The Verse tussle lasted for a whole minute until an equilibrium was finally achieved. The final result was that Rui was weakened in virtually all aspects by the domineering Verses of his opponents. Eighteen eyes honed in on him with a predatory bloodlust.

The two Divine Mothers split, facing him at an orthogonal angle. Divine Mother —ooo— charged at him, her fists and her web stinger wound back, eager to lunge at him. Divine Mother o—o moved to his side at a greater distance, ready to shell him with highly amplified web shots.
Rui’s expression was profoundly intense. Any laxness that he had displayed prior was gone. The pressure that the three Divine Mothers inflicted upon him was greater than anything he had sustained in the past thirteen years.
It awoke a part of him that had been sleeping.
The past thirteen and perhaps even eighteen years had been a phase of his life of unparalleled dominance.
He was the Emperor of Water.
A title that captured his domineering position of power over everybody else. He had faced a few tribulations here and there, with o-o-o-o and later two Divine Mothers at once, but it had never crossed the threshold of mortal, soul-shaking danger.
This time, he could feel it.
Death was not unlikely.
’When was the last time I felt this way?’
It had to be when the nebulars invaded the Solar System, all but ready to utterly annihilate Gaia. It had become the trigger for his final enlightenment, which allowed him to transcend.
Now, he stared death in the face as two vastly superior, if only temporarily, Transcendents lunged for his life.
He was no longer the Emperor of Water.
His mindset had already reset to that of the Dawnbringer.
A man who was drowning in the darkness of hopelessness, only to find the light of salvation.
His intense eyes fixed on Divine Mother —ooo— who had arrived before him in the blink of an eye. Her fists blurred, tunneling through reality itself, arriving right at his jaw with a speed so high that not even Autocorpus could evade it in time.

The resulting blow was so astronomical that it caused singularities to be born at the moment of impact, only to die as fast as they came. The shockwave from the attack momentarily overwhelmed the interdiction, rippling across the entire star system. The two blue giant stars at the center of the Colton Star System could even be seen wobbling for minutes with how intense the attacks were, despite the shockwaves being diluted over distance.
It was a miracle that the target of the attack was still intact, let alone alive and able to fight.
Yet, it was not without cost.
His jaw had shattered upon impact. The only reason the impact hadn’t vaporized his head was that he had used Body of Water and Anti-Spiral, along with reinforced invintium, and his Gene Realm, making the cells in his head and brain smoothly transmit the power instead of allowing it to damage them.
Yet, this was only one of countless strikes that hailed on him.

The Divine Mother didn’t rush. Her six eyes remained focused on Rui, keeping a careful eye on his movements and his thoughts. With their Webverses able to skim the information of his mind’s surface-layer thoughts, they had access to his intentions.
A single opportunity was all he needed for escape. They didn’t even dare to lower the interdiction field to allow other Divine Mothers to pile on what was now a winning battle. He would escape the second he had even a femtosecond of an opportunity.
Her movements were honed and highly trained. They resembled those of a Martial Artist. She had developed her own martial arts style, derived from the generic unarmed combat training that all arakai soldiers received. Rui could feel the amount of dedication she had given to her combat style.
If not for the fact that she was using it to bring him closer and closer to death, he would have even praised her for it. But she wasn’t the only one who was systematically bringing him closer and closer to death. From his right side, Divine Mother o—o continuously blasted him with powerful web shots. She filled in the gaps in the moments when her sister’s attacks had yet to reach, preventing Rui from using any simple counters to deal with his sister.
Both sisters tightened their grip on the state of the quantum fields of the particles of his body, preventing him from getting with quantum teleportation. They could see the escalating damage on his body. What they were doing was working. There was no need to be more extravagant.
They even had the stamina advantage, since he had been using his Martialverse longer than they had and was using it more intensely now that he was at a disadvantage.
It was only a matter of time before they blasted him to pieces.
In fact, now that they had regained a dominant posture, they were even willing to go back to their original ambition of capturing him alive, if cautiously.

A wormhole was the only way; he was in the middle of arakai territory. He had no doubt that additional interdiction reinforcements were on their way, and bound to reach every soon.
In order to open a wormhole, he needed to get rid of their Webverses. There was no chance he could possibly open a wormhole with them amplifying the interdiction web with their Verses.
He couldn’t wait. That would seal his capture.
’I have to knock them out.’
Only when he rendered the two sisters unconscious or mentally incapacitated, for even a moment, would he have any chance of getting out of there alive.
"Bring it on!" His ethereal eyes glowed with a blood-red light as he activated Megamind for the first time in nearly two decades.
