Chapter 1739 The Strongest Alphas

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Out of the two groups the first to speak about what had happened was Gary and the other two. They had talked about how when they had vanished they had gone into a completely different world, a world that was the past of their current time. At first when they began explaining it, even saying the words out loud sounded strange to their own ears, but the more they described it, the more real it felt once again.

They explained in detail everything they had gone through, the trials, the quests they had gotten and meeting with the two packs. They spoke about how at first nothing made sense, how they were thrown into a situation that felt like a memory yet was happening in real time. They described the weight of the responsibility they had felt, knowing that the world they were in was tied to their own future, that the choices made there could affect everything.

How things went from one event to another, and finally them witnessing what had defeated Unzoku. The moment had been burned into their memories. Seeing it with their own eyes had changed something inside of them. It wasn’t just stories or legends passed down through generations. It was proof. Proof that Unzoku could be stopped. Proof that the impossible wasn’t truly impossible.

Them learning about the past of the Werewolves and where the curse had originated from for them. The truth behind it had shaken them. For so long they had lived with the power, the transformations, the instincts, but never truly knowing how it all began. To finally see the source, to understand the burden their ancestors carried, it gave everything more meaning.

Lastly they had even talked about the last night, and what they had to go through in order to stop it. That final struggle, where everything felt like it was on the brink of collapse. The exhaustion. The desperation. The feeling that if they failed there would be no second chance. They didn’t hold back when describing it. Every hit, every decision, every sacrifice that had to be made.

They explained to them that everything felt real, it truly was a real world, and the fact that they are back here now, and could tell that their experience carried over, it was hard to see it as any other way. The strength they had gained, the changes they felt within themselves, even Lupus no longer being trapped in that crazed Alpha state, it all pointed to one thing. It hadn’t been some illusion or dream. It had been real.

Lastly, they had explained that the thing that had done it all was the medallion. The risk of Jack, a past ancestor of theirs, that had done everything, to set it up so they could learn, that the Alphas didn’t need to fight against each other. The medallion hadn’t just been a relic. It had been a lesson. A message left behind through time itself.

They just needed to get rid of the problem which was Unzoku himself.

“That’s crazy!” Tom said. “Now I know what you meant when you said, I was the reason for it all…but it kind of worked out in the end right? I mean, otherwise Lupus would have still been stuck in his crazed Alpha state, and would have still been under the influence of Unzoku.”

That was something that Lupus hadn’t quite figured out himself either. Why was he alright now? Was it because he had been effected partly by the powers of the medallion when they went to the other world. He had been in his True Alpha form for so long, unable to break free, consumed by instinct and rage. Yet now that weight was gone.

The urge was quieter. The madness had loosened its grip. Whether it was the medallion or something deeper, he could not deny that something had changed within him.

After asking for more details and what they went through it was time for the other two groups to talk. Marcus and Xin along with the vampires they had come across had gone first.

“The strangest thing about it all Gary, was that they knew you guys were missing.” Xin said.

Her tone was serious. This wasn’t just coincidence. It meant someone was watching. It meant information was spreading faster than they thought.

“No doubt that they have some type of network within Slough to know the truth.” Lupus said. “And they can always just use their powers to ask someone who’s gone out of Slough if they have heard anything. Honestly what I am surprised about, is although they attacked the Dark Guild, that they hadn’t attacked you during that time.”

If Lupus didn’t know the reason for that, then the others wouldn’t know any better either. It was something to note though in the back of their mind. Maybe if the Howlers seemed too weak the vampires would strike as well. Maybe they were waiting. Watching. Measuring their strength before making a move.

Then it was time for Marie and her group to tell them what they had come across.

“I’ve never heard of such Werewolves before.” Lupus said. “For someone, or something to create something like that, there is no doubt that it’s Unzoku’s doing.”

The image of the twisted, stretched creatures lingered in everyone’s mind. They weren’t natural. They weren’t part of any known pack. They carried the scent of Werewolves, yet something about them was wrong.

“That’s what we thought as well.” Innu said. “But the question is why, is he planning to attack with them? Is he building up their strength.”

“That can be one of the reasons.” Kai answered. “The truth is though, if you found them doing as they wish in not just one city but several others he might be stirring up something else as well. If he can’t get the two Alphas to fight together, then maybe he’s trying to start a war between the vampires and us, pin the blame on us. Wasn’t Unzoku in the past working with the vampires, he could be doing the same again. Whether they know it’s him or not it will have the same effect.”

Learning of this, the chance was that their enemy might not just be Unzoku, but Unzoku and the vampires together, and that was extremely fearful thought. Fighting one threat was already difficult. Fighting two at the same time, especially if one manipulated the other from the shadows, would stretch them thin.

“Let’s try and connect with all of our allies around the country.” Kai said. “We need to see if there is some type of pattern among these Werewolves. Get in contact with Midwak as well, and see if he’s spotted anything, there might be some type of pattern and we can find Unzoku.”

The three had only been back for a short while, but they were already busy. There was no time to rest. No time to enjoy being reunited. The moment they returned, the weight of leadership had fallen back onto their shoulders.

“I will head back to Ruin city.” Lupus stated. “I will not turn the other members back. I believe that in order to work together there needs to be unity. Although my will is strong and I am able to suppress my urge to fight against you, I can’t say the same for everyone in the pack. The power of both of our packs might be needed for the enemy we face. So I will head back to Ruin city and explain to the others. I will rebuild what was destroyed as well, and build a rather large forge.”

The words carried purpose. Ruin city had been through enough. If they were to stand together, it had to be built on something solid.

“Wait…your building a forge? Right, you said that in the past you learnt how to forge weapons and armour right?” Marcus said with a smile on his face. “We have some high level beast crystals that we didn’t know what to do with, maybe you could find some use for them.”

Lupus smiled in response, things were lining up rather well. Strength wasn’t just about physical power. It was preparation. It was equipping themselves for what was coming.

“While I am gone we will stay in contact, and I won’t waste any time. I will try my best to create something for the three of us to use, so we will prepare for the worst. And I will make sure, that us three Alphas, are the strongest we have ever been.” Lupus claimed.
