Chapter 1032: Golem Mage 2.

By this time, the rest of the Captain-ranked golems had already clashed with the human mages.

“Glacuis,” Bulwark called out.

At first, it seemed as though no one was near, but that wasn’t the case at all. Glacuis, was Titan’s Number Two Captain-ranked golem, and he was only a few feet away from Bulwark.

The moment Bulwark called his name, it was as if Glacuis instantly understood his intention, and without wasting a second, he cast an ice spell around Bulwark.

[> Mid Tier Spell – Ice Spear Burial <]

Because they were still within the Absolute Zero domain, casting ice-element spells was far easier and far more effective than usual.

About ten ice spears rose from the frozen ground, their transparent bodies engraved with faint, tiny-ice runes, their tips remaining embedded in the ice as they formed, standing like pillars of crystal.

Bulwark moved his right hand and ripped one of the spears free and hurled it through the air, but before throwing it, he had infused it with his own mana.

[> Mid Tier Spell – Ice Spear Eruption <]

The moment the water mage heard the name of the spell, his expression twisted in alarm, but then Bulwark had lifted his right hand again, and the remaining spears that were still stuck in the ground slowly rose into the air.

Then he thrust his hand forward.

As if mirroring his movement, all the ice spears shot ahead at terrifying speed, following behind the first, upon impact, they exploded, not in a violent blast meant to tear bodies apart, but in waves of condensed frost energy that had mixed with Bulwark’s mana, which acted as the true catalyst of their trigger on the water barrier.

The water mage immediately sensed danger, after the explosions, his water barrier froze solid, and once that happened, it lost its greatest defensive advantage—the ability to disperse and redirect incoming force.

What had once been a fluid, adaptive shield was now nothing more than brittle ice, waiting to be shattered.

The mage tried to retreat as the explosions from the ice spears filled the air with freezing fog, clouding his vision, but then he heard something shatter.

He immediately knew what it was—his water barrier, it had been frozen solid, stripped of its flexibility, and now it broke as easily as fragile glass.

But what he never expected was the fist that suddenly rose toward his jaw from below, without thinking, he tried to block it with both hands, coating them in compressed water bubbles.

Then he heard a sharp swish cut through the air, before he could understand what had happened, his vision spun upside down.

As he fell, he saw his own body below him—headless.

In that fleeting moment between life and death, his mind analyzed everything.

Bulwark had already identified him as a Peak Tier 6 mage, which was why he had been targeted first; when the initial strike failed to break his defense, Bulwark had immediately coordinated with Glacuis to weaken the water barrier by freezing it.

Then came the feint.

Bulwark had thrown a low uppercut with his left hand from behind the fog, forcing the mage to react and block with both arms, that was the moment he had lost.

The fog had hidden most of Bulwark’s movements, so the mage had only seen the left hand, and all it had done was draw his attention away, while at the same time, Bulwark’s right hand swung in a deadly hook.

Strapped to that arm was his round shield, and along its edge ran crystallized ice sharper than most blades, in a single, clean motion, the shield sliced through his neck.

Sending his head flying into the air.

But Bulwark didn’t stop there. Without hesitation, he continued forward, carving a path straight into the heart of the City Lord’s army.

It was almost ironic, a golem wielding nothing but shields was killing faster and more efficiently than most mages who carried blades.

He slammed his left hand forward, striking a mage’s head directly, as the small knight-like shield strapped to his arm, fitted like a hand guard, released an ice spike from its center that pierced straight into the mage’s skull, killing him instantly.

At other times, he would hurl his not-quite-circular shield outward, and it would spin through the air, cutting into several mages before rebounding back to him like a boomerang.

But Bulwark was not the only one wreaking havoc among the Captain ranks.

Not far away stood Kagetsume, the leader of Oni’s Shinigami golems, he was a red Oni, and unlike his master, the Oni Shinigami golems were pure flesh golems, created from the bodies of fallen mages.

Through a special soul-infusion technique performed by Oni, their new flesh and muscles were transformed into the perfect form of an Oni.

Kagetsume was the leading captain, he also wore no mask, and it also seems many of the other Shinigami Captains also preferred not to wear armor.

He stood about seven and a half feet tall, he wore something like a torn Japanese kimono, ripped around the waist, paired with tightly fitted hakama. The upper part of the kimono was worn loosely, open at the chest, revealing what looked like a black, flame-shaped tattoo spreading from his back to his chest.

On closer inspection, those flames seem to form the face of a demon, his twin horns and elongated canines only made him look even more terrifying.

In his right hand was a kanabo—a massive Japanese club with four sides, each studded with pointed balls and spikes, mounted on a long handle, and on his left hand was an iron claw gauntlet, its talons wide and deadly.

His fighting style was simple, brutal, and overwhelming.

The claws were for hooking his opponents, ripping them apart, or tearing out their insides, while the kanabo was for smashing skulls and shattering bodies.

While Bulwark and Kagetsume were brutally direct in the way they eliminated their opponents, Number One was far more casual in his approach.

He wielded a laser spear, its body mostly made of metal, with only the blade portion igniting into pure laser light. Just by looking at it, Alec found it difficult to understand how something like laser energy could be shaped so perfectly into a weapon.

But with the system’s knowledge backing it, such things were clearly possible.

And that was exactly how Number One fought, he used nothing more than basic spear techniques, yet despite how simple they were, his execution made every move terrifyingly lethal.

When he thrust forward in blurry motions, spear Qi’s shot through the air, coated in laser energy, it was as though he was firing lasers shaped like spears, and anyone standing in his path was pierced instantly, dying before they even had a chance to raise a defense.

And those were just the three senior Captains, the rest of the Captains were not doing badly either, and as for the Rare-ranked golems, they had completely taken over from the Gordons mages in battling the City lord army, fighting without fear or hesitation.

Seeing their overwhelming momentum and courage, the Gordons’ mages finally snapped out of their daze, as Zack raised his weapon and led them on another charge, joining the fray.

At this point, even a soothsayer wouldn’t need divination to see how things would end, the mid-tier battlefield was already decided in favor of the Gordons.

Alec then began to rise into the air to match with the Gordons Elders, and moving along with him were his three Tier 7 golems, his intentions were crystal clear.

He was about to restart the high-rank battle, this time with himself and his golems personally involved.

“Old man, what do you say? Let’s deal with these intruders,” Alec said, already channeling the power of his Eclipse Fenwolf.

“Yes, mages of the Gordons clan. Show them no mercy,” the Patriarch replied, while pushing aside his shock and all the questions he had for his grandson.

He believed that those could wait, right now, what mattered to him was ending the crisis threatening his clan, even though he still couldn’t understand how Alec’s golems had become this strong, one thing was certain to him.

For the first time since the battle began, the Gordons Clan truly had a fighting chance.
