Chang Shi jolted, stared blankly up into the sky, and then looked around in all directions. Where was that voice coming from?
“Stop.”
“Yes, I’ve already stopped.” Chang Shi felt ready to cry. He had never heard of anything like this ever happening in the Sight Realm. Isn’t this just supposed to just be about absorbing sight power? Keep your distance, don’t interfere with each other, finish absorbing, and then leave. It’s as simple as that! Why is this time so different?
There had also been that earlier incident in the vine-climbing contest; when Chang Shi’s uncles had climbed it, nobody had ever forced them to participate.
It seemed that all the rotten luck had landed on him.
“I will now give you a test. Pass, and you can continue absorbing sight power. Fail…”
Chang Shi’s heart leapt into his throat. Fail?
“And you’ll be expelled.”
Chang Shi’s mouth dropped open. He felt inexplicably happy. Just expelled? Great!
Then he could go home. He had no desire to cultivate ever again. Being an ordinary person sounded pretty good.
There was no way he could pass any test. He had zero confidence. Whatever, bring it on!
“The test begins. First question: how many levels are there to Divine Sight?”
Chang Shi instinctively wanted to answer three, but then he considered the question more carefully. Since this was a test, the answer should not be so simple, right?
Recalling something he had once heard from a storyteller, he replied, “Four.”
Lu Yin arched a brow. This kid also says four.
“What are they, in order?”
“First Level: Pressure Over All Living Beings.”
“Second Level: Manifestation Beyond the Pupil.”
“Third Level: Absolute Supremacy.”
“Fourth Level: One Hand Over the Heavens.”
Lu Yin was taken aback. Absolute Supremacy? One Hand Over the Heavens? Who named these levels? They are far more arrogant than anything the Origin Progenitor ever named. Isn’t it a bit much?
“Explain in detail.”
“Yes. The first level relies on pressure to suppress all living beings. That pressure comes from sight power. The sight power of our Divine Sight is another form of strength that exists solely within Divine Sight itself, yet it is equal to one’s own power. There are many ways to use it, but at the first level, it is mainly used to suppress others.”
“At the second level, sight power can be shaped into any form of strength you desire, whatever best suits you. Any form is possible. Some experts combine the forms created from sight power with their own battle techniques, cultivation methods, weapons, and the like, causing their power to increase dramatically.”
“As for the third level, this junior does not understand it. Even my ancestor never explained it.”
“That was a very professional explanation,” Lu Yin said.
“Of course. Our clan elders test us on it,” Chang Shi answered honestly.
Lu Yin rubbed his brow. It sounded like sight power was rather similar to Activeness. The key difference was that Activeness came from the cosmic law that an Immortal had resonated with, whereas sight power was something that could be cultivated and stored.
In nature, it resembled heartrift power, yet it could be used like Activeness.
What thrilled Lu Yin the most was the fact that sight power could only exist within Divine Sight, which also meant that it would not interfere with any of his other powers. Instead, Divine Sight could absorb as much sight power as his own strength.
This meant that sight power would effectively double the overall amount of power that he could wield.
The first level of Divine Sight was nothing more than the crudest application of sight power. Using it to apply pressure to another was no different from using one’s full strength to suppress another. If their sight power was powerful enough, they would be nearly unstoppable against opponents in the same realm.
Divine Sight could store sight power, and Heaven’s Sight could do the same thing.
Chang Shi waited nervously. Only two questions had been asked; the test had not even truly begun yet.
Still, he did not care. In the worst case, he would simply be expelled from the Sight Realm.
“What of the fourth level?”
Chang Shi shuddered. “The fourth level exists only in legend. This junior does not understand it either, but storytellers say that the fourth level of Divine Sight can command all things. Any being that exists within the cosmos, as it is understood, cannot escape its dominion.”
Storytellers? That matches with what Chang Ling said.
“Alright, you pass.” Lu Yin left.
Chang Shi was dumbfounded. Was that the test? Was he messing with me? Isn’t all of that just common knowledge?
“Um… I passed?”
No one answered.
“Senior?”
Still, no one answered.
“May you live forever,” Chang Shi eventually added. He had been scared half to death, yet he had ultimately only needed to answer a few easy questions. That was fine, so he would simply offer a blessing.
Elsewhere, Lu Yin found a place far away from everyone else and released his acquired sight power through Heaven’s Sight.
In an instant, there was a surge of violet energy. The earth sank as the violet energy took on the form of a massive version of Heaven’s Sight that gazed upon the land. The terrifying pressure even caused the void to flow backward.
Lu Yin’s eyes blazed. Using sight power to simply release a great deal of pressure was certainly a formidable ability. If one’s only power was sight power, then using it in such a manner was clearly unreasonable; the pressure alone was insufficient to crush an Immortal, not even one of the weakest. However, sight power was a supplemental power. The prospect of combining it with his own techniques was enough to excite Lu Yin.
No matter who he faced, a sudden surge of pressure in the middle of a fight would be more than enough to disrupt them.
And this was only the first level.
Lu Yin felt that the sight power within Heaven’s Sight had far more applications than just this. After all, he had absorbed an absurd amount of the energy.
Manifestation Beyond the Pupil?
Having already forced Activeness into the form of a scythe and merged Willforce with the will of a megaverse, Lu Yin had more than enough experience to attempt such a thing.
A surging torrent of sight power poured forth from him, filling the area. Under Lu Yin’s control, the energy obediently moved, constantly shifting and changing. He had indeed already mastered the second level.
Chang Chuan stood outside of the Sight Realm, his hands clasped behind his back. In front of him was an image of Lu Yin cultivating the second level of sight power. Chang Tu stood beside the ancient powerhouse.
The younger man exclaimed in admiration, “Upon absorbing sight power, he is already able to immediately force his way to the second level. He didn’t merely touch that level and appears to be quite skilled. Is it possible that he already knew everything and simply came here to trick us?”
Chang Chuan replied, “He doesn’t know, though he likely guessed some.”
“Then what do we do? Should we destroy the Meteor Realm?”
Chang Chuan hesitated.
“What is he going to transform his sight power into?” Chang Tu wondered, still staring.
Chang Chuan spoke slowly, “The transformation of sight power that happens at the second level of mastery is extremely important, as not everyone is able to reach the third level of mastery. Since ancient times, very few members of our Longevity Civilization have succeeded.”
Chang Tu guiltily commented, “I have also failed to master it. I’m sorry, Master.”
Chang Chuan shook his head. “The third level of mastery of sight power requires not only talent, but also luck. Do not blame yourself.”
“Then, will this child be able to master the third level?”
Chang Chuan’s eyes flickered. “This child has tremendous luck as well as peerless talent. There’s a strong possibility.”
Chang Tu felt a burst of envy, but then he frowned. “We still should destroy the Meteor Realm. The more extreme such a person’s ability is, the more trouble they will bring. Even if you hinted at certain things, Master, he might not understand.”
Chang Chuan said nothing further and simply stared intently at the scene playing out. What, exactly, does this child intend to form his sight power into?
He was also very curious.
Manifestation Beyond the Pupil, the second level of master of sight power, could, to some degree, reflect a cultivator’s understanding of cultivation or even of the cosmos itself. There were limitations to the forms that sight power could take on; some formed a weapon that lacked any sort of distinct limit yet did not provide an exceptional increase of power.
Some would transform their sight power into a creature that would accompany them in battle.
Others would form a clone, which would effectively allow them to fight with two bodies.
Some would even form clever mechanisms with their sight power. While such things were powerful at low realms and could allow the cultivator to fight above their realm, the higher the realm, the less that such tricks helped. Ultimately, such things were not even as useful as a simple weapon transformation.
The more cautious the person, the more likely they were to choose something like a weapon. At the very least, such a choice would not be bad.
Through the Manifestation Beyond the Pupil, it was possible to see a cultivator’s true temperament.
Both men were quite curious to see what Lu Yin would transform his sight power into.
Lu Yin himself was also considering what form he should adapt.
A weapon? That was impossible, as he already had Aberrant.
An animal or a plant? Such things were pointless.
Manifesting a battle technique or cultivation art?
Right! He suddenly thought of something, and after another moment’s consideration, his gaze grew sharp. That one.
The violet sight power spilled out, boiling across the region.
Fortunately, he had moved far away from everyone else. As long as he did not start absorbing sight power again, he would not affect them.
Lu Yin continuously moved and shifted his sight power, splitting, spreading, and shaping it…
Time passed slowly as Chang Chuan and Chang Tu watched Lu Yin use Manifestation Beyond the Pupil. Is that… armor?
No way, is the brat actually making armor? Is that his temperament?
While it was certainly true that many throughout the history of the Longevity Civilization had formed their sight power into defensive objects, choosing to form armor was actually extremely rare. More commonly, people would create bells, cauldrons, and other forms that could completely envelop their body. Even a sphere was more convenient than body armor.
After all, who even wore armor anymore?
Chang Tu shook his head. “I truly can’t see through this child.”
Within the Sight Realm, Lu Yin stared at a hexagonal plate of armor that floated before him, a smile slowly tugging at the corner of his mouth. This was it, the Darksky Seal.
The Darksky Seal was the legacy battle technique of the Blacklight Civilization. It was not a technique that relied on cultivation, but rather one that gained strength as the Blacklight creature itself grew. It was not a technique that could be taught to other beings.
Lu Yin had once abandoned all thoughts of acquiring the technique, but the appearance of sight power had prompted him to at least try.
The strength of the Darksky Seal came from the individual themselves, and sight power was his own power.
The Darksky Seal possessed the Blacklight creatures’ own devouring power and sealing traits. Lu Yin used his sight power as a link to create that same sealing ability. Of course, it would not come even close to comparing to the true Darksky Seal. At best, it was similar.
Forming armor with sight power meant that whatever seal Lu Yin created would be relying solely on his sight power—that meant that it would never be able to match a true Darksky Seal. Still, the One-Hundredth Seal existed somewhere out there in the cosmos.
Even when using sight power, Lu Yin was far from matching the power of a true Darksky Seal. After all, that ability had been the foundational power of a fishing civilization. Such a thing could not be easily imitated. What he truly wanted was the One-Hundredth Seal.
He took a plate of armor out from his cosmic ring. It was a plate from the One-Hundredth Seal. In total, he had eleven plates, upon which Ancestor Shan had recorded his knowledge of the cosmos, as well as his inheritance.
Lu Yin pressed the plate to the hexagonal shape that he had formed from sight power, merging the two.
The sight power clung to the plate, which moved in tandem with the sight power.
Lu Yin’s eyes lit up. The original armor plate was incredibly hard, to the point where not even Old First was able to damage it. At the moment, creating a Darksky Seal with sight power did not mean much. At best, he could merge the eleven plates that he had collected with his sight power to form a partial defense. However, if he could one day gather all the pieces of the shattered One-Hundredth Seal and fuse his sight power into them, things would be very different.
Even if nothing else was possible, if he sealed himself within the plates, no one would be able to break in.
If he sealed others, it would be extremely difficult for them to escape as well.
Sight power was a bonus to supplement Lu Yin’s power to begin with. When he compared it to his other energies, he did not truly need sight power for anything. In that case, he would wait for the One-Hundredth Seal.
After fusing with all 100 plates and using sight power to replace the Blacklight creatures’ innate power, Lu Yin wanted to see just who could break out of his seal then.
