“Hive Queen, I hate to do this, but I need you to hold off that ugly-looking wolf for a little longer, just long enough for me to kill this other arrogant one.” Alec said, pointing directly at the Grimfang Alpha when he emphasized the word ugly. The insult instantly enraged the Grimfang Alpha, as it leaped toward Alec in the very next second, however, before it could reach him, the Hive Queen took action by flickering her left hand, like she was pulling something through the air.
And in an instant, the Grimfang Alpha’s body was yanked violently away.
Under the artificial sun of the Beast Forest, faint, almost transparent threads became visible around the Grimfang Alpha, as strings so perfectly blended with the environment that even Alec hadn’t noticed them before they were activated became visible to naked eyes after they swung the Grimgfang Alpha away.
“No problem, Master, just don’t die before me,” the Hive Queen said calmly as she and her mutated Arachne which was the last of her summon surviving moved toward where the Grimfang Alpha had been dragged towards as they planned to delay and pinned him down there as long as they could endure.
To the Grimfang Alpha, Alec’s action was nothing short of absolute disrespect, picking the Shadow wolf alpha over it made its rage toward Alec skyrocketed by far, as it felt it had been utterly looked down upon, for Alec to have bare summons hold it down.
“You think you can kill me? Oh... I’ll enjoy this very much,” the Shadow Wolf Alpha sneered as it began circling Alec, mockery glinting in its eyes, its gaze lingered on Alec’s dangling left hand, which he was desperately holding together with the bone hand guard that had reconstructed itself.
Seeing the state of that arm, made the Shadow Wolf Alpha smile feeling proud about its doings, and in the next moment, it dashed forward towards Alec trying to close the distance between them.
[> Low Bloodline Skill – Merge – Lesser Sangurion <]
As the Shadow Wolf Alpha lunged, Alec retreated backwards instead of advancing, as he forcefully activated his gravity control, and detonated the power beneath his legs which helped in launching him into the air.
Mid-air, he then proceeded to ignite his flame mana underneath his feet, propelling his retreat further backwards as his body began flaring as he continued to retreat, at the same time, he completed the spell casting for the merge with his newest Bloodline soul.
The bloodline of a bat-type beast—the Lesser Sangurion.
He had chosen this bloodline specifically for its blood manipulation abilities and for how perfectly it synergized with his second seal, as he had been hoping that I would further amplify his second seal effects.
After binding this beast soul to himself, Alec had always wanted to test just how much of a boost it would give him while he was in the Second Seal state.
However, he had never found the right opportunity to use it, until now.
Mid-flight, he felt the Sangurion tattoo at the back of his neck begin to burn, as its markings began pulsing as if they had come alive.
At the same time, his other tattoos slowly sank back into his skin and vanished, leaving only the Sangurion mark glowing vividly on his back.
Alec frowned in surprise, there was no cracking of bones, no violent reshaping like before, for a brief moment, he even thought he wouldn’t feel any pain this time, then it hit him.
His body erupted in agony, as though his skin had been set on fire from the inside, as his complexion rapidly turned pale, and an intense itching sensation crawled along his gums, he started to feel pressure building in his canine teeth—threatening, insistent like they wanted to pop out from his mouth.
And then they too began to grow.
The pain deepened, burrowing into his skull, sharp and maddening, but just as suddenly as it came, it faded away.
When Alec landed, he felt another change, his ears had elongated slightly, not long enough to make him resemble an elf, but long enough that the difference was unmistakable.
As he straightened himself, he immediately sensed it, his control over blood seems to have grown far stronger, he could just tell, but he had no time to dwell on it, because his now heightened perception snapped him back to reality.
Although his mental sense was spread wide, but it wasn’t what had warned him first of the impending danger that was reaching for him while he was still dazed about the powers of his new form.
It was his ears.
Yea, they had twitched sharply, picking up movement behind him, and from there his instinct took over, in this new state which was distinctly different from his werewolf form, Alec tilted his body to the side.
And that was when he saw it.
A clawed limb burst out of a shadow portal that had formed above his head, the Shadow Wolf Alpha was striking once again, but this time Alec didn’t have any hesitation, as he moved.
In one fluid motion, he reached out with his right hand and bid to clamp down on the Alpha’s outstretched hand as it emerged from the portal, utterly fearless, and not giving a damn.
While his hand sliced through the air in a blur of crimson, his fingers elongated, sharpening as they dug into the Alpha’s furred hand and drew blood instantly, and he didn’t stop there, he deliberately raked downward toward the paw, forcing more blood to spill.
But before his grip could reach the end, the claw was forcefully yanked out of Alec’s grip and vanished back into the shadow portal.
This caused Alec to lift his gaze to the Shadow Wolf Alpha who was still across him, and he saw him just withdrawing its hand from the small shadow portal that had materialised before it, fresh blood still dripping from its hand. Its red eyes locked onto Alec, blazing with irritation and unrestrained rage.
At that moment, the Alpha could no longer understand the human before it.
Earlier, it had sensed a connection, something wolfish, something familiar. But now, as Alec moved, another scent assaulted its senses: the stench of a bat-type beast, one of the most detested presences to any wolf.
That alone was enough to ignite its fury. Alec’s altered form only made it worse.
And now any thought of toying around with the human before him had vanished, the Alpha lunged forward, intent on closing the distance immediately.
Meanwhile, the droplets of blood Alec had torn from the Shadow Wolf Alpha hovered near just above the ground near him, trembling as if alive.
Alec noticed it almost idly, he knew without doubt, that he was the one controlling them with his mind, yet the act felt effortless, instinctive.
It made him wonder just how far his blood control extended in this new state, then his ears twitched again, like echolocation, as a movement was painted as a clear image in his mind, and it was that of the Alpha’s body lunging straight for him, immediately Alec stopped trying to analyze what was happening to him.
As he decided to simply flow with whatever he was feeling, he reached for one of his Second Seal abilities: Blood weapon conjuring, as he was intending to conjure a katana-shaped weapon, yet before the thought fully formed, the floating blood droplets that was around him surged upward, spiraling together in the air.
In the next instant, a Blood Katana took shape in his hand.
As Alec became a streak of crimson as he dashed forward, planning to meet the Shadow Alpha’s dark blur h
ead-on, though he was kinda moving at the last possible moment.
