Chapter 4031: Breathing

The robed figures eyes shone brighter, until it released two beams of light that fell from above. One shattered a beam of light that Aurora had released, while the other shot at Shan Gu.

The old mans face turned pale. The gap was too wide. While both cards were seven-star Primeval cards, Aurora and Emperors Gaze were not at all on the same level. On top of that, Emperors Gaze was only one of the cards.

At that moment, lightning roared up from below and slammed into the beam of light.

There was a loud impact, and Shan Gu was swept away. He coughed up blood as he staggered back.

Shan Xiaos brows shot up, and she looked over in a different direction. Jiang Feng was standing there, holding his sword while staring at her.

The moment she saw Jiang Feng, Shan Xiaos expression changed. This aura?

I am your opponent. Jiang Feng stepped forward. Facing the towering figure, he struck at it with a slash of his sword.

Two more beams of light shot straight at Jiang Feng.

Earlier in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, a single beam of light had shattered one of Xing Fans bodies and grievously wounded Everchange Valleys guardians, Azuo and Ayou. Both guardians had accepted a Seed Transfusion to become peak Dukkhans.

Even so, the two beams of light were overpowered by a single sword strike. The slash contained a force that seemed to swallow the universe. It felt like an unstoppable torrent that could slice through everything.

Shan Xiao put away the Emperors Gaze card while turning to retreat. At the same time, she lashed out with the power of the Third Rampart. The Rampart was torn open by a single slash of the sword, and lightning rumbled through the void towards her.

Shan Xiao instantly vanished. The lightning exploded where she had just been, ripping through the swarm of insects.

Jiang Feng frowned. Gone?

No. He tilted his head as Luo Chan swept by, the bug staring at Jiang Feng in shock. He saw through me?

Far away, in the Aevum Inch, Lu Yin let out a pent up breath. He had not put a karmic wall around Jiang Feng, not because he did not want to, but rather because he was not able to.

He did not know why, but he simply could not place a karmic wall around Jiang Feng.

In the previous instant, when Luo Chan had taken Shan Xiao away while attempting to ambush Jiang Feng, the man had narrowly evaded the attack.

Luo Chan vanished again, and as the bug left, it flashed by Jiang Fengs hand and tried to take his sword.

Jiang Fengs brow furrowed, and he reversed the blade while slashing to the side. There was a snap, and Luo Chan was swatted away.

Far away, Shan Xiao was astonished by the exchange. How can this be? How can this man actually see through Luo Chans movements?

When the Nest civilization had fought against the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Luo Chan had been suppressed by Greater Sancte Awe Gate. Within a certain range, the Immortal was able to open up her gates freely, and she had relentlessly tracked Luo Chan. Combined with the Great Masters methods, Luo Chan had not been able to fully take advantage of its ability.

In the Tianyuan, Jiang Feng was simply seeing through Luo Chans movements.

The bug refused to accept the situation and continued its attempts to ambush the man.

Again and again, Jiang Feng avoided all of the attacks, and he even counterattacked. He was always just a fraction of a moment too late, but even so, Luo Chan had grown very wary of the man.

Jiang Feng stood his ground in outer space. Sometimes he attacked, and at other times, he remained still.

While nothing could be seen around him, he was in the most dangerous battlefield of all.

Luo Chan had become certain that Jiang Feng could see through its teleportation, despite clearly not being an Immortal.

In the Aevum Inch, the droplet-shaped creature had not yet made a move, though its eyes were fixed upon Jiang Feng.

The man truly did give off the feeling of being someone infinitely close to the Immortal level. The human had taken some sort of shortcut, but he had already overcome the greatest obstacle and was capable of becoming an Immortal. He could not be allowed to live, or else this megaverse would become practically impossible to destroy.

Shan Xiao, kill him.

Shan Xiao acknowledged her orders and looked back at where Jiang Feng was being kept occupied by Luo Chan. She raised Emperors Gaze with her left hand, while her right hand held another card: Emperor's Reversal.

The two emperor cards were the only pair of original seven-star Primeval cards that had belonged to the Third Rampart. They had once been wielded by Di Xia himself, and after his death, they had fallen into Shan Xiaos hands.

To kill Jiang Feng, she needed to go all out.

Jiang Fengs eyes locked onto Shan Xiao as he was struck by a sudden sense of unease. Was this bug really giving him this kind of feeling?

Luo Chans teleportation was difficult to deal with, but Jiang Feng was able to track it. At the very least, he was confident that the bug could not harm him.

Lord Jiang, be careful of Shan Xiao. She is holding two seven-star Primeval cards that can be united: Emperors Gaze and Emperor's Reversal. Together, they are strong enough to fight against an Immortal.

At that moment, two figures suddenly appeared, and they attacked Shan Xiao from both sides. One was Kong Tianzhao, whose sequence particles spread out while the man used an invincible sword technique. The other was Bai Qing. Like a dead tree revived, she gave off a fathomless feeling.

Both were clad in white, and they struck down like two rays of white light.

Shan Xiao sneered. Mere sequence powerhouse ants dare to oppose me?

She simply ignored the two assailants while releasing the power of the Third Rampart to both sides.

Directly behind her, a figure emerged from the darkness, a fist upraised and ready to strike. It was Ancient God.

His body was shrouded with a black and gray energy: Wielder - Indestructible. He also used his sequence particles to endlessly enhance his strength, and there were purplish black wings on his back. While Kong Tianzhao and Bai Qing drew Shan Xiaos attention, Ancient God threw a punch.

The punch struck the power of the Third Rampart, stopping some distance away from Shan Xiao.

Shan Xiao merely glanced backwards. Did you really think some ants could harm me?

As an Insect Lord, a being who had reached the pinnacle of power beneath the Immortal realm, she stood far above Ortusers, and even above peak Dukkhans.

One time, the High Seraph had traveled to the Tianyuan alone, and he had succeeded in destroying the Immemorial Citadel and slaughtering the Heavens Sects top powerhouses. No one had been able to stand against him. However, it would be difficult even for him to subdue Shan Xiao.

Ancient God stared on in shock. They were still far too weak.

He could easily handle a powerful Dukkhan like Emperor Slayer, but Shan Xiao was on a completely different lvel.

At this moment, Shan Xiao found the Tianyuan to be a strange place. The difference in the inhabitants strength was far too vast. There was someone like Jiang Feng, who was able to suppress even her, but most of the people present were barely average. He raised his sword, the blade vibrating in a manner that caused the void to shudder. The trembling spread out, and with a sweeping slash, he cut through the two beams and swatted Luo Chan away again.

The attack targeted a vast region, which restricted Jiang Feng from launching it earlier due to the great number of human cultivators nearby. However, all of them had retreated when Kong Tianzhao and the others had pressed forward.

They had not only attracted Shan Xiaos attention, but they had also cleared the field for Jiang Feng.

They understood the Lord of Lightning all too well.

Unfortunately, the others were simply too weak compared to Shan Xiao.

Shan Xiao did not care that the two beams had been cut apart. Her expression grew solemn. Emperors Reversal! All that stands above me shall be overturned.

As her voice rang out, Jiang Feng felt the universe spin. It was as though his body had been inverted or overturned, and it was completely outside of his control.

At that same moment, Luo Chan attacked. However, Jiang Feng simply closed his eyes and slashed to the right. His left hand reached out and almost caught Luo Chan.

The bug was badly shaken. How could its movements still be seen through, even after Reversal?

This reversal was not as simple as inverting ones vision. It overturned all human perception, everything one saw became its opposite, creating a momentary lag. That fleeting instant was all Luo Chan needed.

When used in tandem with Luo Chan, this move had never failed before.

It was beyond unexpected that Jiang Feng had managed to see through everything and even nearly catch Luo Chan.

From the Aevum Inch, the droplet-shaped creature watched intently. The sensation that this human was nearing the Immortal realm grew ever stronger. Though he had yet to reach that level, he already possessed an Immortals senses, and also an Immortals will.

Senses and will might seem irrelevant to combat power, but that was merely the understanding of ordinary beings.

Upon reaching the Immortal realm, life ceased to be mere life; it became a universe unto itself. Perception, existence, and everything within.

Within that all-encompassing whole, anything could become an enemy.

Such was the might of the Immortals, yet it was also the very gap through which those beneath them could break through.

In some regards, the human had already reached the Immortal realm.

He had completed a transformation, and Luo Chan could not touch Jiang Feng.

Luo Chan, go kill the others.

Yes, Master.

Luo Chan left. It would not reveal what it understood to Jiang Feng, who remained on guard.

Shan Xiao fused the two cards into one. Her entire being radiated a noble, untouchable majesty, as though she alone reigned over heaven and earth. Her form merged with the towering figure above as she lifted her hand toward Jiang Feng.

Emperor of All Heaven and Earth.

The Tianyuan seemed to be held within her hand. Countless eyes turned to look at the towering form whose size surpassed human imagination.

Even the super giants that some people had seen before could not compare.

A single hand seemed to overshadow everyone. It was as if the sky was collapsing.

Far away, Shan Gus eyes turned bloodshot. Emperor... Emperor...

That was the emperor of the Third Rampart, one who had once been capable of stepping into the Immortal realm, yet had been slain by the Nest civilization.

Shan Gu was seeing Di Xia once more, but his cards were now wielded by that traitor.

O Emperor, if your spirit still lingers in the afterlife, strike down that betrayer!

Jiang Feng looked up at the colossal hand descending upon him, vast enough to seize the universe itself. Shan Gu had already warned him that this technique treated all of heaven and earth as a mere square inch. It was a method belonging to the Immortal realm, yet it had been drawn forth through a card, the ultimate technique of the Third Ramparts Emperor, Di Xia.

That emperor had been capable of contending against an Immortal.

And only an Immortal could have slain him.

An Immortal, then?

Jiang Feng closed his eyes again. He slowed his breathing and emptied his mind of all thoughts.

There was nothing. He returned to the time when he had known only darkness. He saw nothing, heard nothing. There was only breathing: breath, breath, breath.

Every person and creature in the universe appeared like flames in the mans mind.

He stepped forward, his sword rising and then thrusting forward.

There was a soft snap, and Jiang Feng opened his eyes. In front of him was Shan Xiao. The enormous hand was behind her, and the tip of Jiang Fengs sword was less than a centimeter from her forehead. He had almost stabbed through her.

Shan Xiao stared at the blade, stunned. She followed the length of the sword with her eyes to stare at Jiang Feng and his cold eyes.

So close. She had almost died.

How can this be?

At the very tip of the sword sat a drop of water. Jiang Feng turned to look into the Aevum Inch at the droplet-shaped creature.

Thats it. The Immortal has finally intervened.

The towering image slowly dissolved. Luo Chan swept by, taking Shan Xiao away. Jiang Feng did not stop the bugs. He was not able to do so, as his blade was still caught by the drop of water. That droplet was no ordinary water, and it seemed to contain something more.

It gave Jiang Feng the same sensation that he had once felt from Master Qing Cao.

Is this a power unique to Immortals?

The droplet creature entered the Tianyuan and stared at Jiang Feng from across a great distance. Human, you surprised me. I did not expect someone so strong to be in this megaverse.

Jiang Feng calmly replied, I am also surprised. You are an Immortal.

Are you concerned with my appearance?

If you had been more impressive looking, I might have been more wary of you.
