Chapter 1029: New Big Three.

The aura released by Alec’s golems wasn’t only a shock to the City Lord’s army, but also to the mages of the Gordons Clan themselves.

Within the Gordons Clan, everyone knew how unimaginably difficult it was to push either a mage or a golem beyond the mid ranks, especially the golems, as advancement did not come easily after that point.

Among all the elders, only the Patriarch and the Fifth Elder possessed Tier 7 golems, that alone showed just how hard it was to elevate a golem’s realm.

Unlike Alec’s seemingly effortless progress, the path of golem evolution had never been a clear or established one, it has always required countless trials and errors to discover which evolution routes were even viable.

And with every failure, it became harder for a golem to ever break through again, and that wasn’t even the worst part.

The materials and resources required were unimaginably rare and expensive, that when the Patriarch evolved Cyclopes, and when the Fifth Elder evolved his Tiger Golem, the cost had nearly drained the Gordons Clan treasury making them poorer than most low rank clan, which is why the patriarch acts like a stingy man all the time.

Because of that, the rest of the elders, without a guaranteed path or full confidence in their methods, didn’t dare to push their golems further, as a failed evolution would mean catastrophic losses for the clan with nothing to show for it.

That fear alone had discouraged many of them, so once their golems reached the Peak of Tier 6, most of them simply stopped trying.

And that was exactly why their overall battle power hadn’t increased drastically, because if they had Tier 7 golems, they would never have been forced into such a defensive position in this battle.

Even the Patriarch himself had gone through dangerous secret missions just to gather the materials needed to push White into the Tier 7 realm, as he was unwilling to burden the clan treasury any further, and this had only succeeded because the evolution routes of White were already known.

But here his grandson stood before him, already in command of three Tier 7 golems, it was impossible to deny what he was seeing before him, he could feel their auras clearly, and he clearly recognised them as part of his golem group.

Still, he believed that this was not the moment to ponder on how his little boy had managed to find an evolution route for his Ice Golem to the High ranks, or for the other two golems whose paths he couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

Seeing Alec’s progress once again confirmed his belief, that his grandson was the greatest golem genius the Gordons Clan had ever produced.

“Kill that boy for me, he is nothing but a Tier 6 mage. You, you, you—engage his golems and keep them occupied. As long as he is killed, everything will be resolved. We still have the numerical advantage,” the City Lord suddenly ordered, breaking the silence that had fallen over the battlefield.

With those words, he issued his command, pulling four Tier 7 mages from the Tier 7 battle to carry out the assassination of Alec Gordons.

Cyclopes, White, the Third Elder, and the Grand Elder had each been facing three Tier 7 mages, it had already been an overwhelming burden, and although they had secretly wished for some relief, but now when that relief finally came...

They immediately realized they should never have wished for it.

One mage peeled off from each group and shot toward Alec at high speed.

“Don’t let any harm come to Alec!” George shouted, trying to rush forward.

But the City Lord slashed out with his claw, forcing him to raise his left hand and cast an advanced Earth Shield to block the strike.

On the surface of the shield appeared the face of a woman with serpents for hair, at that moment, George wished more than anything that he could abandon everything and rush to Alec’s side to protect him.

But wishes did not change reality.

He immediately cast another spell that was complimentary to the shield spell, and the eyes of the woman on the shield snapped open, glowing with a brilliant white light, and the snake-like hair writhed to life, hissing as they stirred.

Slowly, stone-like fragments began to spread across the City Lord’s body, they started from his eyes and crept outward, covering his head as he stared at the shield.

With the City Lord temporarily dealt with, George turned his attention back to the battlefield, but the moment his gaze shifted, a massive hammer which was wielded by the other Dragonmir Tier 8 mage slammed into his face, sending him flying backward and crashing into another cluster of houses in the inner region.

All across the battlefield, tension was at its peak, everyone was trying to reach Alec, yet each of them was being held back by fierce opponents of their own, and breaking away started to look far more difficult than they had imagined.

In the blink of an eye, the Tier 7 mages were already upon a straight path to Alec and his golems, pushing past even the Tier 6 mages who stood frozen in fear.

Legion moved his hand towards his side and drew out a new firearm, it looked like a hybrid between a handgun and a shotgun.

The grip was sleek like that of a pistol, while the barrel had the thick, reinforced structure of a shotgun, clearly built to unleash devastating power.

“These ones are mine, Legion. You’ve already had your fun, haven’t you?” Titan said, as he realized Legion was about to raise his weapon, so before Legion could properly aim, he calmly stepped forward.

The Four Tier 7 mages charging toward them heard every word, as it suddenly dawned on them that the golems were actually arguing over who would get to face them.

That realization enraged them beyond measure, because they were trying to reason why they felt a single one of them which were in Tier 7 realm was enough to engage all of them, as if they were nothing more than trivial opponents, and it felt like the ultimate insult to them.

As they believed they were being underestimated to an unforgivable degree.
