“If you keep using moves like that, I’ll only last about three minutes, right now, five minutes is my absolute limit,” Beatrice complained, clearly unhappy that he had fired that poison beam at the Earth Takeda when other methods would have sufficed. While she was busy scolding him, the Wind Takeda was already manipulating the air currents to stabilize the Water Takeda in air, who still seemed to be in pain.
“I have to admit, I never expected someone like you to push me this far. But clearly, I can’t keep fighting you this way,” the Wind Takeda said as he descended, deliberately creating distance between them.
“Then come at me!” Patches replied, swinging his sword, as a massive crescent arc of Qi burst from the blade and shot toward the Wind Takeda.
Yet unlike earlier, his expression remained calm, almost resolved.
“For this battle... I accept it as my loss, even if I end up winning it.” Wind Takeda said while staring straight at Beatrice, clearly she had been able to make him show more than he would have wanted.
[> High Tier Spell – Wind Gate. <]
The Wind Takeda immediately cast the high-tier spell, as his face instantly turned pale from the strain, but once the gate fully formed behind him, his complexion improved slightly.
The top-tier mages watching understood why they could see the not so invisible streams of Mana consumption; he had somehow distributed among his other bodies, as some of that even went into the summoned gate, with five peak Tier 6 mages taking the consumption it is clear they could cast more than one High rank spell.
However; he wasn’t done, as the Water Takeda landed beside him, still wincing from the damage to his leg, and together they began forming hand seals that many couldn’t tell what it represented.
By now the entire crowd was focused on the two Takedas, eager to see what their final move would be, many spectators were already speculating that the Wind Gate meant WInd Takeda intended to summon the remaining Takeda bodies, after all he already said he lost the battle so they were all trying to read meaning to his words.
After all, they felt if two couldn’t secure victory, then four might, especially when they were also considering the fact that Beatrice’s mana was running dry fast.
To most observers, they were starting to feel that it was beginning to look less like a duel and it would likely end as a battle of endurance.
However, while people were busy speculating about what the Takedas might do next, no one expected what followed, because from the very start, Takeda’s objective had been simple, force an early surrender, or, once forced with no other option than to expose some moves of his, he was going to beat submission out of their opponent.
[> Innate Skill – Body Merge: Back to Four <]
By that moment, the blade of Qi had already crossed the midpoint and was closing in fast on the two remaining Takedas.
Everyone waited for new bodies to emerge from the Wind Gate, but that never happened.
Instead, the two Takeda bodies dissolved into blue-green motes of energy, far denser and more potent than ordinary mana particles, and these energy forms slammed together at tremendous speed, as flesh rapidly began reforming from the collision.
A thin mist rose around the forming figure, almost as if deliberately shielding his naked body while reconstruction continued at a fast pace.
Bang!
The sword Qi finally struck, it wasn’t a light impact, from within the mist, a crystalline-looking hand that was covered in some type of water bubble defence shot out to block the attack, however it failed to stop it completely, but rather than being blasted away as before, his feet dug into the arena floor, carving long trenches as he was pushed backward.
Up in the third VIP tier, the Northern King was grinding his teeth. Some nearby spectators assumed he was frustrated that the War God Mage Academy seemed to be performing well — after all, many knew of his dislike for them.
But they were completely mistaken. His irritation wasn’t about the academy at all — it was about the arena itself.
The fog finally cleared, revealing Takeda’s newly formed body, he stood slightly taller than before, and his ninja attire had changed completely, now trimmed with flowing blue and cyan-green hues along the edges, showing he was still in his spirit equipment set mode, and it was quite baffling when the crowd started to process the fact that the sets of both Takedas also merged to form something new.
The Kusarigama was coiled tightly around his chest, one katana rested at his waist while another remained strapped behind him, his irises revolved in a Yin-Yang pattern, one side glowing blue like water, the other cyan-green like wind.
The moment he fully materialized, the entire crowd felt the pressure shift, the aura he emitted was on par with Patches who was standing across from him.
“Hoo... Marionette Girl, I don’t think I can keep fighting without casting spells now, at least I would have to coat each of my strikes with Qi” Patches muttered, slightly tilting his head so Beatrice could hear, and understand things were no longer going to be simple.
Bang!
Without wasting a single word, the newly merged Takeda dashed forward. No grand speech. No theatrics. Just pure speed.
The spectators were stunned, as the merged version radiated the presence of a Low Tier 7 mage a she moved.
[> Mid Tier Skill – Iaido <]
In one fluid motion, he drew the katana from his left waist using his right hand and executed a diagonal upward slash, it was so fast that many mages couldn’t even tell the blade had left its sheath until they saw the reinforced wind blade that followed, amplifying the Qi.
Patches reacted instantly, swinging his own Qi-coated blade to deflect the strike, as the Blade Qi which was reinforced with the wind blade spell flew into the air until it crashed against the arena shield.
Clang!!!
Before the audience could process the exchange, Takeda was already in front of him, slashing relentlessly. Strike after strike came in rapid succession, each one aimed at breaking Patches’ balance.
Whenever Patches attempted a counterattack, Takeda simply parried and pressed forward again, maintaining the initiative and refusing to give him breathing room.
At times he even swung the Kusarigama scythe around, but when the crowd looked closely, they realized something was different, he had done something to his weapons as the chain a the end of the Kusarigama was now attached to the hilt of his katana, creating a hybrid like weapon.
As the fight dragged on, he began casting spells they had never seen him use before, and those spells looked more like the combinations of both wind and water elements.
Storm bursts which flew more like water bombs compressed with wind elements , aqua gusts, which were blade-like water currents formed through the idea of the wind manipulation of wind blade spell as even the execution was the same way.
Patches responded in kind, casting earth spikes and poison beams as the two clashed fiercely across the battlefield. Despite the intensity, both fighters wore faint smiles, clearly enjoying the challenge.
But about three minutes later, Patches’ aura suddenly faded, as Beatrice fainted.
With her unconscious, the mana flow sustaining him vanished, turning his body stiffened, and his strength dropping sharply until he could only use his muscle strength, and before long, he was overwhelmed and defeated.
