Chapter 1058: Sets 2.

Seeing him dash so recklessly toward the three puppets without any hint of caution made many spectators uneasy.

However the flaming mage puppet was the one to react first, by dashing forward and thrusting out its left hand forward, and from seemingly nowhere, flaming lances formed as it manipulated the fire particles in the air to conjure them.

With a sharp motion, the lances shot toward the Water Takeda, however; he just weaved through them like a blue phantom, each near miss leaving a faint azure glow in his wake.

Within moments, he was already in front of the flaming puppet.

“Die!” the flaming puppet mage said in a flat, emotionless tone, showing that clearly its only objective was the elimination of the Water Takeda.

His blade wrapped in a blazing aura, swung down in a diagonal motion, the crowd gasped as his strike appeared to connect, but a split second later, they noticed a blue streak sliding past the puppet.

It almost looked as if the Water Takeda had phased through the puppet, but that wasn’t the case, because before the strike had landed, he had already cast the Ice Body Clone spell, so what the flaming puppet had cut was merely an ice replica, which was perfectly positioned to take the hit.

With his spirit equipment set equipped and active, Water Takedas’s speed and strength didn’t just increase significantly, more importantly, it seems to have helped neutralize one of his biggest weaknesses, which was the interference of Ice.

While clad in that set, he could control ice element but that wasn’t all , as he could also instantly convert it to water, freely switching between the primary and sub-elements as needed.

The spectators watched as the blur they’d been tracking began to stabilise, for a moment it resembled flowing liquid, then it solidified, revealing the Water Takeda once again.

Who had used his ninjutsu technique to switch positions, going from standing before the flaming mage puppet one moment to appearing a few meters behind it the next.

“Arrggh!” The flaming mage puppet, finally realising it had been tricked, as he tried to pull his sword free from the frozen sculpture, but that was easier said than done.

As not only was the blade firmly stuck, but frost had already begun creeping up his right hand, travelling through the sword connection.

The Water Takeda didn’t even bother turning back, from experience, he knew the spell would be able to restrain the flaming puppet for at least a minute, and to him that was more than enough time.

With the main damage dealer temporarily neutralised, he lowered his stance and accelerated forward, dashing toward the wooden spider puppet and the crocodile puppet a few meters away.

Each step he took left faint frozen footprints behind, sending the Silent Night supporters into another frenzy of cheers.

The wooden spider advanced first, swinging its two elongated wooden legs in a pincer-like motion to trap him.

But Water Takeda simply rotated his weapon, hooking the curved ends around the incoming limbs while dropping into a low slide, as he slipped cleanly beneath the spider puppet’s body.

He knew damaging that reinforced wooden frame would be difficult, so he didn’t waste effort trying.

Instead, a long icy trail formed behind him as he slid, and when he reached the underside of the puppet, he pushed off the ground and sprang upward into the air...

With him launching into the air like that with all his strength, the trailing end of the Kusarigama chain which was still latched onto the spider puppet’s front legs — tugged violently.

The force from it twisted the puppet off balance, flipping it upside down and exposing its underbelly, by the time the Water Takeda landed atop it, the chain had already slipped free from its legs.

As he immediately casted a spell by forming a hand seal which he pushed downward.

Using his legs like conduits, frost spread rapidly outward, crawling across the wooden spider puppet’s body, since outright destroying it would take too long, he chose the smarter option, which was immobilisation.

Ice layered over the puppet, stiffening its joints and sealing its movements, turning it into a massive ice sculpture.

Just then, the flaming mage puppet finally broke free, while the crocodile puppet lunged toward him as he stood on the frozen spider’s body.

The Water Takeda flicked his Kusarigama forward in a sharp motion, then tugged the midpoint of the chain to recall it in a fast move after flickering it out.

Fortunately the attack had already triggered before the weapon was recalled, as a thin wave of pale-blue energy shot outward the instant the weapon snapped forward.

The crocodile puppet opened its jaws and exhaled another burst of frost breath to counter it, but while it was occupied, the flaming mage puppet leapt high, sword raised, descending straight toward The Water Takeda.

Yet when it landed, he had struck nothing, the Water Takeda’s body dissolved into a blue afterimage, and when he reappeared, the crowd saw him standing behind the flaming mage puppet, with his chain already looped tightly around its neck, and his right knee raised and pressing at the puppets back.

The puppet reached back with its free left hand, trying to resist, but the Water Takeda released his right grip on the chain which was near the sickle which is at the end of the chain.

Then he yanked hard with his left hand, the chain snapped sideways, dragging the sickle across the puppet’s neck in a brutal arc, eventually slicing clean through.

Immediately, blood began pouring out of the neck, but he clearly wasn’t done with the puppet, now that his weapon was fully free, he gripped the Kusarigama with both hands again and kept flicking and tugging the chain, deliberately slicing through every joint of the flaming mage puppet from behind, as he wasn’t willing to take any chances.

A single cut to the neck might have been enough to disable a normal opponent, but to him what was before him is still a puppet and a weapon of Beatrice, so if she stubbornly tried to force it to keep moving manually with her mana threads, it could still pose a threat.

So he methodically severed each joint, ensuring that even manual control wouldn’t allow it to perform basic movements.

After finishing, he twisted his body, spinning the chain with him, and after two full rotations later, he came to a halt, settling into a stance, as his right hand gripped a section of the chain, using that point to guide the sickle as it flew outward.

The blade hooked cleanly into the open mouth of the crocodile puppet, which had leapt at him again, this time he yanked hard, dragging it down before slamming its body against the ground.

But he wasn’t done as he swung the chain again this time to the opposite direction— another slam.

Then again. And again. He repeated the motion about ten times until he could tell most of the creature’s bones were shattered.

With a smooth flick of his right hand while his left held the opposite end steady, he unhooked the sickle from the crocodile’s mouth.

Finally, he jumped down from the wooden spider puppet, which was still fully encased in ice.

The prolonged contact of his leg on the puppet while channeling frost through his feet had ensured the freezing held firm.

Keeping the spider immobilized had been deliberate , as he believed it was the most troublesome of the three and could easily interfere with his plan to eliminate the others.
