Chapter 167: Fool me once shame on me

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

Yun Jhin continued further into the wasteland he was currently in... step by step he went through deadly situations until he reached a gigantic altar that was the supposed location of the treasure.

The air was putrid and damp and Yun Jhin could almost gag due to the smell that was in his surroundings. Here were the supposed treasures?

Yun Jhin was quite familiar with this type of setup, it was a sacrificial altar meant to boost one's cultivation.

Yun Jhin couldn't' use this altar even if he wanted to because there were no sacrifices to be made!

There were no bodies to be used nor any treasures that he could use to boost his cultivation here... did Hell fool him by feeding him fake information?

undefinedMaybe he shouldn't have rushed headlong at the first smell of treasures...

"Feeling cold feet now?"

The voice came from his left arm, it was seemingly mocking him for rushing in without any more information besides what he gleaned from Hell's surface memories.

"Since you are here why don't you remain here?"

Yun Jhin's left arm started to move by itself as somehow it glowed with a red light that was similar to the altar's color.

Yun Jhin tried to back away but before he could an intense pain came from his shoulder as his flesh and blood were basically all taken away from him only his new exoskeleton remaining on the left part of his body.

He breathed roughly as he clutched his left part of his body while applying ki to heal it and restore its former looks.

The pain that was inflicted on him continued to sting his whole left part as he recovered.

"Thought you fused with me right?"

A mouth appeared on his former left arm which smiled wickedly at him, the mouth was full of pink teeth that were sucking on the bone-less flesh and visible muscles.

Yun Jhin looked at the arm as it mocked him:

"You really thought you captured me, didn't you? As you said multiple times in your mind, I'm an old fogie and that has countless tricks while you fused with my body of light you forgot something, if you were smart you would understand what it was!"

Yun Jhin frowned, he overlooked something? He thought he made it so they were like parasitic twins but it seems he was wrong...

"Thinking how wrong you were right? Hmph, previsible even for one who had reincarnated so many times... you lived so many lives but you still act the same in all of them, only using your increased experience to reduce your former mistakes bit by bit... I can see why you have failed to break above the God Realm up till now with all your immense pool of information and techniques."

Yun Jhin took a few steps back, his new arm started to hurt again and the pain was so stabbing that he couldn't control his footing... for someone like him who endured a sea of flames and a mountain of blades, for this pain to make him stagger it showed that it was an immense amount.

"Feel the consequences of the fusion now boy?"

Yun Jhin felt as if his soul and body were both being forcefully separated from each other by some giant pliers, his soul which was properly inserted in his body was getting smaller and smaller from its huge proportion.

Froth started to appear at his mouth as he couldn't endure the pain and started to shout while clutching his head.

On the altar a change was happening to his left arm, it started to grow more flesh from it and a skeleton... slowly but surely it became a second Yun Jhin and the only difference in his looks was that his hair was fully red and his eyes were black with the red sclera. He wore nothing but out of the void, a black and red robe enveloped his body.

He looked down on Yun Jhin as if he was an ant that got in his way it seemed that all that happened up till now was previewed in Hell's plans!

"You know I realize that monologuing would be dumb at this point so I'm just going to end you, Ok?"

Hell placed his pointing finger towards Yun Jhin's head as a small line of purple energy appeared and pierced directly through it.

The line pierced Yun Jhin's brain scattering all of its contents on the ground... out of his lifeless body his soul came out and now that the connection between the two was severed he was practically 'dead' however if he didn't want to he wouldn't be taken to the spirit realm, he still had lifespan in this universe and he could live as a soul and even restore his body with enough energy unless his connection to the mortal plane would be severed ahead of time he would be sent back... After all the higher the cultivation the higher was someone to get killed by anything else besides time.

Yun Jhin's sou looked confused as the skeleton that remained in his body suddenly left it and hovered towards the new body of hell, the skeleton inserted itself in his body as his old one was discarded through his skin.

"Ah finally to be whole again... having a fleshly body feels so good!"

"As for what to do with you... I would like a backstabbing piece of crap like you as my slave but you know... when I look at your mug I don't feel really good."

It seemed Hell still felt humiliated from having his first plan foiled, the reason he even got here was that it wasn't omniscient yet, it might have power above the God Realm but it hadn't touched that realm yet and it wasn't known if it truly could or not.... after all, Hell was a being that was created by the universe, would the universe let it leave it and search for the truth outside?

Hell cracked his knuckles and neck as it approached the paralyzed form of Yun Jhin's soul... it patted its cheeks as he looked at it directly in its transparent eyes and said:

"Tell Buddha that I said hi!"

Yun Jhin couldn't believe that he had fallen for such a low-level trick... he had been the one to do this stuff on people up till now and it seems karma was finally catching up to him, no matter how fast or strong he was he couldn't be able to do anything in this situation... Hell had gained a body and it connected itself to its former quintessence thus now having the abilities of someone above the God Realm!

It seemed this was the end for Yun Jhin.

"Any last words?"

Yun Jhin soul form started to tremble as he laughed and laughed he even started holding his stomach as tears came out of his eyes.

"Finally lost your mind in the end, haven't you? It's ok as a courtesy I won't eliminate your soul and let you meet buddha for another reincarnation. Aren't I magnanimous enough?"

"You wouldn't get it."

"Excuse me?"

"You wouldn't get why I'm laughing."

"Oh please enlighten me I want to have a good laugh as well... I haven't laughed for 500,000 years."

"What do you get from crossing an unstable new body with a source of power too big for it to handle?"

"Hmm... you!!!"

Hell started to clutch his body he could feel it inflating at high speeds due to the energy current that was going through it, even with the exoskeleton he specifically crafted for this situation he didn't take into the calculation that his flesh wouldn't be able to handle the influx of energy from his energy source.

"I... how did you know about this?"

"It seems I'm not the only one who hasn't done his homework am I?"

Hell clutched his inflating body but he shook his head as he laughed as well while looking at Yun Jhin:

"Think you can escape now? Even if my body explodes, my normal light form can still take care of you easily now that I don't need your body anymore!"

"That's true, but do you know about this?"

Yun Jhin's soul started to grow smaller and smaller up to the point that Hell couldn't see it anymore... did he self destruct?

Hell frowned as he tried to sense his soul only to find that nothing remained around... even Yun Jhin's remaining flesh and blood on the ground dissipated into dust that the ground 'ate'.

Hell discarded its new body as it left the shell fall to the ground, the skeleton remained on its feet while the flesh transformed into ashes after it imploded from the immense energy that was transferred into it...

He didn't take into the calculation that as a new body is reconstructed one body refinement would be reset thus his body wouldn't be able to endure the forceful increase in cultivation, this led to Yun Jhin escaping barely... if Hell didn't bother to ask him for that joke he would be dead and he wouldn't come back!
