They had breached the barrier of this Immortal Island, creating such a commotion, yet Feng Jiu still hadn’t appeared. Only these contract beasts and a handful of insignificant individuals remained here. It seemed their guess was correct.Something must have happened to Feng Jiu, or perhaps she wasn’t on this Immortal Island at all. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have remained hidden after they caused such a commotion.
As they pondered this, the Fire Phoenix charged toward them. They immediately scattered and launched a coordinated attack against the beast.
This was Feng Jiu’s life-bound contract beast. Kill it first to break Feng Jiu’s spirit!
“Whoosh!”
The Fire Phoenix let out a shrill cry, spewing a ball of flame toward them. Yet the three Great Emperors pressed their attack relentlessly, each strike fierce and precise. Even as an ancient Sacred Beast, it struggled to hold its own against the trio.
“Whoosh!”
A palm strike whistled through the air, striking the Fire Phoenix’s wing. It let out a cry, its flight path veering off course as it retreated back toward the Immortal Island, seemingly unable to withstand the assault.
“Hahahaha! Feng Jiu’s life-bound contract beast is nothing special after all!” One of the Emperors roared with laughter, his heart filled with satisfaction at the Fire Phoenix’s defeat. Seeing it flee into the Immortal Island, he immediately gathered his qi and pursued.
“This Emperor shall slay this Fire Phoenix first!” he bellowed, his figure darting in like the wind, chasing after the Fire Phoenix.
The Fire Phoenix had intended to lure all three of them in. Seeing only one had followed, it immediately called out to Old White and Cloud Devouring below: “Run!”
Old White was straightforward. Seeing the Fire Phoenix wounded, he leapt into the air and declared, “I’ll help you!”
Cloud Devouring, however, fixed its gaze on the Fire Phoenix’s wounded wing. Flames licked around the injury, obscuring its true severity, but it knew the Fire Phoenix’s combat prowess extended far beyond this.
Though somewhat perplexed, upon seeing the Fire Phoenix flee inward while bellowing at them to run, it immediately roared at the contract beasts beside it, “Run!”
Observing the scene within, the two Great Emperors outside exchanged glances. “Let’s go. We need to investigate!” With that, they entered the Immortal Island, following the contract beasts.
Yet, just as they entered and chased the contract beasts toward the palace, Feng Jiu, hidden in the shadows, gathered spirit energy in her hands. A complex seal formed in her palms, and with a clear shout, she commanded:
“Seal!”
Almost the instant Feng Jiu’s voice echoed, the three Great Emperors chasing the contract beasts toward the palace froze. As if unable to believe their eyes, they whirled around abruptly.
There, the small opening they had forced open together was closing at a visible speed. Not far away, Feng Jiu—whom they had thought had met with some misfortune—stood clad in crimson robes, busily resealing the barrier of the Immortal Island!
She intended to trap them like fish in a barrel!
“No! We’ve fallen for her trap!”
“Damn it! She intends to trap us inside!”
Shouts of alarm rang out as the expressions of the three great emperors changed. Almost instantly, they transformed into streaks of light, rushing toward the gradually closing mountain gate barrier.
They had a premonition: if they couldn’t escape now, they might well meet their end here today!
“Since you’ve come, you won’t be leaving.”
Feng Jiu’s indifferent voice carried a chill of lethal intent as it sounded out slowly. To their ears, it exploded like thunder within their hearts.
