The moment Orga saw that even her soldiers were not faring any better, all the resistance left in her body. By then, Vermis had already reached her, as he plunged the other blood dagger into her chest and dragged it upward, tearing a long line through her face as she died on the spot._ _
Meanwhile, Hunter had just entered the throne room, dragging his longsword behind him as he slowly made his way toward the Orc lord waiting on the throne.
“Who sent you?” the Orc lord asked.
“Well, you recently sent a couple of orcs to attack a Tier 6 human lord domain recently, well that human lord you have been trying so hard to erase from this world is my master. I hope I explained that clearly enough and didn’t confuse you instead,” Hunter replied.
“Hmmm, I see. I should have led the charge myself and uprooted that human weed with my own hands. Who would have thought he would be capable of sending his thugs to assault my kingdom? Well, it’s not too late. I will correct my mistake myself,” the Orc lord said as he finally stepped out from the dark shade of his throne, revealing his appearance for the first time.
He had a long robe covering his body, and in his left hand was a cane he used to support himself while walking. He looked quite old, but after observing him thoroughly a thought finally lit up in Hunter’s mind.
Then Hunter suddenly burst into loud laughter, his voice echoing through the hall.
“I can’t believe this. You’re an Orc Shaman. Well, if someone else had been sent here, you might have been able to land a few hits or toss them around. Unfortunately for you, I’m the one who my master had sent instead, and for that reason you have no choice but to die because you can’t do anything to me.”
The Orc lord didn’t seem to understand why Hunter would say such a thing, he simply pushed out his right hand after casting, and a massive fireball shot toward Hunter at terrifying speed.
Hunter only swung his sword, swatting the flames to the side like it was nothing, before continuing his slow walk forward, the Orc lord’s eyes trembled in surprise for a moment.
He clearly had in no way expected the golem before him to get rid of his fireball that easily. So this time, he placed both hands on his staff and began casting again, as five massive fireballs appeared above his head, floating there like miniature suns.
After creating them, he pushed out his right hand once more, and this time, the fireballs rushed forward with even greater speed than before.
Pang!
In response to the magical attack, Hunter began swinging his sword like a bat, swatting the fireballs away one after another while whirling his blade through the air, every few seconds, after he deflected another fireball, an explosion would erupt behind him, filling the throne room with bursts of flame and heat.
Yet Hunter did not flinch, neither did he tremble.
He simply kept walking forward as if the attacks meant nothing to him, though he could have directly dissolved the magical attacks, however since doing that would require him to use his energy to activate his anti-magic domain he decided it wasn’t worth it.
Instead, he merely coated his sword with his anti-magic aura and used his phyical strength to repel the spells, something that should not even have been possible.
And when the last fireball reached him, he raised his sword high, gripped the handle with both hands, and swung down, splitting the fireball cleanly in two.
By this moment, he was already standing before the Orc lord.
Though the Orc lord could still cast other spells, however while watching Hunter’s display, he had taken his time to carefully assess the golem before him, and he understood one thing, he would never be able to destroy this golem with his current magical level.
He knew very well what a “mage-killer golem” meant, though whenever it was mentioned within the circle of mages, most of them only treated it as a myth, as they felt it was something that golem-path mages created for ancient text to use and comfort their pitiful selves after their path have lost shine in recent years.
But right now, standing before him was a golem that possessed all those qualities that they used to talk about, and he was certain this was exactly what the legends referred to as a mage killer golem.
There were only two ways to defeat such a golem.
Either one had to possess overwhelming magical power strong enough to destroy it in a single move before it could resist, or one had to possess superior physical strength capable of crushing it directly.
However, he neither had the magical power to suppress the golem before him, nor the physical strength to overpower it, he was nothing but a Low Tier 8 Orc Shaman, while Hunter was a Peak Tier 7 golem.
It was only now that he understood the meaning behind Hunter’s previous words.
If someone else had been sent, he might have had a chance, but against Hunter, only death awaited him.
And that was because, to a mage-killer golem, something as small as a minor realm difference could not even be considered a true gap, especially when its opponent was a mage who followed the pure magic path.
He also lacked the strength to fight Hunter directly, he might be an orc, but he knew very well that his base strength would not do much against the monstrosity before him.
His main general, Orga, had been the one that had always acted as his shield and protector in situations like this, and the fact that she had not returned back to guard him while they were at war only made him realize that she must have already died in battle.
He just hadn’t expected that he, too, would fall here.
“I destroyed the empire I had been slowly building with a single moment of arrogance and haste.”
Those were the Orc lord’s final words before Hunter decapitated him, after he was done, Hunter turned and saw Vermis already waiting beside the city heart cube, dragging out the city lord token embedded within it.
Hunter then gently kicked the severed head toward him.
“You should take that and the token back to Master so he can confirm that we have taken over the city. I will oversee the security of this city until Master sends someone worthy to handle the management,” Hunter said as he dug his sword into the ground, placed both hands on top of the handle, and closed his eyes, looking as though he had fallen into a deep sleep.
“No problem. See you soon, senior,” Vermis said before leaving with the decapitated head and the token, on his way out, he could see Hunter’s iron knights arranging the dead bodies of the orcs together to form a mountain.
Clearly, Oni had been given a space ring to store the corpses and bring them back to the territory, hence their current behavior.
