After dragging another Dragonmir clansman into the battle to relieve the Fourth Elder, the situation did not become any easier for the Gordons Patriarch.Against the City Lord alone, he had already gained the upper hand and was confident that victory would only be a matter of time, but they had not accounted for the fact that one of the Tier 8 mages supporting the City Lord was a member of the Dragonmir Clan.
From the way the man fought, the Patriarch could tell he came from one of the Dragonmir branch clans and not the core clan itself, however; what shocked him was not that a Dragonmir was involved, but that the City Lord, known for his extreme selfishness, was willing to drag even his own branch family into this attack.
Still, the Patriarch endured, even though the situation was growing increasingly bleak.
By now, he was no longer relying on his katana alone, he had unsheathed his wakizashi as well, wielding both blades as he fought desperately against the two Dragonmir clansmen who were using everything they had to bring him down.
He continuously cast Eternal Earth Walls to maintain a fast and stable defense to some of their attacks, even so, he still found himself on the receiving end of claw slashes and blade wounds.
And the reason was simple, his attention was heavily divided, he couldn’t help glancing toward the Tier 7 battlefield.
There, it was essentially a battle of six versus twenty, that was the only reason he had sent his golems away instead of keeping them by his side to maintain a stable ground, because he believed they were far more valuable supporting that front than staying with him, as it would help keep the Gordons from incurring a casualty this early.
With his two other golems joining the fight, the clash had become eight versus twenty, which still left them at a massive numerical disadvantage.
His two golems, Cyclopes and White, were each facing three Tier 7 mages on their own, placing them under immense pressure, but they were not alone in such a struggle.
Both the Third Elder and the Grand Elder were also each holding off three Tier 7 mages, while the remaining elders—the Second, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh—were each fighting against two Tier 7 opponents each.
They were barely holding on by summoning their golems to support them, but none of them possessed a Tier 7 golem, only the Fifth elder did, clearly, this is why they were only managing to survive, if not for their good combat instincts and their golems helping them take most of the heavy hittings they might have been killed by now.
That is why once their golems exhausted their endurance and began to break apart, they would lose what little initiative they still had.
At that point, they would be forced into full defense, and casualties would become inevitable.
Deeper into the mid-rank battlefield, the older mages of the Gordons Clan were already falling. Zack was doing everything he could to lead the Tier 6 Gordons mages, but their opponents were more than twice their number.
As for the Tier 5 and Tier 4 realms below, annihilation was only a matter of time, bodies littered the ground, both Gordons mages and City Hall soldiers, yet even though members of the attacking army were dying, it made little difference, as there were always more ready to step forward and replace the fallen.
For the Gordons, however, each loss only made the situation more desperate, this was what truly troubled George Gordons, as that worry crossed his mind, another claw strike tore through the air toward him.
He swiftly raised his left hand, the one holding his wakizashi, to block, but he was caught off guard when the claws clamped onto the blade instead.
At the same time, a green, vine-like chain wrapped tightly around the katana in his other hand, this move finally forced his full attention back to the fight, he suddenly felt a brutal impact.
As both Dragonmir mages before him drew back their fists and struck outward together, slamming him away, as his body was sent crashing into one of the inner region’s buildings.
They slowly advanced toward the rubble, smirks spreading across their faces.
“You’re fighting two top mages and still have the nerve to look elsewhere, it seems you’re seriously looking down on us.” the City Lord said coldly.
“Only death awaits you,” the other Dragonmir Tier 8 mage added.
But then, from within the rubble, the body of the Gordons’ Patriarch began to rise, he stomped his right foot against the ground, invoking a gravity push with himself at the center.
Instantly, the debris around him was blasted away, leaving him standing alone in the cleared space.
At that moment, George Gordons truly felt at a loss, not only was he running out of ideas, but he was also running out of time, he couldn’t maintain this state much longer.
While merged with his dual clown golems, he was able to retain the attributes of both personalities without any instability, he gets to keep the cold persona’s terrifying combat skills and the jovial persona’s exceptional casting abilities.
Yet even with all of that, facing mages who were both in the mid and high tiers of the Tier 8 realm was far harder than he wanted to admit, if they had only been low-rank Tier 8 mages, he would have already ended the battle swiftly. But these opponents were different. They were stronger.
As he shuffled through his thoughts, trying to decide his next move, he suddenly noticed something cutting through the air, dragging a sharp friction of wind behind it as it sped toward the other Dragonmir mage.
Though George saw it moving at a blinding speed, the Dragonmir branch elder felt his danger sense screaming, and he immediately tried to shift to the right.
But the attack still landed.
A sharp bang rang out, and a hole exploded through the Dragonmir elder’s left shoulder, fortunately, because he had moved in time, the attack missed his heart by a narrow margin.
Even so, the single strike filled him with terror, he couldn’t feel much pain at first, but the moment he tried to lift his left arm, he could agony surged through his body.
Fear crept into his expression as he wondered what kind of weapon the Gordons Clan had used to strike him, and he wasn’t the only one.
Even the City Lord wore the same look of shock and disbelief, the fear of the unknown was clearly very effective even against Tier 8 mages, especially when it could cause a life threat.
He hadn’t expected the Gordons to still have something hidden up their sleeves. That was why he, and the elder that had been dispatched from the Dragonmir branch clan had all turned their gazes toward the direction the attack had come from, trying to trace its origin, but they weren’t the only ones trying to understand the origin of the attack, even the Gordons Clan Patriarch was trying to locate it.
But before they could identify it, they saw a humanoid ice golem flying toward them, beside it was a human mage, seated on what looked like an ice board, following
The moment the Patriarch saw the face of the boy on the board, his expression changed instantly, the City Lord, on the other hand, frowned in confusion, while the Dragonmir branch elder’s gaze shifted even further back. There, he spotted another golem.
It was Legion, who had just lifted his eyes from his sniper’s scope.
“What sharp intuition seems assassinating a Tier 8 mage from this distance is going to be some trouble. I’d better move closer,” Legion muttered as he slung the weapon behind him and took to the skies, flying to meet Alec.
At that moment, the entire battlefield seemed to pause, all eyes turning toward the two new figures that had just appeared above the Outer region.
“Old man, your grandson Alec Gordons has arrived,” Alec said, his voice amplified by mana and spreading across the battlefield, in a single sentence, he made his identity known to everyone, including the confused soldiers of the City Hall army.
