More and more border guards appeared after the first one was dead.They were all fodder. They are on the same level as Sam and they were placed there because of two reasons.
One is that they didn’t want to show any hostility towards Sam or his group. If they placed much stronger guards and they did something stupid, like trespassing into Sam’s territory, it would seem too hostile or an action with ulterior motives.
But weaker ones and younger ones... they can brush it off with some compensation and explanation.
And another thing is a symbol.
They didn’t want to leave the border completely empty without any guard. They just needed to project the intent that they do care about the others not trespassing.
At least that is what the Genius elders of the Saxons thought.
Right now, however, all the guards realized how stupid it actually is. Sam just moved past them without concern. When one of them threw a spear at Sam, he just swung the small knife in his hand. The spear was brushed aside.
The same went for a lightning bolt, a flame attack... Sam was so nonchalant. He didn’t even show any guard when they came too close to him.
He just used his one arm, blocked their attacks and cut them off.
They just died helplessly.
But even more tragic was the fate of the remaining guards...

Mia was just levitating right behind Sam, covering his rear. When some guards who didn’t die immediately tried something, they were drowned in a cloud of poison that melted their flesh away.
Dia took them one at a time. Whenever someone ran towards Sam... she just intercepted them. She leapt them, caught them in a gravity lock, caught ahold of their neck and ripped their heads, along with their spines off their bodies.
The shadow mice are everywhere. They took away, every corpse that was remotely intact and they helped the rest of the beasts.
The managers and even the trio just stayed put. The trio in particular knew that the beasts were pissed. Probably as much as Sam or even more.
And they knew better than to take their share away. They just stayed put.
Soon, the whole gang reached the settlement. There were some recently built walls with a bunch of runes, being maintained by some Initial stage pretranscendent cultivators. Most of them are on initial and middle stage.
There are few Transcendent stage cultivators and only three consummate cultivators.
They all sensed Sam was coming and when they realized that he was killing them, as soon as they were within the predetermined attack range, they made a move.
Pre-transcendent stage cultivators started moving.
Sam finally did something other than use the knife. Earth energy and shadow energy raged in the surroundings. He trapped eight initiation guards, with earthen spikes that came out of the ground. Shadow energy surged through them, creating an energy of shadow storm.
Three pre-transcendent stage guards came as the first striking party.
"Mr. Sam. What is the meaning of this? Are you trying to invade our territory? You know it is fair game for us to attack if you are doing that, right?"
Sam didn’t speak. He just looked at the coldly.
As they moved to attack, three shadows emerged out of the formation discs. All three shadows of the pre-transcendent creatures of the same level and all three controlled by Sam.
The three shadow creatures lunged at the incoming people and the battle began. Sam just stayed there standing up in the middle of the shadow domain that he created.
When the guards at the wall saw this, they deployed more. They deployed ranged attacks at Sam. But more shadows appeared around him, absorbing the blows.
At that moment, a watch appeared on Sam’s wrist that connected to the watches of the rest of the team. He didn’t ask them or tell them to intervene. He just borrowed their mental strength and deployed more shadows.
Almost all the pre-transcendent stage cultivators that came at him were tagged by at least one shadow.
And Sam controlled all the shadows at the same time, battling at multiple fronts.
When the other party is not charging blindly, Sam finally started moving. The earthen spikes and the formation made by it, were also moving along with him. He inched closer and closer to the wall.
