Soul Society Chamber of Truth"Hmmm," the old man with a dog's head slowly closed the massive tome, its
ancient pages settling with a faint weighty thud. A satisfied, almost weary smile spread across his face as he rose to his feet and called out in a low, measured voice, "Fairy, I'm finished."
Whoosh-directly before him, a fairy materialized in silence. Her face was utterly devoid of emotion, smooth and indifferent, as though carved from pure will rather than flesh. She reached out, drew the book toward herself, and began examining it with meticulous, almost frightening precision, her movements crisp and mechanical.
Only after nearly a full minute passed did the book vanish from her hands. She nodded once and spoke in a calm, neutral tone, "Request to accelerate the production of first-grade body curse-resistant pills by 5%-completed. One hundred and twenty thousand pearls will be added to your account." With those words delivered, the fairy withdrew without ceremony, her form dissolving as quietly as it had appeared.
"Heh~" the old man with the dog's head let out a weak, breathy chuckle. "Three months of toil finally bore fruit," he murmured to himself. Turning slowly, he began walking toward the wall at an unhurried pace. "Hmmm..."
The walls of the Chamber of Truth had always been covered with costly requests from every corner of the universe-requests so extravagant that, at times, they could reach into the hundreds at once...
Was that number small compared to the immeasurable scale of the cosmos? Certainly. Yet the number of forces capable of pouring tens or even hundreds of thousands of pearls into such requests was never large. Most powers preferred to seal their treasures away in heavily guarded vaults, hoarding wealth while paying little attention to advancement, research, or knowledge! Or at least, that was how all the Truth Chosen tended to see it...
At this very moment, the old man with the dog's head was staring at tens of thousands of requests at once... a sight so overwhelming that it made the walls of the narrow chamber seem as though they stretched all the way to the heavens themselves!
And it wasn't only their sheer quantity that had grown-so too had their prices. At the very top of the wall hung dozens of requests framed in gleaming gold, each one offering a reward of no less than one hundred million pearls... numbers that, in the past, had never appeared in this place at all!
And among them, three particular requests pulsed with an intensely captivating radiance... each bearing a reward of at least one billion pearls.
Whoosh-another individual materialized inside the Chamber of Truth at this moment. He summoned the fairy, handed over a request, then caught sight of the old man with the dog's head from the corner of his eye. "Hm? You're still here, old man? Haha." With a casual laugh, he began walking toward him.
"And where would I go... our work conditions has never been better," the old man with the dog's head replied calmly, continuing to study the mission wall at a slow pace, never turning around to acknowledge the newcomer.
Soon enough, however, the newcomer came fully into view... He was a soul manifestation just like the old man with the dog's head, yet his form was youthful and vigorous. He wore loose, open garments that exposed his powerful, bare chest, while his pale hair spilled messily over his face, completely obscuring his features and giving him a wild, unrestrained air. "Oop, another billion pearls worth mission showed up?" The young man craned his neck upward until it nearly gave out, then burst into laughter. "Haha, I wonder when Lord Human will finally spare them some attention. The lighting in the Chamber of Truth has grown noticeably brighter lately because of these missions."
"...Lord Human has no need for money. Every few decades, all such requests go directly to him without him having to come her personally. He clears all requests exceeding ten million pearls within two or three years at most, then disappears once again..." The old man with the dog's head shifted his focus to the lower portion of the wall, eventually spotting a mission that suited him. "The requests we receive, and the ones that catch his interest, are simply not on the same level-but even so, we should be grateful to him regardless." "Right, right," the shaggy-haired young man nodded several times in agreement, his messy hair swaying as he did. He then shifted his focus as well to the last five rows on the wall, his gaze growing intent. "Because of him, confidence returned to the Chamber of Truth, and enormous streams of money began pouring into this place again. The least five rows alone now contain more than a thousand requests- more than at any time I've witnessed throughout the past hundreds of thousands of years!"
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, a hint of admiration flashing across his face. "How I wish I could meet him and learn directly from him-or at the very least, offer him my thanks for this blessing we're all enjoying!" Then, as if suddenly remembering something important, he turned toward the old man with the dog's head. "Hey, remind me-why doesn't he come to the Chamber of Truth anymore? He's practically a hero here!"
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh
Three more shadows materialized inside the Chamber of Truth in quick succession. They submitted their completed work, exchanged brief nods with the fairy, and immediately began scanning the wall, searching eagerly for anything new or noteworthy.
The shaggy-haired young man smiled broadly when he saw them and spread his arms wide in a dramatic gesture. "Look at this-thanks to him, the number of Truth Chosen who dare to enter this place has multiplied dozens of times over. Because of his presence, because of his status, because of his unprecedented success rate, because he stood toe to toe in auctions against figures like Lord Hedrick-ah, what a truly legendary sight that was!"
"Are you talking about Lord Human?"
"Is there any new news about him?!"
The three Truth Chosen immediately stopped what they were doing the moment they heard the name of their hero. Even though they were in the concealment state they had deliberately chosen, the excitement and reverence in their voices were unmistakable, leaking through with nothing more than
their tone.
Lord Human didn't merely increase their income or restore the public's trust in the Truth Chosen-he lifted their heads high and gave them the courage to step into this place after they once feared even their own shadows... That man had openly declared that he bullied Helen, the daughter of the Behemoth of Destruction, and nothing at all happened to him as a result!
He spoke as an equal with lords and with the sons of Behemoths, clashed head-on with all of them, and emerged victorious, even seizing displacement gear in the process. Then, on that very same day, he shocked the entire era by announcing the fifth-stage Breaths Of Ages martial art- a revelation worthy of being called the surprise of the millennium.
Even now, billion pearls worthy-level requests continued to flow toward him without pause. Only Behemoths could afford numbers like those- and really, who else but them?
Requests of extreme difficulty, extreme precision, and crushing pressure... and yet, none of them ever lingered for too long.
Once Lord Human began working in earnest, he would imply wipe everything off the wall within a few months-or, at most, a few short years... During those periods when Lord Human was deeply engrossed in his work, dozens of Truth Chosen would gather here, openly betting on which request would vanish next, how much time he will take to finish it, and which one would be completed shortly afterward. They would argue and speculate endlessly about the possible methods Lord Human used to resolve supposedly impossible requests in only a handful of days!
What kind of overwhelming might was this?
Could the Truth Chosen ever reach such power? Such prestige? Such heights?
Only five had managed to do so since ancient times-and only after they had become Great Truth Chosen...
Yet Lord Human achieved all of this before ever reaching that rank. He was merely... warming the stage for what was yet to come.
To any Truth Chosen, Lord Human was a goal, a hero, a blazing sun that illuminated a path toward a destination no one had ever even known was
possible!!
"Haha, come on, come on," the shaggy-haired young man laughed, waving them
closer. "I was just asking our old colleague here why Lord Human no longer appears in the Chamber of Truth. I don't believe Lord Human is arrogant without reason-if he were, he wouldn't have chosen such a name for himself..." He slipped his hands into his pockets, leaned forward slightly, and continued in a more serious tone, "As far as I know, back then no one visited the Chamber of Truth except our friend here and the spiky-haired one... perhaps he can enlighten us."
