Editor: Misty Cloud TranslationsThe moment she arrived, she sensed the barrier array had been breached. The sound of commotion still echoed in the sky. Had someone taken advantage of her absence to launch a surprise attack on her home?
A faint curve touched her lips, and a wicked, bewitching smirk spread across her flawless face. Her voice was cool and detached, tinged with a lighthearted chuckle. "Seems we’ve returned just in time!"
"Did someone come knocking while you were gone?" Feng Ye asked excitedly, rubbing his fists together, clearly ready for a fight.
Feng Jiu shot him a sidelong glance, her expression a mix of amusement and mockery. "Itching to fight?"
"Hehe, I just want to test my skills." Feng Ye chuckled awkwardly under her gaze. Though he was her uncle, whenever he saw her, he felt like a mouse facing a cat.
Scared.
"Then stay here and practice your skills!" Feng Jiu looked at him and Zhao Yang. "You two will remain in this forest for a while. Once I’ve handled matters, I’ll arrange a place for you."
"Understood." Zhao Yang nodded in agreement.
"Huh? You’re not letting us help?" Feng Ye looked utterly aggrieved.
Feng Jiu chuckled, glancing at him. "You think you could win? Going out there would just get you beaten. Better to stay put for now!" She then turned to Du Fan and the others. "You lot, come with me to take a look!"
"Yes." The group responded, immediately following her away, leaving only Feng Ye and Zhao Yang behind in the forest.
At the mountain gate of the Immortal Island, the Fire Phoenix, leading the others, saw the three figures. A voice carrying ancient authority and laced with murderous intent erupted from its mouth: "My master didn’t come looking for you, yet you’ve come right to us!"
Just as they breached the barrier, it received a message transmitted through its master’s divine sense. Knowing its master had just returned, it felt profoundly reassured.
Feng Jiu and the others didn’t fly directly from the sky. Instead, Du Fan and the others followed behind while she went ahead. Seeing the three still standing outside the Immortal Island’s barrier, her eyes flickered as she sent a message to the Fire Phoenix.
"Fire Phoenix, draw those three inside the Immortal Island."
Hearing the voice in its mind, Fire Phoenix’s eyes darted as it formed a plan. Spotting the contract beasts like Old White guarding the mountain entrance below, and Song Mi’er’s group approaching on flying swords nearby, it turned to shout at them: "You all return first! We’ve got this covered!"
"But how can that be? With enemies approaching, I must contribute my share!" Song Mi’er protested. Spotting only three figures at the breach in the barrier, she frowned in surprise. "Only three?"
Tie Song’s expression remained far from relaxed. Studying the trio, he warned Song Mi’er, "All three are Emperor-level powerhouses. Each alone could shake the heavens and earth."
"Huh? Emperor-level? You’d never guess." Song Mi’er blinked, staring at the trio. "They don’t look nearly as formidable as our Master."
"You’re telling the truth there," Fire Phoenix shot her a glance. "If you’re not leaving, then back off. Don’t get caught in the crossfire." As soon as the words left its beak, it fixed its gaze on the trio outside the barrier. The next instant, it lunged toward them.
The three were cautious. Even after opening the breach in the barrier, they didn’t rush in immediately. Instead, they stood deep in thought, sizing up the situation.
Noticing only the contract beasts and those individuals, but no sign of Feng Jiu, they exchanged a subtle glance.
