humming through his bones, and he wanted to test exactly how far it could go.

Before he even touched the ground, Alec dragged both hands through the air as if he were tearing something open, and like magic, the earth responded.

Right where the Nightveil Stalker had vanished, the ground split apart, revealing the mouth of a tunnel—pitch black, swallowing light.

Alec didn’t hesitate, as he bent forward and, the moment his feet hit the earth, he dove straight in, as the ground sealed shut behind him instantly, smoothing over as though it had never opened at all.
