Chapter 1832 True Alpha Forms

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The arrival of the two Luna Wolves marked a critical turning point in the battle. Their presence signaled that it was finally time to resort to one of the most dangerous double-edged swords in their arsenal, a power they had been desperately keeping at bay until there was no other choice: their True Alpha forms.

Gary had been mentally weighing the risks for what felt like hours. He debated whether it would be more catastrophic to activate the soul-draining special skill of the Warhammer or to surrender his mind to the True Alpha state.

Ultimately, he knew the transformation was the superior tactical choice. Unlike the hammer, which would indiscriminately weaken every ally on the field, the True Alpha form could be managed. They had Xin and Marie by their sides, the only ones capable of providing the emotional and mystical anchor needed to pull them back if they descended too far into feral madness.

“Let’s do this!” Gary shouted, his voice gravelly with intent. He stood tall and reached out to grab Xin’s hand at the exact same moment Kai reached for Marie’s.

The reaction was instantaneous. A violent, atmospheric change began to ripple through all four of them. Xin and Marie’s bodies began to crackle and pulse with an ethereal light, as if the concentrated essence of the moon was pouring directly through their skin. Ancient runes carved themselves into their glowing flesh, shimmering with brilliant, celestial symbols that defied human language.

As an ethereal, translucent armor materialized over the Lunas, their power began to flow like liquid silver. Beside them, the two Alphas underwent a transformation that differed greatly in both appearance and aura.

Kai’s body dropped back onto all fours, but he was no longer a standard wolf. His frame expanded with a terrifying grinding of bone, growing until he reached the size of a large SUV. The grey of his fur shifted, turning a frosty, crystalline white in jagged patches. Interestingly, even in this Apex form, the weapons Lupus had forged adapted alongside him, growing in scale to match his massive new dimensions.

Then, there was Gary.

[Nocturne Apex Form Activated]

Gary’s body began to swell with a grotesque, muscular density. His fur darkened into a void-like black, a shade so deep it seemed to swallow what little ambient light remained in the theme park. A thick, dark mist coiled and wrapped around him like a living cloak, pulsing in perfect synchronization with his heavy heartbeat. Through the shroud of darkness, streaks of molten orange began to bleed through his fur, cracks of living lava throbbing through his veins. In the center of his chest, a core glowed with the intensity of an infernal furnace.

Standing side by side, these four magnificent, terrifying creatures looked like beings born from a nightmare of flame and silver. Marie and Xin stood positioned between the two behemoths, acting as the steady heart of the storm. The question remained: in this state, would the Alphas attack the first thing they saw? Would they turn on each other? Or would they even dare to strike the Lunas?

The answer came as a primal instinct kicked in. Gary and Kai began to run side by side, a terrifying display of synchronized power. Gary dug his massive claws into the concrete and leaped into the air, a trail of Shadow Ash flames erupting behind him like a jet engine. Simultaneously, Kai tore across the ground, leaving a path of jagged permafrost in his wake. The two Lunas followed close behind, though even with their empowered states, they struggled to keep pace with the raw velocity of the Apex wolves.

“It’s best we don't get directly involved in the exchange!” Xin shouted to Marie. “Our primary role is to bring them back when the window opens. If we get injured trying to trade blows with Unzoku, we won't be able to perform the ritual. Stay close, but keep your distance!”

Marie nodded, her eyes fixed on the devastation ahead.

Unzoku, who was still frantically consuming Gluttons to fuel his recovery, felt the crushing presence of the two Alphas closing in. Before he could even brace himself, Gary descended from the sky. He swung both massive arms downward, his fists crashing into the top of Unzoku’s head like falling boulders.

A massive explosion of orange flames erupted in all directions, and the ground disintegrated beneath Unzoku’s feet. He managed to stay upright, absorbing the titanic blow through sheer force of will, but he was wide open. Kai capitalized instantly, crashing his massive snout directly into Unzoku’s midsection. His armored horn connected with a sickening crunch, and a beam of concentrated white energy erupted from the tip, blasting Unzoku backward. The progenitor was sent flying, crashing through the structural supports of the Haunted House.

However, the danger of the Apex form manifested immediately after. Rather than following up on Unzoku, Gary’s feral mind snapped. He reached out, grabbed Kai by his massive, bushy tail, and swung the silver wolf through the air, slamming him into the floor with a bone-shaking thud.

“Damn it!” Xin hissed, her brow furrowing. “This is exactly what I was worried about.”

She rushed in, delivering a precise, light-infused punch across Gary’s snout. From their previous experiences, she knew that although the Apex form was crazed and would even snap at the Lunas, there was still a shred of recognition that kept the Alphas from using their lethal force against them.

As Xin stood before the snarling Gary, wondering if he would retaliate, Kai’s wolf form lunged from the side, striking Gary’s flank. Gary raised a massive, mist-shrouded arm to block the strike, Kai’s teeth sinking into his armored skin. Kai was far from weak; with his shapeshifter class, he was siphoning power from every werewolf in the vicinity, including the hundreds of Gluttons nearby.

The chaos intensified when a large, wrecked vehicle, previously owned by a Howler, was hurled into the center of their scuffle. It did little damage to the monsters, but the impact forced them to shift their focus back toward the Haunted House.

“We just have to stop them from tearing each other apart and keep them directed at Unzoku!” Marie cried out.

The two Lunas moved with practiced grace, redirecting the Alphas' aggression. After being jolted by the car, Gary’s attention snapped back to the ruins of the attraction. He leaped into the air once more, his entire body igniting into a miniature sun. He came down like a comet, crashing into the Haunted House and causing the entire building to crumble into a pile of splinters and dust.

As the debris settled, Unzoku could be seen standing amidst the wreckage. One of his arms hung at a grotesque angle, heavily damaged and deformed by the combined assault.

“Haha...” Unzoku laughed, a dark, wheezing sound. “Do you know why your bodies take on those hideous forms? It is because your Werewolf side is fundamentally weak. You allowed the power of other creatures, nightmares and elements, to influence your transformation. And now you think you can use that diluted power to face me? Do you think I have lived this long without ever facing powerful beasts like you have?”

Unzoku’s muscles began to rumble and twitch as he forced his mangled arm to knit back together. He began to gather every remaining scrap of his red aura, condensing the mist into his palm. With a roar of agony, he plunged his claws into his own chest, digging through the skin and shattering the ice that held the medallion in place.

In one violent movement, he ripped the ancient artifact out of his chest. His face was a mask of excruciating pain, but his eyes were filled with a terrifying resolve. He tightened his grip, and before Gary or Kai could react, the medallion crumbled into dust, turning into nothing more than gray ash in the wind.
