Though it was a good thing to be exceptional, however there came a time when one became so exceptional that the only thing they created was unease, jealousy, and ill will.Well, that was exactly the situation with Alec, the human lords had created a group to discuss how they would send him a few gifts to strengthen their bonds with the new lord of the Wilderness region and to make sure that Alec would not attack them the same way he had gotten rid of the other human lord.
However, the group changed rather quickly after another group of malicious lords with their own ulterior motives entered the discussion, they were able to shift the topic from giving gifts to restraining Alec from all directions.
At first, many remained quiet because they did not want to attack a fellow human lord, though none of them had truly met the king of the Wilderness region, they still understood very well how the protocols in other regions worked.
On the contrary, the lords of other regions might even join their armies together to take down an Abyssal city lord and share the loot of his city, and no matter who ended up getting the city, that person would owe the other a debt to be paid another time by helping him or her take down another city.
But now, a few lords of the Wilderness region had actually suggested taking Alec out before he became a problem, there were two lords in particular, and both were Tier 8 lords with Level 2 cities.
These two had been planning for a long time on how they would take over the Wilderness lands, just like many lords of the wilderness region they had already begun suspecting that the king of the Wilderness was plagued by battle injuries, which was why he had not held any proper meetings with his lords, so they wanted to take this opportunity to take over all the lands under his control before he realises what they were up too.
Though they had all been recruited by the same old man, just like the other envoys, they felt that the old man who had recruited them was nothing more than the king’s butler.
And considering the state he was always in, they had started making up scenes in their heads, convincing themselves that the king was not really a big deal like the kings of the other regions.
Really, apart from Alec, there were only a few old human lords in the Wilderness who knew that the same old man was actually the true king of the Wilderness.
Since the twins had access to the virtual world, they had also learnt of the conditions required to become a human king. So when Alec, a lord whose domain was the only one capable of producing food in the whole Wilderness region, appeared, they all turned their sights on him, believing that if they ever wanted to become something greater, they had to bring that city under their control.
However, while they were preaching this, not everyone was optimistic about it. After all, they were scared of Alec’s strength to take out two cities in one day, it was precisely because of that very reason they had created the group in the first place, to come up with a way to please him and protect themselves.
Even so, there were still about three other lords who agreed to the joint attack on Alec’s domain after being enticed by the promises of the twin Tier 8 lords. They convinced themselves that it would be better to get rid of a domain that could wipe them out in an instant.
However, that was merely what they wanted to believe in order to clear their conscience for attacking another human lord unprovoked. The truth remained that greed was the only reason they agreed.
The twin lords told them that, despite being the ones who would take control of Alec’s land, everyone would receive an equal share of whatever was produced from the farmlands.
And considering the food shortage in the Wilderness region, they were instantly bought over.
The three of them even started fantasizing about what they would do with their shares and how it would alleviate the famine that had struck their cities.
This was also one of the reasons why the other lords in the Wilderness region were unable to earn faith points like Alec, despite being in the same region as him, because continued to treat their people like their slaves without even thinking of solving the issues that plagued them unlike Aec who had turn himself to a kingdom builder trying to create an ethiopia environment for his citizens.
And so, all the attacking lords gathered with their armies after a few days of planning.
“Finally, my brothers-in-arms, we meet once again for this fated battle to claim that prosperous land,” Dave, one of the twins, said with his arms spread wide.
Behind him and his brother was an army of a thousand strong men. Even their summoned units were of the same race and type.
Normally, a Level 2 lord had a summoning limit of a thousand men, so it was clear that both brothers had only brought about half of their main army, along with the heroes who would be acting as the generals.
As for the other three human lords who had joined them, they had only contributed about a thousand soldiers altogether, and their summoned soldiers were made up of different units.
They were also clearly low-rank units, ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 3.
This was unlike the twins’ army, whose soldiers consisted of mid-rank summons, ranging from Tier 4 to Tier 6, with heroes among them. On the other hand, the other three lords were clearly still just starting out.
They were all Tier 7 mages, but they still had Level 1 cities. After all, it was not that easy to obtain Origin Essence Crystals or construct faith crystals needed to upgrade their city heart level since they couldn’t conquer other cities.
Origin Essence Crystals were the currency of the Origin Realm, almost everything could be bought with Origin Essence Crystals, such as paying workers to build the exact walls projected by a City Heart.
It should be noted that every City Heart had a different city wall pattern, though at the beginning, they all started with the same basic stone walls, as time passed, they would slowly change, just like how every city lord’s domain was unique to him or her.
While Alec could use the loophole known as system points to pay for things like army barracks because his system had changed everything for him, the other lords of the Origin Realm had to pay for everything with Origin Essence Crystals.
And unlike him, who could have walls magically appear since his system seemed to possess enough authority to bypass certain processes, the other lords did not have it easy.
Their City Hearts always provided the blueprints for things like this, while the lords used the population under their command to have those structures built.
For good lords and those from well-to-do regions, they would still pay the citizens who had developed this specific profession to help their lords with such construction( in those regions there are mostly city walls since they are built down by the king of their region).
But for other lords, including some of the lords in the Wilderness region, their citizens were forced to participate in unpaid labor, because they believed that since they were lords, they also owned the lives of those under them.
If there was anyone strong enough among their citizens, they would either try to bring that person under their command or eliminate them if they felt they might become a problem later on by causing a rebellion against them.
This was why Alec seemed to have it easier than the other lords, and why he was doing far better than most of the lords who had entered the Origin Realm with him. After all, Origin Essence Crystals could only be obtained from one place.
The Blood Moon regions.
There were mines there where they could be gotten from, and sometimes Origin Essence Crystals were given as rewards, but that only started from the Tier 7 battlefield and above.
Also, from the Tier 7 leaderboard onward, the kings of every region would begin rewarding the lords who ranked higher on the leaderboard with Origin Crystals.
After all, those lords would be the ones most likely to grow into pillars of strength for them in future wars. Ranking high on the leaderboard among thousands of other lords was already proof of talent and genius.
“You all know the plan, so what do you say we move out now and wipe out his sub-lords at the border of his territory?” Daniel, the other twin, said, as the other lords all nodded in agreement.
